Beast Taming: I'm Really Not a Cultivation Master

Chapter 317: Chapter 287: Sharp-Horned Crocodile

Seeing that everyone had shared their information, Li Qian didn’t hesitate and spoke up. ”I have two Pet Beasts as well. Both are dual-attribute: Ice and Fire, and Wind and Water.”

The moment he finished speaking, the group fell silent.

’What’s going on? Two Pet Beasts? And both are dual-attribute?’

’What did that mean?’

It meant not only that Li Qian’s Power Level had reached the Elite Level, but also that his Pet Beasts’ Racial Potential was likely very high.

In the Beast Taming World, the number of attributes a pet possessed didn’t always reflect its actual power or Racial Potential, but the two were usually directly correlated.

Because of this, many of the freshmen now looked at Li Qian with anticipation.

Li Qian chuckled and continued, ”They can handle control or do damage.”

”Excellent! Very good!”

After hearing Li Qian’s explanation, Ding Ganmao was momentarily stunned, then smiled. ”Our team composition is quite well-rounded. We have damage, control, and a healer. I’m even more confident about the upcoming expedition.”

Meanwhile, Senior Brother Du, who was already a short distance ahead, glanced back at their discussion and gave a slight nod.

Now that they had a general understanding of each other’s abilities, the group gathered to briefly discuss strategy.

They called it strategy, but there was no way to devise anything complex in such a short amount of time.

After a few minutes of discussion, they only managed to agree on a basic battle plan.

Ding Ganmao would take the lead as the main controller, with Ami Liya and her Wood-type Pet Beast providing secondary control.

The tall Wang Zonghan, whose Power Level had also reached Elite, had an attack-focused Gold Element Pet Beast, so he would be the main damage dealer, with Li Qian as the secondary.

The other girl, Hu Wenjing, had a Life-type Pet Beast and would act as the team’s healer.

Lastly, there was a small, slender, pale-skinned boy who looked quite young, named Wu Mingming. He had a Dark Element Shadow Leopard and would serve as the team’s scout and roamer.

With their roles assigned, the team set out, heading straight into the Moon Shadow Forest. From start to finish, Senior Brother Du merely watched from the sidelines, saying and doing nothing.

Inside the Moon Shadow Forest, tall trees blotted out the sun and sky. The moment he stepped inside, Li Qian felt an unusual chill.

It was the distinct coolness of a place where sunlight was perennially blocked, a feeling quite common in dense forests.

Li Qian wasn’t surprised by this. The six of them entered the dense woods, their expressions all serious.

After all, this was their first real adventure; it was always wise to be cautious.

To avoid presenting too large a target with too many Pet Beasts, or scaring away any Extraordinary Creatures and thus defeating the purpose of the expedition, the group didn’t summon all of their pets.

They only summoned three.

Wu Mingming’s Shadow Leopard took the lead, scouting the path ahead. It was incredibly fast and could instantly evade danger if it encountered any.

Ah Mi’s Bell Bird was the second pet.

The Bell Bird was small, with keen senses and great speed. Flying overhead, it also served as a lookout.

The last was Wang Zonghan’s Golden Armor Terracotta Warrior, a humanoid Pet Beast. It followed along with the group, and at a glance, it didn’t look much different from a human Beast Master.

The group ventured into the Moon Shadow Forest. Senior Brother Du ambled alongside them, looking relaxed and showing no intention of interfering.

As they ventured deeper, Li Qian found the chill in the air becoming more pronounced.

For the first five minutes, nothing happened. They came across a few White Silk Worms, but the students left them alone, simply searching the area and finding several cocoons.

Li Qian recalled seeing a quest at the Yuntian City Pet Beast Center to collect White Silk Worm cocoons.

’Presumably, the freshmen collecting the cocoons must have accepted that quest.’

White Silk Worms had practically zero combat ability, so Li Qian wasn’t worried. He just watched quietly from the side with no intention of getting involved.

After gathering a few cocoons, the team pressed onward.

Another half hour passed before the group arrived at a small pond, about the size of a village fishpond.

Li Qian frowned slightly as he looked at the pond. He didn’t want to linger here, but several stalks of Jade Grass growing at the water’s edge had caught the attention of Hu Wenjing and Wu Mingming.

They were clearly preparing to gather the Jade Grass to complete a quest.

”Be careful,” Li Qian warned with a frown. Still feeling uneasy, he summoned Qizai.

The massive Cyan-Scaled Flood Dragon drew everyone’s attention the moment it appeared.

It wasn’t just the freshmen like Ding Ganmao and Wang Zonghan; even Senior Brother Du, a graduate, couldn’t help but look astonished at the sudden appearance of the Cyan-Scaled Flood Dragon.

One could guess at its combat strength just from its terrifying presence, even without knowing its stats.

’It had to be extraordinary.’

Senior Brother Du immediately pulled out a device that looked like a phone and scanned Qizai with it.

After the scan, he let out a surprised gasp. ”A Cyan-Scaled Flood Dragon, with Tier Five Dominator Potential!”

”Li Qian, your Pet Beast is really something else,” Ding Ganmao said, his eyes lighting up as he also saw the reading.

As a Second Generation Beast Tamer, he wasn’t overly impressed by a Pet Beast with Dominator Level Potential alone. But a Cyan-Scaled Flood Dragon was different. He knew some of its secrets and understood the terrifying potential it held.

After that one comment, he said no more. He knew this wasn’t the right time to discuss it.

Li Qian didn’t respond. His gaze was fixed, staring intently at Hu Wenjing, who had already walked over to pick the Jade Grass.

Just then, ripples appeared on the pond’s surface, and a single-horned crocodile suddenly burst out of the water.

”It’s a Sharp-Horned Crocodile!” Wang Zonghan was the first to shout a warning.

But it was too close. By the time Hu Wenjing reacted, it was too late to dodge.

Watching the giant crocodile lunge ferociously toward her, Hu Wenjing froze in terror, her mind going blank. For a moment, she had no idea how to react.

”Gale Slash!” Just then, in the nick of time, a sharp cry rang out as a crescent-shaped Wind Blade shot forward, slamming directly into the Sharp-Horned Crocodile’s flank.

BAM!

SPLASH!

Struck by the sudden crescent-shaped Wind Blade, the Sharp-Horned Crocodile was thrown back into the water. The crisis was averted, for now.

Only then did everyone else react, their gazes turning toward the source of the crescent Wind Blade—Li Qian’s Cyan-Scaled Flood Dragon.

Seeing that it was the Cyan-Scaled Flood Dragon that had acted in time to repel the Sharp-Horned Crocodile, everyone breathed a silent sigh of relief, but they were also a little confused.

How had Li Qian detected the enemy and reacted so quickly?
