Beast Taming: I'm Really Not a Cultivation Master

Chapter 304: Chapter 275: Course Selection

”Have something to eat.” Li Qian had woken up a bit earlier than Lu Tianjiao that morning. He’d wandered around campus for a bit, gotten something to eat, and brought some back for him too.

Lu Tianjiao was in the middle of brushing his teeth, his voice muffled. ”Thanks. What’d you get?”

”I didn’t know what you like to eat, so I just grabbed some steamed buns and fried dough sticks.” Li Qian glanced at Lu Tianjiao, who was in the bathroom.

”Tastes pretty good.” A few minutes later, Lu Tianjiao emerged from the bathroom, having washed up. Without even rinsing all the toothpaste from the corner of his mouth, he snatched a bun and stuffed it into his mouth.

”I thought you were the expert on Shazhou Beast Taming University,” Li Qian said with a faint smile.

”I can barely get up in the mornings. I hardly ever eat a proper breakfast; most of the time I just get by with some milk and bread.” Lu Tianjiao plopped down onto the sofa and started eating without a care in the world, making himself right at home.

Li Qian shook his head with a laugh and paid him no mind, putting on his VR glasses to access the campus network.

”The course registration system for the new semester is open. Remember to pick your classes,” Li Qian reminded him as he browsed the course list with his VR glasses.

”Counting military training, we still have over a week. There’s no rush.” Lu Tianjiao didn’t seem too concerned.

”You should take it seriously. Otherwise, the popular courses will fill up and you’ll be out of luck,” Li Qian retorted, pursing his lips.

Lu Tianjiao was happily munching away. ”It’s fine,” he said between bites. ”We students who live in Xianya Garden are different from the others.”

His words piqued Li Qian’s curiosity. ”How are we different?”

”We can register for any course related to our major, whether it’s full or not,” Lu Tianjiao explained.

”Is that so?” Li Qian was skeptical.

He immediately scrolled through the selection page in his VR interface and quickly found a course that interested him.

As it happened, this course was already full, and its selection button was grayed out.

Li Qian clicked on the grayed-out button in his VR interface, and the message that popped up took him by surprise.

”Freshman Li Qian, you have selected the course *Study of the Evolution of Unstable Gene Pet Beasts*. Confirm?”

’It really let me choose it!’ Seeing the prompt, Li Qian’s astonishment gave way to a look of delight.

”It’s not just Shazhou Beast Taming University. In fact, all Beast Taming Universities give special treatment to talented students like us. Course selection is just one minor perk.”

Lu Tianjiao might have called it minor, but to Li Qian, being able to freely choose any course he wanted was already a very tempting perk.

After selecting *Study of the Evolution of Unstable Gene Pet Beasts*, something suddenly occurred to Li Qian. He immediately returned to the main page of the registration system to check the rules for academic credits.

After about ten minutes, Li Qian had read through all of Shazhou Beast Taming University’s rules regarding academic credits.

Once he finished reading, he couldn’t help but nod in approval.

Overall, the academic credit rules at Shazhou Beast Taming University—in other words, the rules for studying—were very open and flexible, not rigid or dogmatic.

First, there were no restrictions on course selection. Students could choose any course, whether it was related to their major or not.

Second, graduation was based on accumulating credits. A student could graduate as soon as they earned the required total.

Credits were earned through final exams, final battles, or final project presentations, depending on the major.

Finally, graduation. As long as a student earned enough credits, they could graduate. While it was a four-year program, one could apply for early graduation if they met the credit requirement ahead of time. Conversely, if a student failed to earn enough credits, it wasn’t impossible to end up graduating in five or even six years.

As for grades from regular attendance and assignments, they only accounted for about thirty percent of the final score.

In other words, even if you skipped every single class, you could still receive credit for a course as long as you passed the final assessment.

This was the rule that pleased Li Qian the most. He could arrange his own schedule and choose to self-study for some of his courses.

Without hesitation, he opened the entire four-year course catalog. *Cultivation Basics*, *Evolutionary Theory*, *Pharmacy*, *Pet Beast Psychology*... A dazzling array of all kinds of courses filled his vision.

Looking at all these courses, a somewhat crazy idea began to form in Li Qian’s mind.

According to the university’s regulations, students were required to complete 100 credits in their freshman year, 150 in their sophomore year, 200 in their junior year, and 150 in their senior year.

In other words, a student had to complete a total of six hundred credits over four years to graduate.

After a moment of contemplation, Li Qian stopped hesitating. He decisively sprang into action and began selecting his courses.

As he selected one course after another, his cumulative credit count rose higher and higher. When he was finally done, Li Qian was shocked to discover that he had signed up for a staggering three hundred and fifty credits for his freshman year.

At this rate, he could complete all the required credits for the entire four-year program in two years, at most.

If he could actually pull it off, it would undoubtedly set an astonishing record.

”Are you done picking your courses?” Lu Tianjiao finally asked, seeing Li Qian sitting silently on a lounge chair on the balcony, lost in thought.

”Pretty much. I just need to think it over a little more before I finalize them,” Li Qian replied casually, his train of thought interrupted.

”How many credits did you pick?” Lu Tianjiao asked, a look of interest on his face.

Li Qian didn’t hide it, answering without thinking, ”Three hundred and fifty!”

The moment the words left his mouth, the room fell into a dead silence.

Three hundred and fifty?!

Lu Tianjiao almost thought he was hearing things!

Even he, who considered himself exceptionally talented, a truly outstanding individual—to say he was one in a thousand, if not one in ten thousand, would be no exaggeration.

But even so, he only planned on taking around two hundred credits during his freshman year.

’Three hundred and fifty credits... What did that even entail?’

’Li Qian was on track to graduate by the end of his sophomore year!’

At that moment, Lu Tianjiao, who had always thought himself extraordinary, found himself looking at Li Qian with a complicated expression.

Having finished with course selection, Li Qian changed the subject. ”So, how long until your actual dorm is fully repaired?”

Hearing this, Lu Tianjiao replied, a little displeased, ”What, are you sick of me already?”

”Not sick of you, no. But with you around, I won’t be able to bring any girls back to the dorm.” Li Qian blurted out a random excuse.

He hadn’t expected, however, that his casual remark would lead Lu Tianjiao to jump to a completely different conclusion. ”Damn, don’t tell me you’re still hung up on that girl from the Snow Race, Xue Yuan?”
