The Fantastic Little Farmer

Chapter 188: Chapter 188: Don’t Blame Me for Being Impolite

Perhaps because of Ouyang Mingruo’s appearance, Yang Xiaoyun had a word with Feng Ru. After that, Feng Ru wasn’t quite as obvious about trying to play matchmaker, nor did she make such explicit jokes. They chatted for a while before she took a call and left.

Suddenly, it was just the two of them left, and the room grew quiet.

”Don’t overthink it,” Yang Xiaoyun explained with a smile. ”She originally just came to pick me up and didn’t set aside her whole day. She really does have something to do; she’s not just making an excuse to leave us alone together.”

Zhang Yun rubbed his nose, slightly embarrassed. ”Haha, I wasn’t overthinking it. I’ll treat you to dinner tonight. You can invite your other close friends along, too!”

”We’ll see. I’m going to sleep for a bit.” Yang Xiaoyun pointed to the other bed. ”You should rest too. Feng Ru won’t actually stay over tonight.”

”Alright.” Zhang Yun didn’t stand on ceremony.

Between the major clash at noon that had drained his energy, driving all the way here, being drugged by Qi Luo’s incense, and the indescribable events during his shower... Now that he finally had a moment to relax, he fell asleep quickly and deeply.

Yang Xiaoyun, who had been the first to mention sleeping, actually wasn’t drowsy at all. The events of the morning had been a massive shock to her. If she had been alone, she would inevitably have felt angry and wronged, crying non-stop. Even if Feng Ru had been there to keep her company, they would have just spent the time cursing Tang Zhiwei together. It was Zhang Yun’s presence that had helped her snap out of that gloomy mood.

Lying in bed now, she looked over at Zhang Yun on the neighboring bed. Seeing him sleeping so soundly brought a smile to her face.

When a man and a woman were alone in a hotel room, a woman being able to sleep peacefully meant she trusted the man completely. A man being able to sleep peacefully meant he harbored no ulterior motives toward the woman.

Comparisons were everywhere in life, and they always had a way of highlighting true worth.

Originally, in Yang Xiaoyun’s eyes, Zhang Yun was just a big boy. Even when she let him feel her heartbeat earlier, it had simply been out of a mix of gratitude and a playful urge to tease a younger man. But after Ouyang Mingruo’s arrival, her mindset had shifted. Although she didn’t know Miss Ouyang’s exact identity, it was obvious the woman had a highly significant background! For such a prestigious, outstanding beauty to actively pursue Zhang Yun...

Only then did she begin to re-evaluate Zhang Yun through the lens of masculine charm.

When Zhang Yun woke up again, it was to the sound of the doorbell.

Seeing Yang Xiaoyun about to get up to answer it, and knowing her sprained ankle made it inconvenient, Zhang Yun quickly hurried over to open the door himself.

”What were you guys doing? It took you so long to open the door,” Feng Ru teased the moment she walked in.

Zhang Yun laughed. ”We were sleeping!”

”Tch! What’s the point of sleeping fully clothed? If you’ve got the guts, go to bed right now and show me!” Feng Ru provoked.

”Are you done with your business?”

”I’m done! I messaged you guys to go eat, but you didn’t reply, so I came up here expecting to catch a live show. Turns out you two were just taking a G-rated nap!”

Zhang Yun checked the time, a little surprised. ”It’s already this late?”

”I get it, I get it. You had a little too much fun with yourself in the shower earlier, so it’s normal to be sleepy.”

Feng Ru bringing that up again made Zhang Yun blush slightly.

”Leaving a ready-made, mature, and beautiful woman untouched—are her boobs not big enough for you, or is she not pretty enough? It’s really disrespectful, you know!”

”Feng Ru!” Yang Xiaoyun scolded playfully.

”Cough! I’m going to wash my face...”

For dinner, they went back to the nearby shopping mall. One floor was dedicated entirely to restaurants, allowing them to easily pick one without having to wait for a table.

Zhang Yun treated them to the meal, while Feng Ru offered to buy their movie tickets. After eating, they went straight to the cinema inside the mall.

