The Fantastic Little Farmer

Chapter 152: Chapter 152: Hitting on Me?

Zhang Yun was instantly embarrassed. Judging by her tone, there was no nasal grogginess of someone who had just woken up; she must have been awake for a while.

”Why didn’t you say anything if you were awake?”

”I saw you staring at me so intently, I felt bad interrupting you,” Ouyang Mingruo opened her eyes and blinked.

Zhang Yun rolled his eyes. ”Sorry to burst your bubble, but I wasn’t captivated by your peerless beauty. I was looking at the sleep in your eyes.”

Ouyang Mingruo chuckled softly. ”Impossible. If you like me, just admit it openly! Sneaking peeks at me... are you feeling shy?”

DING-DONG!

The doorbell rang again.

Zhang Yun quickly pulled her arm away and sat up. ”I don’t have the energy to argue with you. I’m going to get the door!”

A genuine smile blossomed on Ouyang Mingruo’s face. Recently, she had been tortured to the point of a nervous breakdown. Even though she was physically and mentally exhausted, she remained highly alert. She had been sleeping very peacefully while leaning against Zhang Yun’s back, but the moment he moved, she instantly woke up. Seeing that he was about to get up, she deliberately pretended to drape an arm over him subconsciously, and then stopped moving altogether.

While Zhang Yun unabashedly stared at her from such a close distance, Mingruo was actually quite nervous. To pretend she was still asleep, she had to maintain a steady and natural breathing rhythm. She wanted to look at him, but she couldn’t make any sudden movements; she had to crack her eyes open just a sliver and peek through the gaps of her eyelashes. It was incredibly hard to control properly. Either she risked opening her eyes too wide, or her eyelids and eyelashes would end up fluttering. The same went for her breathing. Having a guy staring at her from so close, to the point where she could feel his breath and even his body heat, made it incredibly difficult to keep her heartbeat and breathing steady!

Zhang Yun took a look outside. Sure enough, it was Zhen Wei again. However, once he saw clearly what Zhen Wei was holding, his irritation vanished. Zhen Wei was holding several shopping bags in his hands, along with a complete outfit hanging on a hanger and covered by a plastic garment bag. Clearly, Ouyang Mingruo hadn’t been tricking him. She really had ordered clothes for him last night; they were just being delivered this morning.

”Just hand them to me.” Opening the door, Zhang Yun took the items without letting Zhen Wei inside.

As a professional bodyguard and likely a trusted aide to Ouyang Kunpeng, Zhen Wei was naturally very tactful. He didn’t ask or say a single word. However, the fact that Zhang Yun had stayed overnight here had definitely been reported to Ouyang Kunpeng already.

”Are the clothes here?”

”I’ll go get changed.”

”Just change right here. Don’t be shy, let me observe and appraise,” Ouyang Mingruo smiled, beckoning him with a hooked finger.

Zhang Yun hurried into the walk-in closet. Just as he took his clothes off, he realized something slightly awkward. The clothes were indeed a complete, matching set—there was a T-shirt and a button-up shirt, the hanger held a suit jacket, and even pants and a belt were provided. But... there was no underwear!

These were all paired from a single brand. He guessed the brand probably didn’t make underwear, and whoever bought them didn’t know he was missing that specifically, otherwise they wouldn’t have minded grabbing a pair along the way. Ouyang Mingruo probably felt too awkward to specifically request it, right? After all, ordering a set of men’s clothes could be for many reasons—a gift for a younger brother, a relative, or even to wear herself—but asking for men’s underwear was a completely different story.

Zhang Yun glanced at the sweatpants he had just taken off and decided against wearing them again. He would just go commando. It’d be breezy!

As he finished changing and walked out, he heard a faint vibrating sound coming from the bathroom. This place? This vibration? What was she doing this early in the morning? Seeing the door left slightly ajar, he hesitated about whether he should go over and take a peek. Hearing him move, Ouyang Mingruo had already walked out.

It turned out she was just brushing her teeth with an electric toothbrush... What a huge disappointment!

”Try on the shirt and the suit jacket.”

Zhang Yun felt it was too formal, but on second thought, Ouyang Mingruo had already ordered someone to deliver it. It probably couldn’t be returned, and there was no use for her to keep it, so it shouldn’t go to waste. Besides, when he went back, he couldn’t just carry the suit in his hands. Stuffing it into a shopping bag would easily wrinkle it, so it was better to pack away the T-shirt instead.

