The Fantastic Little Farmer

Chapter 185: Chapter 185: I Miss You So Much

Zhang Yun couldn’t figure Qi Luo out at all. He had to be there to keep the situation under control.

Without even bothering to button his shirt properly, he hurried out of the bathroom.

”...”

When he saw the situation in the guest room, Zhang Yun was instantly dumbfounded.

Aside from Yang Xiaoyun and Feng Ru waking up, the Qi Luo he had expected hadn’t doubled back. Instead, Ouyang Mingruo had arrived!

It made sense that Qi Luo had found this place—she must have learned about it from Brother Long. Ouyang Kunpeng could have easily found out too after sending his men to take over the factory district. With the Ouyang Family’s resources, getting his room number from the hotel was a piece of cake. But... Zhang Yun hadn’t expected Mingruo to actually track him down here.

The three women all turned their gazes toward him.

Zhang Yun offered an awkward greeting. ”Uh... what’s going on? Mingruo, why are you here?”

Ouyang Mingruo’s gaze was piercing. He had just stepped out of the shower and his shirt wasn’t even buttoned. More importantly... he wasn’t wearing the clothes he had left the house in that morning! Plus, there was an obvious bite mark on his lips!

When she had walked in moments earlier, those two women had clearly looked like they’d just been woken up, and they seemed exhausted. All these clues added up and pointed in one very specific direction!

However, since she had already falsely accused him once that morning, Ouyang Mingruo forced herself to stay calm and not jump to conclusions.

”You left so abruptly this morning and didn’t reply to my messages. I was worried about you,” she said, forcing a smile.

Zhang Yun sighed inwardly. Of course she was worried, especially after finding out about Liu Yandao. However, this wasn’t the right place to discuss it.

”Zhang Yun, what is going on here? Is this your girlfriend, or was it the girl from earlier?” Feng Ru asked bluntly.

Previously, they thought Zhang Yun’s girlfriend had come to catch him in the act. But before they could even figure out what was happening, they had lost consciousness. Waking up to such a bizarre situation was confusing enough, and then another woman showed up looking for him. This newcomer carried herself with a completely different aura of authority, which intimidated the two women into silence.

Zhang Yun already had his explanation prepared, and he seamlessly shifted into acting mode. ”Neither of them are. This is Miss Ouyang. But wait... someone came looking for me earlier? When I came back, I found you both unconscious on the floor.”

Since he hadn’t technically been caught in the act, playing dumb meant he wouldn’t have to explain anything.

”You really don’t know? That girl knew your name, too.” Feng Ru gave him a suspicious look. ”You saw us unconscious on the floor, and instead of waking us up, you just carried us to the bed and went to take a shower?”

Her words were heavy with implication. Anyone listening would naturally suspect he had done something unspeakable to their unconscious bodies that necessitated a shower afterward.

With Ouyang Mingruo present, Zhang Yun hadn’t originally planned on over-explaining himself—if she misunderstood, so be it. But this was different from the morning’s misunderstanding about him paying for a prostitute. If he didn’t clear this up, she might think he had drugged and assaulted these two women. That was infinitely more serious.

”The place I went to this afternoon was pretty filthy. Haven’t you noticed I changed my clothes? Since you two didn’t seem to have any serious injuries, I decided to grab a quick shower first.”

Yang Xiaoyun and Feng Ru nodded, finding his reasoning sound.

”You went straight to buy clothes when you got back. You threw away such a nice outfit, so it must have been really dirty.”

Zhang Yun chuckled. ”Of course. Did you really think I’d do something bad to you?”

Hearing this, Ouyang Mingruo understood the hidden truth. Zhang Yun must have been covered in blood! The outfit she had bought for him had probably been dumped at the factory.

”Wait!” Feng Ru was still puzzled. ”That girl who followed us up here specifically said she wanted to talk about you... If she isn’t your girlfriend, why would she knock us out?”

Yang Xiaoyun remained silent, her instincts telling her that the relationship between Ouyang Mingruo and Zhang Yun was far from ordinary.

Zhang Yun shook his head. ”I have no idea. Should we have the hotel pull the security footage and call the police?”