It was a romance film. After entering the theater, Zhang Yun noticed that everyone else was in pairs. Being the only guy accompanied by two gorgeous women made him stand out quite a bit.

The other couples likely had ulterior motives beyond just watching the movie, as they had all chosen seats either on the far sides or in the back rows. The three of them sitting right in the middle—the prime viewing area—made them even more conspicuous.

”We picked the wrong showing. We should have chosen a crowded comedy or an action movie,” Zhang Yun whispered with a laugh.

Feng Ru unceremoniously pulled Zhang Yun into the middle seat, taking the spots on his left and right with Yang Xiaoyun.

She scanned the theater, completely unfazed. ”Look at you, so spineless! If you were alone, it’d be understandable to feel awkward. But those guys only brought one girl each, while you brought two. They’re the ones envying you, alright?”

Yang Xiaoyun chuckled softly. She couldn’t even remember the last time she had watched a movie with a man. In the past, she was either bringing her child or going with her girlfriends. The feeling she had now was somewhat magical.

Zhang Yun muttered, ”That’s different. Once the lights go out and the movie starts, they can hug, they can kiss, and they can even...”

He quickly stopped himself the moment the words slipped out.

”Oho!” Feng Ru had already heard him. She leaned across Zhang Yun to speak to Yang Xiaoyun on his other side. ”Did you hear that? He’s dropping strong hints! Later, when the lights go out, give him the same treatment.”

”...”

Zhang Yun hastily backpedaled, ”Just kidding, just kidding. Having two beautiful ladies accompany me to a movie is more than enough to crush them in comparison.”

Fortunately, the theater lights went out just in time, and the loud advertisements covered up his embarrassment.

Once the movie actually started, it was inconvenient to turn around to look behind them or lean to check the sides. Whether the others were engaging in any little extracurricular activities didn’t really affect them.

Halfway through the film, Zhang Yun suddenly realized Feng Ru had grabbed his hand!

This made him immediately tense up!

He wondered, ”No way, right? Jokes aside, isn’t she trying to set me up with Sister Xiaoyun?”

Doubts aside, having his hand held by an attractive young woman in a dark movie theater still made his heart race with excitement. He didn’t pull his hand away, and his mind completely left the movie.

”What is she trying to do?” he thought. ”Is she going to put my hand on her thigh?

”If she really does that, do I pull away, or just go with the flow...

”Will Sister Xiaoyun notice? Will the shameless couples behind us see?”

Zhang Yun felt like he was becoming part of a shameless couple himself. Just as he was feeling nervous and thrilled, he suddenly felt something being slipped into his hand, and then his hand was pushed back.

He paused. ”Huh? What is this? A little note?”

Zhang Yun rubbed it gently with his fingers and felt a thin, one-inch square plastic packet. Wa—wasn’t this what Zhang Youcai had kept in his armrest box?

They were out of their cardboard packaging, and it seemed like she had shoved three of them into his hand...

He didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. His thoughts had been way too perverted just now; he had completely overthought things. But he also hadn’t expected Feng Ru to actually prepare condoms for him...

Then he felt Feng Ru lean in closer, whispering into his ear.

”Seize the opportunity to help her forget her troubles for a bit. If you don’t make a move, I’ll just assume you have no interest in her.”

Zhang Yun wanted to emphasize that it wasn’t a lack of interest, but that he really couldn’t just do that. However, the setting wasn’t convenient for him to explain himself.

”If that’s the case, then don’t blame me for not holding back!”

Zhang Yun was speechless. If I don’t sleep with Yang Xiaoyun, you’re not going to hold back on me?

He groaned inwardly. ”Can you even force this sort of thing? It depends on her feelings, my feelings, and the right mood! More importantly... I have no experience! How am I supposed to initiate something like this? I’m already nervous, and we haven’t even started!”

”Why let a good thing go to waste on an outsider? If it comes to that, I’ll just sleep with you on her behalf!”

Zhang Yun almost cried out in shock. So that was what she meant by not holding back?

”I know forcing it ruins the romance, but it sure scratches the itch!”

”...”