Once he had completely changed, he felt his entire demeanor had shifted. For someone who rarely wore formal attire, occasionally putting on a suit created a stark contrast, let alone one with the Advanced design flair of a famous brand.

Ouyang Mingruo opened the door and walked right in. ”Tsk, tsk, admiring yourself in the mirror? Let me be the judge of that! Looking handsome!”

Zhang Yun still felt a bit unnatural. ”I feel like a real estate agent or an insurance salesman.”

”Where would you find an agent this handsome? I think you look like a male model!”

Feeling a bit embarrassed by her praise, Zhang Yun hurriedly ran off to wash up. By the time he finished freshening up and came out, he found that Ouyang Mingruo had already done her makeup and changed into a dress.

”Are you... going out?”

”Are you saying you... don’t want to go out?”

Zhang Yun felt a little awkward. Although nothing special had happened between them in the apartment, there was still that spy, Zhen Wei, to consider. If they didn’t leave the apartment all day, it would be interpreted entirely differently once it reached Ouyang Kunpeng’s ears.

Ouyang Mingruo burst out laughing. ”We’re going out for morning tea! I don’t have any food to give you here.”

”It’s just eating breakfast... We don’t have to dress so grandly, do we? You make it seem like we’re attending a banquet.”

Zhang Yun imagined himself wearing a tailored suit while eating at a Shaxian County diner... Alright, to be a bit more international, wearing a suit to KFC or McDonald’s was also a bit exaggerated.

Ouyang Mingruo shrugged. ”This is how I normally dress. Leaving the house in shorts and a T-shirt was mainly because they were yours.” As she spoke, she had already walked up to Zhang Yun and adjusted his collar.

Zhang Yun swallowed hard. He thought, ”Am I really that special in her heart? Even if it was just a casual joke, it still feels incredibly good to hear!”

”I wore your shorts, and you wore mine. I even slept in your... bed covers, and you slept in mine. Do you still want to deny our relationship?”

Ouyang Mingruo looked closely at his face. They were no more than a foot apart.

This damn ambiguous atmosphere! In all the TV and movie scenes flashing through Zhang Yun’s mind, this was the exact moment where they would naturally lean in and kiss!

”Let’s go, time for breakfast...”

Zhang Yun tried to step back, but Ouyang Mingruo wrapped her arms around his waist.

”W-what are you doing...”

”What are you panicking for? I just want to see how your injuries are.” Ouyang Mingruo’s tone softened.

Zhang Yun’s neck had been burned, his back stabbed, and his leg caught in a trap. He was covered in injuries from head to toe, and it was all for her.

”I’m fine now. I finally got dressed up, do you want me to strip again?” Zhang Yun chuckled and turned around to let her see the back of his neck.

Ouyang Mingruo took a look, and seeing that the redness had truly faded away, she finally felt relieved.

This high-end apartment was located in the core area of the city. The surroundings were very bustling, but as a result, the rent was extremely expensive. Places like McDonald’s and KFC could afford to set up shop here, but it was much harder for a Shaxian County diner to survive.

Ouyang Mingruo wouldn’t take him to a small snack shop anyway. She led him straight to a Cantonese dim sum restaurant.

The hostess led them upstairs. Because they hadn’t made a reservation in advance, and there were only the two of them, they weren’t given a private room and had to sit in the main dining hall.

Zhang Yun didn’t mind, but Ouyang Mingruo found it too noisy and wanted to change places.

”Let me check other restaurants nearby...” She took out her phone and checked the review apps. Naturally, there was no shortage of restaurants nearby, but ones with a good environment for breakfast were much scarcer.

Zhang Yun sat down and looked around. Nearby, there was a table with several young women, which caught his eye and made him steal a few extra glances.

To his surprise, one of them walked straight over!

Zhang Yun was instantly embarrassed. He thought, ”Holy crap, no way, right? Are they coming over to hit on me just because I look handsome and am wearing designer clothes? Can’t they see there’s a beauty sitting right at my table?”

”Um... are... are you Zhang Yun?”

”Huh?” Zhang Yun froze for a second. Who was this? If she could call out his name, she definitely wasn’t here just to hit on him.