At the mention of the police, Yang Xiaoyun and Feng Ru both frantically shook their heads. If they did that, even if it didn’t draw a crowd in person, the hotel staff might leak it online. Professional ethics were a rarity these days. With the two of them here, plus another two women involved before and after, the internet would undoubtedly spin a wild tale about them having a five-way with Zhang Yun!

”You two get some rest. Miss Ouyang and I will go out and chat for a bit.”

The awkward conversation had clearly run its course. Since Ouyang Mingruo was already here, Zhang Yun wasn’t going to dodge her.

Yang Xiaoyun smiled. ”Go ahead. The coffee bar downstairs is pretty nice, a good spot to talk.”

Feng Ru opened her mouth, wanting to say something to advocate for Yang Xiaoyun. However, considering she had only known Zhang Yun for a few hours, it wasn’t her place to interfere, lest it backfire. If she were to purposely thank Zhang Yun for buying them underwear right now, she would be an absolute idiot! While it would certainly make Miss Ouyang suspicious, it would only serve to anger Zhang Yun.

After leaving the room, the two remained silent the entire way to the elevator lobby as they waited for the car to arrive.

”Are you hurt?” Ouyang Mingruo finally asked softly.

Zhang Yun laughed. ”Of course not. If a bomb couldn’t kill me last night, Liu Yandao’s hastily thrown-together trap was nothing.”

Ouyang Mingruo sighed. ”I heard what happened. There were dozens of people with knives and guns. They say there were even martial arts masters and professional killers. I know you did it to protect me, risking your own life to eliminate the threat against me... but knowing you were in such danger made me incredibly worried!”

Zhang Yun chuckled. ”I didn’t do it for you. Liu Yandao was the one looking for trouble; I was lured there.”

He was telling the absolute truth. Liu Yandao and the Liu Family’s retaliation was a headache meant for Ouyang Kunpeng. Zhang Yun had never wanted to get involved again; his hand had simply been forced.

”Still acting tough...” Ouyang Mingruo naturally didn’t believe him.

Merely hours after she texted him about Liu Yandao, the man had been eliminated. It was obvious that Zhang Yun had thrown himself into danger entirely for her sake! She had already falsely accused him that morning. Considering how many times he had laid his life on the line over the past couple of days, did anything else really matter?

Ouyang Mingruo had already let it go; she felt no jealousy or suspicion regarding his relationship with those two women. Furthermore, having seen them face-to-face, she realized those two young women were several years older than her. They were hardly competition.

It was just like that morning. Did she really consider someone like Coco to be competition? She had simply wanted to throw a little playful tantrum and have him coax her.

Gazing at Zhang Yun, she felt as though she had a thousand words caught in her throat.

”The elevator’s here.” Not being particularly good at making small talk, Zhang Yun quickly stepped inside to avoid any awkward silence.

Ouyang Mingruo followed him in. ”We’ve only been apart for half a day, but it feels like it’s been ages... I missed you so much!”

Zhang Yun let out a dry laugh. ”I bumped into Sister Xiaoyun, and then she invited her best friend over. After that, there was the whole ordeal with Liu Yandao. I’ve been so busy that time actually flew by. I didn’t even have a chance to miss you, haha.”

Ouyang Mingruo smiled softly. ”You don’t have to explain yourself. I don’t need explanations anymore. I trust you, and I know there’s nothing going on between you and them. Even if they were trying to rob the cradle, I know you wouldn’t be interested.”

”...”

Zhang Yun let out a soft chuckle. ”And you don’t have to force yourself to emphasize how much you trust me. Look at this!”

He had taken a good look in the bathroom earlier. Qi Luo had legitimately bitten him. Although it hadn’t broken the skin, there were faint teeth marks and a noticeable swelling that was clearly the result of a rough kiss.

”What?”

”I was bitten by a woman! Guess which one?” Zhang Yun winked playfully.

”A bite mark?” Ouyang Mingruo leaned in closer to inspect it.

Zhang Yun stretched his neck forward a little so she could get a better look. He wasn’t going to explain himself. She had already cleared up the misunderstanding from that morning, and taking down Liu Yandao had practically brought her to tears of gratitude. He needed new, undeniable evidence to make her give up on him.

”This looks like...” Ouyang Mingruo murmured softly before suddenly leaning forward and planting her lips on his!
