The Fantastic Little Farmer

Chapter 191: Chapter 191: Is the Blade More Important?

Until dawn, Zhang Yun hadn’t encountered any assassins. He couldn’t help but wonder, ”Did Qi Luo give me a false alarm, or did she deal with them herself?”

His clothes had been tossed onto the quilt. He quietly got up, put them on, and went to the bathroom to check WeChat.

Strangely, Qi Luo hadn’t reported anything back to him!

”Did Huang Tianbi’s fellow sect members not come at all? Or could they not find out exactly where I’m staying?” he wondered.

He hadn’t thought about it carefully last night, but now Zhang Yun was a bit puzzled. How did Huang Tianbi’s people know about this place?

Qi Luo and the Ouyang Family had extorted the information from Brother Long. Huang Tianbi didn’t seem to have had any time to contact the outside world before he died. Even if he had somehow sent a message, he didn’t know Zhang Yun’s exact whereabouts.

Zhang Yun sent a message to ask her and then washed his face.

As he brushed his teeth, he looked at his reflection in the mirror, feeling a bit like a stranger to himself. ”Have I really crossed the threshold into manhood?” he wondered.

It was truly an unprecedented experience, something far beyond what his own hands could provide. But now that it was morning and the heat of the moment had passed, a wave of guilt washed over him.

He felt like he had let down Yang Xiaoyun, Ouyang Mingruo, and even Xiuxun...

Yang Xiaoyun opened the door and walked in, leaning against his back.

”Don’t overthink it,” she said softly. ”It’s a big step for you, and it’s a big step for me too. It was definitely harder for me, but now that I’ve taken that step, my mindset has changed. It feels like a whole new world has opened up.”

”Yeah.”

If he didn’t say something about love right now, it would seem too callous and dismissive, like a man who just hit it and quit it. However, Zhang Yun truly didn’t know what to say.

”Haha, don’t be silly. You don’t have to take responsibility for anything. We’re both adults. Let’s just treat it as a dream. There won’t be a next time!” Yang Xiaoyun smiled and ruffled his hair.

Zhang Yun’s eyes widened. Was there really not going to be a next time? He had only just gotten a taste of it!

”Hey! If you guys are going to do your morning exercises, please close the door and don’t disturb the peace. Also, please put on that last piece of protection!” Feng Ru’s groggy, sleep-deprived voice drifted in from outside.

Zhang Yun flushed with embarrassment, but Yang Xiaoyun just covered her mouth and giggled. ”She sounds like she’s complaining, but if you pulled her in to do some morning exercises, she’d definitely be willing.”

”Uh, I’m not that kind of guy...” Zhang Yun felt even more awkward. Feng Ru had made her intentions crystal clear last night, and sure enough, Yang Xiaoyun had noticed too.

Yang Xiaoyun rolled her eyes at him. ”We aren’t that kind of people either. It was just a special atmosphere. You better think it over. Once this opportunity passes, you won’t get another chance. When she calms down and regains her senses, there won’t be any more free breakfasts.”

”I...”

The moment Zhang Yun opened his mouth, Yang Xiaoyun pushed him out. ”Get out first, I need to wash up and use the bathroom...”

She didn’t want to hear him say things like ”Having you is enough.” It was too heavy of a burden. She didn’t want to carry that weight anymore, nor did she want Zhang Yun to bear it!

Therefore, even though she felt a tinge of jealousy, she truly didn’t mind if Zhang Yun helped Feng Ru put out her fire. In fact, it would make her feel more at ease.

Zhang Yun stepped out and saw that Qi Luo still hadn’t replied to his message, so he went straight across the hall and rang the doorbell.

However, after ringing for a long time, no one answered the door!

Zhang Yun started to sense that something was wrong. Regardless of whether enemies had shown up last night, Qi Luo would definitely have stayed alert. Even if she had kept watch alone until dawn before going to sleep, she wouldn’t be dead to the world. A professional assassin had to maintain her discipline!

”Did the enemies come, and she chased them out to kill them?” he wondered.

Zhang Yun didn’t wait for her to reply anymore; instead, he initiated a video call.

A few seconds later, the call connected. However, the person who appeared on the screen wasn’t Qi Luo, but a middle-aged man with a bushy beard. They stared at each other through the screen in silence.

