Beast Taming: I'm Really Not a Cultivation Master

Chapter 348: Chapter 318: Edge of Breakthrough, Training Activity

After using the Limit-Breaking Stone to get the Telekinesis skill to the Breakthrough Level, Li Qian didn’t immediately initiate the evolution.

It was already late, and they had been training all day. Neither Li Qian nor the Three-tailed Cat was in perfect condition, so there was no need to rush.

Besides, there was one other thing forcing Li Qian to postpone the evolution.

After he had completed the task of discovering the evolution method for the Three-tailed Cat to become a Four-tailed Cat and received the system feedback, Li Qian sensed that his Spiritual Power had reached the brink of a breakthrough.

That was why for the past few days, Li Qian had taken a hands-off approach to the Three-tailed Cat’s training, merely watching from the sidelines instead of actively supervising.

He had spent most of his time on his own training.

He had been meditating constantly, without a moment’s rest.

Finally, at the very moment the Three-tailed Cat’s Telekinesis skill reached the Breakthrough Level, Li Qian felt it too—his own time to break through had come.

Without a moment’s hesitation, he recalled the Three-tailed Cat into its Beast Taming Ball and walked straight out of Lab 108.

As he entered the elevator, he coincidentally ran into the young female teacher he had met once before.

”Hello, Teacher Guan.” Li Qian nodded to the young teacher in greeting.

Li Qian had already learned her name from the discussions among his classmates.

Guan Mingyue.

A very poetic name.

It suited her appearance perfectly—gentle as water, serene as the moon. If she were in ancient China from his past life, she would surely have been a well-read, cultured lady from a prestigious family.

”Finishing up so late?” Guan Mingyue looked at Li Qian and returned a smile that felt like a spring breeze.

”Yeah.” Li Qian returned a polite smile of his own.

”What are you researching in Lab 108?” Guan Mingyue asked, a little curious.

Then she quickly added, ”Of course, it’s fine if you can’t say.”

Li Qian waved his hand, admitting openly, ”It’s nothing inconvenient. I’m currently researching the evolution method for the Three-tailed Cat into the Four-tailed Cat.”

The evolution from a Three-tailed Cat to a Four-tailed Cat was a very hot research topic right now, so it was no big deal to mention it.

Besides, Li Qian guessed this was also likely related to the subtle disappointment he had heard in Dean Fei’s tone.

’He must have thought I was just blindly chasing a popular trend.’

”The evolution from a Three-tailed Cat to a Four-tailed Cat?”

Guan Mingyue’s expression didn’t change in the slightest. ”That’s a very interesting research topic.”

”How’s it going?”

Li Qian responded casually, ”I’ve made some progress.”

His words were vague, neither deceiving Guan Mingyue nor revealing the truth.

It wasn’t that Li Qian was trying to be deliberately secretive; he just didn’t want to cause a stir, especially since he didn’t know Guan Mingyue well.

After a few more words, the elevator reached the first floor. They said their goodbyes, and Li Qian hurried off.

It wasn’t that he didn’t want to chat more with the beautiful teacher, but he had been so focused on his training that he still hadn’t eaten dinner.

He rushed to the nearby Cafeteria No. 3.

By this time, the cafeteria had stopped serving food.

But that was no problem. The first floor of the cafeteria building had shops on its three road-facing sides, most of which were eateries.

Li Qian glanced around, picked a noodle shop that looked decent, and ordered a bowl of beef noodles.

He had just taken a few bites when a somewhat familiar voice suddenly called out.

”Li Qian, what a coincidence!” A round-faced guy suddenly greeted him.

As he spoke, he confidently carried his own bowl over to the seat opposite Li Qian.

He had also ordered a bowl of beef noodles.

Li Qian looked up and recognized him almost immediately.

The round-faced guy’s name was Wang En Ci, one of his classmates. He’d seen him in class a few times.

Li Qian remembered he was good friends with Ding Ganmao.

After a few more mouthfuls of noodles, Li Qian returned the greeting. ”Yeah, what a coincidence.”

”The noodles here are great. I’m a big fan, so I come here often,” Wang En Ci explained.

”They’re definitely not bad,” Li Qian commented fairly as he ate.

It wasn’t some mind-blowing, gourmet delicacy, but compared to the other campus cafeterias Li Qian had tried, it was definitely a cut above the rest.

”By the way, there’s an off-campus training trip this weekend. I was wondering if you’d be interested?” Wang En Ci said, changing the subject mid-conversation.

Wang En Ci’s words piqued Li Qian’s curiosity. He immediately asked, ”What kind of training trip?”

”South of Shazhou City, about a hundred kilometers from the Shazhou City District, there’s a vast expanse of desert.”

”It’s called the West Wusu Desert. It’s not just sand dunes; there are also some Gobi areas and oases, so the ecosystem is pretty complex.”

”It’s home to a lot of Extraordinary Creatures. Rumor has it that deep in the desert, there are even Peak Dominator Level Pet Beasts.”

”It’s a pretty suitable training ground for freshmen like us. A few of the local students, led by Dakoli, are taking a group of us there for some practice.”

”You could also see it as preparation for entering the Dimension Planes later on.”

Li Qian nodded slightly as he listened to Wang En Ci’s explanation. He had to admit, that last point made a lot of sense.

”So, are you interested in joining?” Wang En Ci asked again.

Li Qian thought for a moment before giving a direct reply. ”Sure.”

Li Qian wasn’t about to pass up a rare opportunity like this to test himself.

Compared to the Dimension Plane where he could enter but was restricted to Yuntian City, the West Wusu Desert was clearly a much more appealing option for him right now.

There was another reason he’d agreed. Li Qian felt that, given his current state, he might just break through to the Commander Level tonight.

Once his Spiritual Power broke through to the Commander Level, Qizai and Xiaoliu, who had been consolidating their strength at the peak Elite Level for a while, could probably advance directly to Tier Two Commander.

With that kind of strength, he was confident he wouldn’t run into any real danger just training in the wild.

And so, the two of them discussed some more details about the trip as they ate and chatted.

Since Wang En Ci wasn’t the organizer, he wasn’t clear on all the specific details of the trip.

However, Li Qian did learn one thing from what Wang En Ci said.

Ding Ganmao would also be participating in the trip.

Soon, they finished their noodles, their conversation winding down. Wang En Ci was thrilled to get Li Qian’s firm confirmation.

He and Ding Ganmao were good friends, and through him, he had learned that Li Qian was a very capable freshman.

With him joining them, their safety on the trip was that much more guaranteed.
