Beast Taming: I'm Really Not a Cultivation Master

Chapter 316: Chapter 286: Moon Shadow Forest

As Li Qian was speaking with Senior Brother Du, Instructor Zhou appeared at the entrance of the Pet Beast Center with seven students. He scanned the area, and seeing that all the new students had arrived, he nodded slightly. ”Very good. Since everyone is here, we won’t wait for the scheduled time. Let’s head out now.”

With that, he led the new students out of the Yuntian City Pet Beast Center.

After leaving the Pet Beast Center, the freshmen gathered in the Central Plaza, reassembled into formation, and then headed straight for the South Gate.

Yuntian City had four exits in total: the South, East, North, and West Gates.

The reason they were leaving from the South Gate was that it was the closest exit to the Moon Shadow Forest.

The Moon Shadow Forest was the destination for their expedition.

The South Gate was guarded by robot soldiers. They didn’t seem to be low-Level, but they showed no reaction as Li Qian and the others passed through.

”These robot soldiers are very powerful. Each one is at the Commander Level.”

Senior Sister Ling began to explain to the freshmen, ”In addition, they have the ability to combine and reconfigure. Groups of three, five, or nine robots can merge into a new one. At their peak, their strength can reach High-level Dominator.”

”They not only protect Yuntian City but also maintain order within it. If anyone causes trouble, they will be arrested.”

As Senior Sister Ling was explaining, the group had already walked through the city gates.

After they left the city, Instructor Zhou held out his hand, and a bag materialized in it.

”Put on these special communication watches. Cell phones have no signal out here.” Taking a handful of wristband-like devices from the bag, Instructor Zhou instructed.

After the wristbands were distributed, Instructor Zhou added with particular emphasis, ”And remember, if you encounter any unusual situations, like a sudden glowing portal or an abnormally ferocious Extraordinary Creature, you are absolutely forbidden from attacking rashly, and even more so from stepping inside. You must report to your team captain or to me immediately.”

”Awesome! We finally get to go on a real adventure.”

”Ah Mi, if we run into danger, remember to hide behind me.”

”You should just worry about yourself.”

”I can’t believe we get to enter a Dimension Plane right after starting at the Beast Taming University.”

”...”

After putting on their wristbands, the students broke into excited chatter. Their excitement was plain to see.

This time, Instructor Zhou didn’t try to stop the freshmen’s chattering.

On the way to the Moon Shadow Forest, Senior Brother Du took the lead and began to tell the students what to expect.

Generally speaking, if it were categorized like in the online games from his past life, the Moon Shadow Forest would be considered a starter zone at best.

The three most common types of Extraordinary Creatures there were: the cat family, including One-tailed Cats, Two-tailed Cats, and Three-tailed Cats; various spiders, like Venomous Spiders and Five-Colored Venom Spiders; and insects such as White Silk Worms and Sleep Butterflies.

Other Extraordinary Creatures existed as well, but they weren’t as numerous or concentrated as these three types.

And so, the freshmen followed Instructor Zhou and their three senior guides, marching for about two hours until they reached a distinct boundary.

Behind them, the way they had come, was a landscape of low shrubs and vast grasslands. Before them, however, a dense, verdant jungle loomed, stretching out like an endless ocean of trees with no visible edge.

Trees of jade-green, silver, yellow, and even red could be seen within this arboreal ocean, creating a magnificent sight.

Li Qian was certain that he had never seen such a fantastical landscape, neither on the Earth of his past life nor on the Ancestral Star in this one.

Such scenery could only exist in a Dimension Plane.

”The Moon Shadow Forest is just ahead.”

Senior Brother Du, who was in the lead, glanced at the forest ahead before turning to Instructor Zhou, a step behind him. ”It’s inconvenient for all of us to move as one large group,” he suggested. ”Like before, let’s split up and operate as four small teams.”

”Mm, if everyone stays together, it won’t be conducive to their trial,” Instructor Zhou said, nodding in agreement.

With the plan settled, Instructor Zhou wasted no time. He walked directly in front of the freshmen and announced the next steps. ”Ahead is the Moon Shadow Forest. We’ve already gone over the details about it on the way here. Now, our four teams will split up.”

The freshmen listened to Instructor Zhou’s instructions without saying much.

Having been admitted to Shazhou Beast Taming University, it was no exaggeration to call them the cream of the crop.

Therefore, they understood perfectly well that sticking together and chattering like they were on a field trip would not provide any real training.

So they tacitly accepted Instructor Zhou’s plan. Of course, even if they had other ideas, it wouldn’t have mattered. As freshmen, their words carried little weight, and they had no real say in the matter anyway.

”Alright students, once we enter the Moon Shadow Forest, you’ll be on your own.” With the plan set, the four teams moved out at once. As before, the leader of Li Qian’s team was Senior Brother Du. He led his group toward the northwest, speaking as they walked.

”What about you, Senior Brother Du?” his words immediately sparked confusion among the freshmen in his group.

Senior Brother Du smiled faintly. ”Under normal circumstances, I won’t intervene. The moment I have to step in, it means your trial is over. You get to go home early.”

In their team of six, Ding Ganmao, a slightly chubby and energetic boy, heard this and said confidently, ”Don’t worry, Senior Brother Du! We’ll definitely complete this training successfully.”

”Confidence is a good thing,” Senior Brother Du remarked, then said no more and simply walked ahead.

Watching Senior Brother Du’s retreating back, the group of six didn’t immediately follow. The chubby boy, Ding Ganmao, raised his hand. ”Before we go in, let’s discuss our individual strengths and what roles we should play in the team.”

Li Qian gave a slight nod of approval. ’A good idea. At the very least, it’ll increase our chances of completing the trial. This makes us feel more like a team and less like a disorganized mob.’

Seeing no objections, Ding Ganmao volunteered to go first. ”I’ll start. My name is Ding Ganmao. I just reached the Elite Level. I have two Pet Beasts, one Ice Element and one Water Element, so I can handle both offense and crowd control.”

”I’m Tier Nine. I have one Pet Beast, Wind Element. I can play a support role.”

”I have a Pet Beast too! It’s a Fighting Element and specializes in close combat!”

”...”

One by one, the other freshmen shared their information. Soon, it was Li Qian’s turn, the last to report...