”Why do you have her phone?” Zhang Yun asked calmly.

”Do you want to know if that little girl is dead or alive?” the bearded man sneered. ”Bring the Blood Demon Blade and your head over here!”

Zhang Yun’s pupils contracted slightly. The Blood Demon Blade?

His very first demand wasn’t to avenge Huang Tianbi, but to retrieve the Blood Demon Blade! Was the weapon really that precious?

Zhang Yun recalled how Huang Tianbi, severely injured and with no hope of a counterattack, had spat his own blood to feed the Blood Demon Blade. That action had completely exceeded the bounds of normality. Let’s make a bold guess—could it be that they could sense the approximate location of the Blood Demon Blade?

”What’s the Blood Demon Blade?” Zhang Yun asked nonchalantly, his mind racing to analyze the situation.

”My master’s saber, a blade that craves blood!” the bearded man replied, growing impatient. ”I’ll give you half an hour. If you don’t make it by then, you can forget about ever seeing that little girl again. And you will be hunted down by us relentlessly!”

”Address.”

Zhang Yun had formed a rough hypothesis in his mind: someone had approached last night, and Qi Luo had chased them out. However, there was probably more than one person, and they had ultimately captured her.

Qi Luo’s biggest reliance was her Weapons. Without a gun or a blade in hand, her Combat Value was significantly weaker.

As for why they hadn’t contacted him earlier, it was probably because they couldn’t unlock her phone. They were only able to answer just now because he had made a video call. If that was the case, Qi Luo was likely in grave danger!

There was another possibility: they had deliberately dragged things out until dawn, which was why they hadn’t had the time to storm his room yet!

”Bright Moon Park, the highest point on the hilltop.” The bearded man quickly panned his phone around to show his surroundings. He appeared to be on a small hill in a park.

Zhang Yun hung up the video call and searched the map. Bright Moon Park was only two or three kilometers away. Half an hour was more than enough time, even on foot.

He returned to his room. Yang Xiaoyun was still washing up, and Feng Ru was still in bed.

”Sister Ru, I have an emergency and need to step out for a bit. If I’m fast, I’ll be back in time for breakfast.”

Feng Ru couldn’t help but sit bolt upright. ”Damn! You scumbag, you’re bailing already? Isn’t that a bit too hit-and-run?”

”It’s really an emergency.” Zhang Yun grabbed his car keys and a room card, then left in a hurry.

On the way, Zhang Yun continued to analyze the situation. If they could sense the Blood Demon Blade, it must have been when he took it out during his fight with Qi Luo yesterday. While it was stored in his Personal Space, they shouldn’t be able to sense it at all.

If that was truly the case, it was no wonder the man’s first sentence was about the Blood Demon Blade. Because no matter where it was tossed, they might be able to find it, but once its connection was completely severed, they had no other way. That was why they needed him to bring the blade to them!

To verify this theory, after Zhang Yun parked his car at the park, he didn’t head up to the hilltop. Instead, he found a steep, rocky crag away from the morning exercisers.

He took the Blood Demon Blade out of the Peach Blossom Spring Space and tucked it into a hard-to-see crevice between the rocks. Then, he hid himself among the boulders and waited.

Zhang Yun didn’t forget to mute his phone, just in case the other party managed to unlock Qi Luo’s device.

Calculating the time, the half-hour limit set by the other party was already up.

Zhang Yun continued to wait patiently. A few minutes later, he heard footsteps!

Zhang Yun’s spirits lifted. Morning exercisers wouldn’t come over here, and it was highly unlikely that some couple happened to drop by for a quick tryst. The footsteps had to belong to the bearded man!

Wait... there was more than one set of footsteps!

Listening closely, he could distinguish the footsteps of three people. Zhang Yun frowned inwardly.

Yesterday, he had relied entirely on a gun to kill Huang Tianbi and Yang Zhao. But after the fusion of Yin and Yang last night, Zhang Yun felt that his Power had advanced significantly. He had tested his strength afterward, and the results were noticeably profound.

That was why he had set up this trap, preparing to attack them barehanded.

Since three people had shown up... Zhang Yun decisively entered the Peach Blossom Spring Space and brought out a Weapon!
