My Players Are So Fierce

Chapter 3087 -1028: Loren! Something’s Happened to You! Don’t Resist, and No One Will Get Hurt! [8/10]_2

“Hmm, makes sense.”

The Earl thought for a moment and nodded, saying:

“Leave soldiers here to guard the position, let the logistics members of the Exploration Corps retreat with me, and send a message to the nearby Wolfsbane Clan outpost. I need them to resist this group of Merfolk advancing inland.

The surrounding area has been allocated to refugees who escaped from the Ligurian Peninsula. Once they learn about the Merfolk attacking the coast, it will undoubtedly cause unnecessary commotion. The current direction of the war is unstable, and if these hundreds of thousands of refugees riot, things will get complicated.”

The old butler nodded, turned and left to make arrangements and also to give his master time to change clothes.

When Count Leon closed the door, his teleportation mistress, who he had bought for a considerable sum for the rest of his life, had already prepared hunting gear for his journey and stepped forward to help him change.

During this process, the teleportation master from the Circle Tower spoke lightly:

“I don’t understand politics much, Leon, nor do I know much about war, but purely from the knowledge of spiritual energy and the element of abnormal creatures, if the other side has the ability to defeat the Daguan Fishmen in the ocean, it means they actually also have the ability to annihilate them.

Such a large-scale escape of Merfolk to the Continent is inconsistent with their tradition. They need to be in the water to exert their maximum combat power.

Therefore, Leon, I suspect this is a staged rout.”

“Hmm?”

Count Cape immediately frowned, asking:

“You mean, the other side wants the Merfolk to enter the Kato area, but for what reason?

Although the martial strength here isn’t as strong as the Transia People, the level of military preparation is far superior to other places. A mere group of fleeing Merfolk could at most occupy local hills and harass fishermen.

I don’t see the gains from the painstaking efforts of the other side in doing this.”

“Or maybe that’s their goal?”

The Earl’s psychic mistress, while helping him put on the intricately crafted body armor made by Duke Wolfsbane himself, whispered softly:

“As you just mentioned, the Kato area has taken in many refugees, and King Louis hopes the kingdom can absorb the mechanics among them. If a ruler like King Louis can see the value of these refugees, then other rulers can too.

The refugees are already terrified and uneasy, and the local residents are disgruntled because of their arrival. They have turned their anxiety and disdain for the war into opposition, believing these cowardly people have brought disaster upon them. Add to that the fact that the Pioneer Army is not doing well in the peninsula.

In this situation, any sign of trouble will only make the already grim local situation worse.

And the Merfolk…

This wild group appearing suddenly at this time perfectly fits all the elements of the above scenarios. Once the news of the coast being attacked spreads, once the fishermen cannot set out to sea, chaos will follow.”

This voluptuous and beautiful psychic explained her thoughts in a few words, and the Earl nodded frequently, looking at the woman who had been by his side for more than ten years with appreciative eyes, deeply feeling how worthwhile his investment was back then.

The Earl’s wife passed away several years ago, and this psychic was the most likely candidate to become the Family Matriarch of the Cape Family. But she was truly smart, never bringing up the issue proactively, and knew how to appropriately demonstrate her capabilities in front of the Earl.

She was by no means a vulgar woman who simply entertained with her looks.

Compared to her appealing appearance and mature body, it was her intelligent soul hidden within the beautiful shell that most captivated the Earl.

“There’s only one place that desires more manpower at this time.”

Count Leon donned his outerwear and picked up his cane, leaving the room accompanied by his mistress, he said warmly:

“It seems our Transylvania friends are getting greedier, but unfortunately, those mechanics can’t be given to them. His Majesty still needs them for the kingdom’s reforms, but as for the refugees who aren’t mechanics…

Hmm, the kingdom’s fundamental labor force is sufficiently abundant, leaving them here to compete with the natives for the already scarce jobs isn’t anything good.

Perhaps we should go with the flow.”

“But if the King blames you for this…”

The mistress whispered:

“You may face unnecessary reprimand.”

“Victors aren’t blamed, Runa.”

The Earl said with a squinted smile:

“King Louis won’t create a rift with his most steadfast supporter over such a trivial matter, what’s more, His Majesty is a master of political maneuvering. The officials he’s dispatched have always tried to take over the Kato area from us, but facts have shown that those ambitious young men can’t meet the king’s expectations.

Whether or not the Kato area is in chaos is for the Cape Family to decide.”

“Yes, I also think those officials eager to showcase their abilities have gone too far recently.”

Runa assisted the Earl into the carriage, she said:

“Giving them a lesson is necessary, but Leon, King Louis has begun to fear the family’s power. Owning the resources of the Kato area coupled with the wealth of the Anjou Region, any rational ruler wouldn’t allow us to continue growing stronger.

I know you are a loyal subject, but the family legacy…”

“You can’t ask me to choose between loyalty and power, Runa, no member of the King’s party should do that.”
