Beast Taming: I'm Really Not a Cultivation Master

Chapter 311: Chapter 282: Violent Woman

About five minutes later, Lu Tianjiao returned to Li Qian’s dorm, grumbling, ”Bro, let me tell you, that woman is way too fierce. Total deal-breaker. I’m telling you, you should reconsider the other two.”

”I guess you didn’t get thrown hard enough. Looks like you need her to give you a proper toss,” Li Qian retorted, pursing his lips. ’This guy... he’s fine otherwise, but he just can’t keep his mouth shut. He’s bound to get in trouble for it sooner or later.’

Lu Tianjiao was completely unfazed. He walked over to the coffee table while rubbing his lower back, then grabbed a bottle of mineral water and started chugging it.

While he hadn’t broken any bones, a fall from the third floor was definitely not a pleasant experience.

He spoke as he drank. ”By the way, I was hiding in the corner of the balcony just now, so I couldn’t get a clear look. I could vaguely make out that she was a girl from the Gaochang Race. What was her name again?”

”Irina,” Li Qian answered directly, not hiding anything. The moment he spoke, there was a PFFT! and Lu Tianjiao instantly became a human fountain, spraying the water in his mouth everywhere.

”What?!” he asked, stunned, trying to confirm. The shock on his face was obvious.

Seeing his friend’s exaggerated reaction, Li Qian asked, confused, ”What’s wrong? It’s just Irina. Do you know her?”

”Know her? It’s more than that!” Lu Tianjiao exclaimed, his tone full of drama. His expression shifted from shock to something more complicated, and finally settled on pity.

Lu Tianjiao’s stare made Li Qian uncomfortable, and he quickly explained, ”Why are you looking at me like that? We just met. She was only here to deliver a message from a senior of mine.”

”Oh, good.” Hearing this, Lu Tianjiao let out a long sigh of relief. ”It’s good that you’re not involved with her. And in the future, it’s best to keep it that way.”

Now Li Qian was even more confused. He scratched his head and looked at Lu Tianjiao. ”What’s that supposed to mean? Stop being so cryptic.”

Lu Tianjiao sank into thought for a moment. Whatever he was thinking about made him shudder. Finally, he explained, ”If the Irina you’re talking about is *the* Irina, the fourth-year from the Combat Academy’s Wind and Thunder Branch, then I have to give you a piece of advice: keep your distance if you can.”

Deliberately lowering his voice, he continued, ”Because... she’s a violent maniac!”

Li Qian looked skeptical. ”That seems unlikely... Senior Sister Yilina might be a bit cold, but she doesn’t seem like...”

”Don’t be fooled by her looks. She seems all cold, aloof, and ethereally beautiful, but in reality... Let me put it this way. Precisely because of that seemingly harmless appearance, three guys once got bold enough to try and pursue her, and then...”

Lu Tianjiao trailed off mysteriously, a born storyteller who knew just when to leave his audience hanging. Li Qian shot him an exasperated look and immediately pressed, ”And then what happened?”

”Of the three guys,” Lu Tianjiao said with a completely serious expression, ”the one with the *lightest* injuries spent a week in the hospital.”

Li Qian couldn’t help but suck in a sharp breath. ’Terrifying. Truly terrifying. She’s not someone to be trifled with, definitely not.’

Besides, after hearing Lu Tianjiao’s story and considering his own recent encounter, it did seem to add up. ’She really does resort to violence at the slightest disagreement.’

’Before, I thought Senior Sister Yilina was beautiful, with a great presence—like a perfect combination of Tu Jiaojiao and Li Lanying. Now it seems that was just an illusion. Yes, a total illusion.’

After Irina left, the rest of the night was finally peaceful. There was no more drama.

Before bed, Li Qian logged into the Pet Beast Mall on his phone and bought some materials needed for the Golden Pearl Bud’s evolution.

He bought two sets of everything, intending to follow the same method he’d used with Jinfeng and Golden Rain to evolve two Tidal Sea Spirits at once. Previously, while helping Sun Ruirui, he had taken a desperate, all-or-nothing approach, which had resulted in a successful evolution.

Through that evolution, especially Golden Rain’s, Li Qian had come to understand the true essence of the Golden Pearl Bud’s evolution: mutual sacrifice leading to mutual fulfillment. Sacrifice was fulfillment, and fulfillment was sacrifice.

So this time, Li Qian was preparing to conduct another experiment. He told Irina what he needed, and she agreed immediately, without the slightest hesitation.

Li Qian was confident Irina had the ability to get it done, so he had to start preparing on his end as well.

The night passed without incident. The next morning, Li Qian got up and saw Lu Tianjiao sleeping soundly on the living room sofa. He couldn’t help but let out a wry chuckle. ’This guy...’

He didn’t waste any time. After putting on his military training uniform, he headed straight for the Round Table Cafeteria. ’As for that bum Lu Tianjiao,’ he thought, ’he’ll probably use his ’injury’ as an excuse to laze around in the dorm all day.’

After a simple breakfast at the Round Table Cafeteria, Li Qian went directly to Training Ground Five. When he arrived, he saw that about half the students in his group were already there.

Li Qian checked the time. There were still ten minutes until the assembly time Instructor Zhou had given. It looked like some people were going to be late.

As it turned out, Li Qian’s guess was correct. Sure enough, three students came rushing over after 8:30.

Instructor Zhou looked at the three latecomers—two male, one female. A faint smile touched his lips before he bluntly issued their punishment, ”One hundred push-ups. You have five minutes. Fail, and the number doubles!”

Upon hearing Instructor Zhou’s command, pained expressions immediately appeared on the faces of the three late students.

Li Qian couldn’t help but wince when he heard that. ’One hundred push-ups in five minutes. Even though Beast Masters in this Beast Taming World are generally in good shape, that’s no easy feat.’

After that brief spectacle, the military training resumed. As it turned out, yesterday’s training had indeed been just a warm-up. The intensity today was on a completely different level.

With his physical conditioning, Li Qian had no problem, but he noticed that some of the less-fit students were already starting to fall behind.

Li Qian wasn’t too concerned. ’Instructor Zhou will surely keep things within reason,’ he thought. ’After all, we’re students from the Cultivation College, not the Combat Academy.’

Li Qian believed Instructor Zhou would keep things in check, and for the second and third days, training went exactly as he’d expected. Though the intensity gradually increased, there were no major incidents, and everyone managed to keep up. But on the fourth day, that all changed...
