Cutesy Wife Sweet Like Honey: Mr. Mu's Nightly Dote!

Chapter 565: Chapter 608: Unknown Past

After hearing what Old Master Mu said, Ye Anxin was stunned and asked, ”Old Master, what do you mean by that?”

Old Master Mu sighed, his voice raspy, ”Anxin, when do you have some time? Let’s have a cup of tea together!”

Upon hearing this, Ye Anxin took the phone away from her ear and glanced at the time; it was just after nine in the morning. Mu Beiting had just left for the company, and Xiao Bai had just gone to the study!

Ye Anxin thought for a while, nodded, and said, ”Sure! I have time now!”

”Great! Since you’re pregnant, it’s best not to travel far. I’ll wait for you at Karo Tea Restaurant at the foot of the mountain!” After receiving Ye Anxin’s agreement, he hung up the phone.

After hanging up, Ye Anxin took out a set of clean clothes from the wardrobe to change into. She wanted to inform Xiao Bai, but worried she might disturb his studies, she decided not to. Instead, she went downstairs to find the butler and softly said, ”Butler, I need to go out for a bit. If I’m not back by lunchtime, please tell Xiao Bai I’m sorry. I’ll definitely be back to spend the evening with him!”

The butler smiled, reassuring her, ”Madam, don’t worry! The young master is not unreasonable and is easily appeased. You go ahead with your matters, and I’ll explain to him!”

”Thank you!” She said, waving to the butler and taking the small handbag she bought a few days ago as she left.

The small handbag was bought during an outing with her family of three! Now that her belly was growing bigger every day, a backpack was becoming impractical, so she bought a small handbag just to carry her phone, bank cards, and money!

Ye Anxin asked the driver to take her to the place where she had arranged to meet Old Master Mu.

As soon as Ye Anxin walked into Karo Tea Restaurant, a waiter dressed as a manager approached her with a polite smile, respectfully asking, ”Are you Miss Ye?”

Ye Anxin nodded, ”I am!”

”Old Master Mu is waiting for you in a private room on the second floor, I’ll take you up there!” With that, the tea restaurant manager gestured for Ye Anxin to follow.

”Thank you!” After thanking him, Ye Anxin followed the tea restaurant manager to the second floor’s private room.

The tea restaurant manager escorted Ye Anxin to the door of the private room, opened it for her, and after she entered, closed the door for them and then turned to leave.

Ye Anxin stood at the door and immediately saw Old Master Mu sitting by the bed.

After more than five years, Old Master Mu appeared even older, not only was his hair completely white, but even the vitality in his eyes had dimmed considerably, his face etched with the traces of time.

”Old Master!” Ye Anxin greeted him and walked over to sit opposite Old Master Mu.

Mu Huajian pointed to the tea and desserts on the table, smiling, ”Since you’re pregnant, I wasn’t sure what kind of tea you could drink, so I ordered you a cup of red date tea and some cakes and desserts. I hope you don’t mind!”

Ye Anxin smiled and shook her head, ”It’s fine! As long as it doesn’t harm the baby, I’m not picky!”

Seeing the more mature and understanding Ye Anxin in front of him, Mu Huajian sincerely said, ”You’re still the same as before, so considerate and understanding of others!”

Upon hearing this, Ye Anxin’s gaze darkened slightly, and she felt a bit self-reproachful, ”If I were mature, I wouldn’t have wasted five years not being by Xiao Bai and Uncle’s side! In the end, I still wasn’t mature enough, always easily swayed by others!”

Seeing Ye Anxin open up, Mu Huajian got straight to the point and asked, ”Anxin, please forgive my intrusion! As a father, I genuinely want to know what happened five years ago. Why did you leave Beiting? I can tell you love each other, so why separate if you love each other? Do you know? During that time, Beiting became even more cold-hearted and aloof, apart from towards Xiao Bai; I almost thought he was a demon emerging from Hell, feared by all!”

”...!” Ye Anxin looked at Mu Huajian, blinking, almost unable to imagine the childlike Uncle who always liked to compete with Xiao Bai with the man described by Mu Huajian.

Mu Huajian continued bitterly, ”Anxin, there are many things you may not know! I’m Beiting’s father, and maybe our relationship isn’t like other father-son relationships, but I am very familiar with Beiting’s character! It’s precisely because I understand him that I know he truly loves you! Because given his upbringing, no one understands his inner struggles more than I do!”

”Old Master, don’t get me wrong! What happened five years ago was because of someone’s meddling, and Uncle was slow to express his feelings to me, leaving me without a sense of security, unsure about how he truly felt about me! That’s why I was insecure, which led to so many issues!” As she spoke, Ye Anxin narrated the events of five years ago to Mu Huajian.

From her perspective, the person sitting in front of her wasn’t just anyone but a caring father worried about his son!

Also, the events from five years ago weren’t entirely Uncle’s fault; she was at fault too! She didn’t think there was anything she couldn’t tell others!

After listening to Ye Anxin’s recounting, Mu Huajian remained silent for a long time, so long that Ye Anxin almost thought he wouldn’t speak again, but he finally spoke, ”Anxin, I’m truly grateful to you, grateful that you returned to Beiting’s side! Truly! Beiting has a lot of past that’s unknown to many; he’s always longed for love, and I never provided the love he needed! Ultimately, the relationship between Beiting and me has become what it is today, and I cannot shirk responsibility! Back then, the reason Ruan Zhitong left him was all because of me! I was the one who forced Ruan Zhitong to leave Beiting! At that time, I was domineering and liked to control everything! Especially towards Beiting, because of his biological mother, I had a deep disdain for him, looked down upon him, and the only reason I brought him back was because my eldest son died in a car accident, the Mu Group was tottering and facing crisis, and Rufeng was still too young! At that time, the Mu Group was at its most difficult, surrounded by troubles and enemies, almost on the verge of collapse! I pushed him out there hoping he could spare Rufeng from all the disasters, leaving the mess of my eldest son’s legacy to him. Even if the Mu Group eventually went bankrupt, it would all be his fault, it would be his burden to bear all the guilt! If he could save the Mu Group, I planned to let him pass on a completely worry-free group to my most beloved grandson! However, I never expected that he would be so tough, reviving the failing Mu Group, making it the business leader in Jin City in such a short time! Although I am no longer with the corporation, I could feel his effort! Now, the entire Mu Group is supportive of him and looks up to him with fear! So gradually, my mindset has changed!”
