Cutesy Wife Sweet Like Honey: Mr. Mu's Nightly Dote!

Chapter 564: Chapter 607: Doesn’t Understand Love

”No...!” Mu Beiting suddenly stretched out his hand, grabbed Ye Anxin’s wrist, gently pulled her into his arms, and held her tightly.

Ye Anxin gently patted his handsome face, soothing him, ”Uncle, I’m very tired, let’s stop fooling around! You’re already thirty-five, an adult, and you’re always competing with your five-year-old son. People would laugh if they knew!”

Mu Beiting said aggrievedly, ”I just don’t like you sleeping with him!”

Ye Anxin emphasized, ”I wasn’t sleeping with him, I was just telling him a bedtime story!”

Mu Beiting stubbornly said, ”Lying on the same bed means sleeping!”

”...!” Ye Anxin couldn’t help but roll her eyes, pulling Mu Beiting to lie on the bed with her, ”Uncle, I’m so tired, let’s sleep first, okay? We can talk about this another day!” She said, yawning lazily and closing her eyes.

”...!” Ye Anxin opened her lips as if to say something but ultimately said nothing. Instead, she cuddled up with Ye Anxin, adjusting her sleeping position so she could lie comfortably in his arms.

”Good night, Uncle!” Ye Anxin closed her eyes, weakly murmured these four words, and then fell asleep soundly.

Listening to the even breathing coming from his arms, a beautiful curve appeared on Mu Beiting’s charming thin lips.

.........

Since the issue with Ye Anxin’s mother was resolved, Ye Anxin found herself with a lot of free time and was able to fulfill her promise to Xiao Bai, staying at home with him every day!

While Xiao Bai was studying, she would lie on the sofa in the study with a book to accompany him, and during his free time, she would play with Xiao Bai!

On weekends, sometimes the three of them would go shopping together, and other times, Ye Anxin would accompany Xiao Bai in painting, telling him about social affairs and family relations.

This peaceful time passed in the blink of an eye, and a month was gone!

Ye Anxin’s belly kept getting bigger and the weather kept getting colder.

One day, while Xiao Bai was studying in the study, Mu Beiting went to the company, and Ye Anxin stayed in her room to call her mother.

Upon learning that Nan Mingchuan hadn’t been bothering her mother recently, Ye Anxin finally hung up the phone with peace of mind!

Just after hanging up, as Ye Anxin was about to get up and go to the study to accompany Xiao Bai, her phone suddenly rang!

Ye Anxin picked up her phone and saw an unfamiliar number. Thinking it was a spam call, she hung up without a second thought.

But, as soon as she hung up, the phone rang again immediately.

Ye Anxin hung up again.

And it rang again after being hung up.

This time, Ye Anxin didn’t rush to hang up but instead stared at the phone for a while, thought carefully, and answered the call.

”Hello... Who is this?” Ye Anxin politely asked the person on the other end of the line.

In her view, if it was a spam call, they wouldn’t call three times persistently! So, she assumed it was someone she knew who had something important to discuss with her!

The person on the other end remained silent, and just when Ye Anxin was about to hang up, a voice she found both familiar and unfamiliar came through the line, ”Anxin, is that you?”

”Old... Old Master...?” Ye Anxin’s eyes widened in disbelief, completely taken aback that the caller was the Mu family’s Old Master, whom she hadn’t heard from in five years.

The Old Master of the Mu family said bitterly, ”It’s me! We haven’t been in touch for a long time, thank you for remembering me!”

”...!” Confronted with the Old Master’s words, Ye Anxin’s throat tightened, unsure of how to respond.

The Old Master, with a low voice, asked, ”Anxin, how have you been over the past five-plus years? I heard you made up with Beiting?”

Upon hearing his words, Ye Anxin blushed slightly and replied shyly, ”Yes, Uncle and I have reconciled!”

The Old Master expressed his regret, ”Five years ago, it was only two months after you left that I found out about your situation! I didn’t know what had happened between you two and why you left suddenly! I tried to find information, and I always wanted you to come back, but Beiting kept everything so well-hidden that I couldn’t find any clues! I wasn’t capable of finding you! Over the past five years, I’ve tried every possible way to reconcile with Beiting, to mend our relationship, and to see my grandson! However... Beiting always avoided me and never answered my calls! It’s been five years, and our relationship has not only not improved but has worsened! These past two years, I’ve secluded myself, mostly shutting myself in my room, not caring about anything! So, I wasn’t aware you had come back! It was only a few days ago that I unexpectedly heard of your return! I had someone find your phone number and kept thinking of calling you to check in, but... every time I picked up the phone, I lacked the courage to dial! You... you won’t hold this against me, will you?”

”No, not at all, why would I! Actually, it’s my fault, as the younger one, I should have reached out to you first! I shouldn’t have made you call me, so sorry, it was my oversight!” With the Old Master’s words, Ye Anxin felt even more embarrassed.

Since reconciling with Uncle, not to mention calling the Old Master to check in, she had even forgotten his existence! She had long forgotten that Uncle had an elderly father and that beyond the Mu Family Villa, there was an old home!

She was truly thoughtless! Making an elder call her first!

Thinking about this, Ye Anxin felt so ashamed and guilty that she wanted to find a hole to crawl into.

”It’s okay, it’s not your fault! In fact, I’ve always been nothing more than a decoration as the Old Master! And this outcome is self-inflicted!” The Old Master replied with a helpless smile, hesitating for a while before he couldn’t help but ask, ”Anxin, can you tell me what exactly happened five years ago? Why did you leave Beiting! I always thought you were the one who tolerated him the most, who understood him and forgave him the most! Back then, I had lots of hope in you, hoping you could warm his heart! Yet I never expected that one day you would leave him too!”

Though there was no blame in his words, Ye Anxin felt even more guilty after hearing them!

Ye Anxin lowered her head, speaking with self-reproach, ”This... this is a long story... The events five years ago were not just Uncle’s fault, I was at fault too! I shouldn’t have heeded others’ words instead of trusting Uncle, doubting his feelings for me!”

”Beiting, this child, has lacked a sense of security since childhood. He has never felt warmth from the world, let alone from family members! So, he doesn’t know how to love someone. Even if he loves someone deeply, he might not be aware that it’s love! Like with Ruan Zhitong eleven years ago, he loved her so much back then that he even left the Mu family to be with her! But he never knew that he didn’t truly love Ruan Zhitong; he only loved that pure innocence!”
