Beast Taming: I'm Really Not a Cultivation Master

Chapter 322: Chapter 292: Divine Prohibition Legend

The situation was dire. Instructor Zhou judged that a serious problem had likely occurred deep within the Moon Shadow Forest.

To avoid getting caught in the crossfire, he immediately shouted the order to retreat.

As a veteran who had spent years navigating Dimension Planes, he knew exactly what to do in this situation.

He knew they couldn’t count on the powerful figures to swoop in and save them. They might lend a hand, but only after the emergency was contained.

If they had to make a choice, they certainly wouldn’t risk the safety of the many just to save a dozen or so people.

Upon receiving the order, Li Qian didn’t overthink it. He simply beckoned and said in a grave tone, ”Get on.”

The instant he beckoned, Qizai was before him with lightning speed.

Li Qian took the lead, leaping directly onto Qizai’s back. Ami Liya, Hu Wenjing, Wu Mingming, and Ding Ganmao followed close behind, jumping on as well.

”Qizai, let’s go! Get out of here, full speed!” Seeing that Wang Zonghan showed no sign of joining them, Li Qian didn’t hesitate and immediately gave Qizai the order.

This was no time for indecisiveness. The safety of so many of his classmates was on the line. Whether Wang Zonghan was held back by pride or had other reasons, Li Qian couldn’t afford to wait for him.

To do so would be irresponsible to himself and to the other students who had placed their trust in him.

”ROAR!” At the command, Qizai let out a draconic cry and sprang into action. It unleashed its Longteng Skill, soaring over a hundred meters into the air in the blink of an eye.

At the same time, he saw that Instructor Zhou and the other three senior students had also summoned their own Flying Pet Beasts.

Those without Flying Pet Beasts summoned other types of Pet Beasts that had a speed advantage.

With the help of these Pet Beasts, Li Qian and the others’ escape was significantly faster.

The group of twelve students and four instructors and seniors were preparing to flee the scene at top speed. Even Wang Zonghan was pulled onto Instructor Zhou’s Flying Pet Beast.

Their decision proved to be absolutely correct, because just as they began their retreat, a synchronized evacuation warning blared from their temporary communication watches.

An alert that could notify so many people at once was undoubtedly not from a single individual, but an official emergency broadcast.

Once airborne, Li Qian commanded Qizai to fly toward Yuntian City at top speed. However, a casual glance back left him utterly shocked.

He saw the Peacock Monarch suddenly launch an attack, ordering the Stellar Wanderer to fire a massive, gray, vortex-like Energy Ball.

The gray, vortex-like Energy Ball shot into the depths of the Moon Shadow Forest, triggering a massive explosion.

In an instant, earth and stone flew everywhere as trees were pulverized. Amidst the dust, Li Qian could clearly make out the faint, shimmering shape of a halo of light.

Within that halo, something seemed to be tearing its way through, trying to break free, but it was ultimately forced back by the Peacock Monarch.

”Senior Brother Du, what was that?” Moon Shadow Forest wasn’t far from Yuntian City. After they returned and while the other injured students were being taken to the hospital, Li Qian described what he had seen and heard to Senior Brother Du, voicing the questions weighing on his mind.

Senior Brother Du beckoned, then headed straight for a bar. Li Qian wasn’t surprised to find a bar in Yuntian City; he’d seen it before while exploring.

Inside the bar, he picked a table by the window. Senior Brother Du ordered a cocktail for himself, then asked Li Qian, ”What’ll you have?”

Then he added, emphasizing, ”Don’t be shy. This one’s my treat.”

Li Qian didn’t hesitate, ordering a glass of juice. Seeing this, Senior Brother Du just smiled without further comment.

They made small talk for a few minutes. Once the juice and cocktail arrived, Senior Brother Du finally cut to the chase. ”Have you heard of Unstable Rifts?”

Li Qian nodded. ”I have.”

He didn’t just know about them; an Unstable Rift had nearly killed him.

’The memory is still fresh.’

”Actually, that halo of light you saw earlier can be understood as an Unstable Rift,” Senior Brother Du said calmly.

His words made Li Qian’s brow furrow.

Without hesitation, he asked what was bothering him. ”This place is already a Dimension Plane. How can an Unstable Rift appear inside one?”

”Have you heard of the Divine Prohibition Legend?” Instead of answering directly, Senior Brother Du posed another question.

Li Qian shook his head.

’This was the first time he’d ever heard anyone mention this ”Divine Prohibition Legend.”’

”The true nature of the Dimension Planes...”

Senior Brother Du took a sip of his cocktail and began to explain. ”According to the research of some Beast Taming Civilization scholars, they believe the Dimension Planes are like a nested world, layer after layer, like an onion.”

”The deeper you go, the more abundant the Extraordinary Energy becomes. Likewise, the Extraordinary Creatures within those deeper layers are also far more powerful.”

”Legend has it that the deepest part of the Dimension Planes, the very core of the onion world, is a domain that not even Mythical Level beings can enter. That is why it’s called the Divine Forbidden Land, and that’s where the Divine Prohibition Legend comes from.”

With a sigh, Senior Brother Du continued, ”You’ll learn about this after the semester starts, in your Pet Beast Civilization History class, so it doesn’t really matter if I tell you now.”

”Humanity’s exploration of the Dimension Planes is currently limited to the first few layers. As for which specific layer we’re on now... with my level of power, I couldn’t tell you. What I can tell you is that I’ve only ever been to a second-layer Dimension Plane.”

”And even there, in a second-layer Dimension Plane, I have to be extremely cautious and can only operate under the protection of a more powerful expert.”

After that brief preamble, Senior Brother Du’s tone suddenly turned strange. ”This world is broken...”

”Huh?” Li Qian was completely bewildered by the sudden, bizarre turn in the conversation.

’Why is he being so dramatic and abrupt?’ Li Qian kept his confused gaze fixed on Senior Brother Du.

Senior Brother Du didn’t disappoint him and began to share what he knew. ”According to the Beast Taming Civilization scholars, the Dimension Planes were originally a whole onion. But for some unknown reason, that onion broke, and its scent began to leak out.”

”That’s what triggered the dawn of the Beast Taming Civilization on the Ancestral Star. And according to the scholars, this... this is only the beginning.”

”Eventually, the entire onion world—the Dimension Planes—will completely collapse and merge with our reality.”

”The appearance of Unstable Rifts is a sign of this. To put it bluntly, a so-called Unstable Rift is just a temporary passage created when the World Wall between Dimension Planes briefly collapses.”

”These Unstable Rifts have been appearing more and more frequently in recent years. And that faint, unclear sound you heard... it was likely from Extraordinary Creatures from a Deep Elemental Plane trying to cross over.”

”The Peacock Monarch most likely rushed over to deal with this exact situation. If those Extraordinary Creatures from the Deep Elemental Plane had managed to cross over, it would have been a catastrophe. Things like this... they’ve happened before.”
