Cutesy Wife Sweet Like Honey: Mr. Mu's Nightly Dote!

Chapter 558: Chapter 601: I Don’t Like You Like This

”Uncle...!” Ye Anxin walked to Mu Beiting’s side, hesitantly looking at him.

Xiao Bai stood up, held Ye Anxin’s hand, and asked with concern, ”Mom, where have you been all day?”

Ye Anxin sat down on the sofa, looked Xiao Bai in the eye, patted his little head, and answered with a smile, ”Mom went to see grandma! Grandma wasn’t feeling well today, so Mom was taking care of her all day!”

”Oh!” Xiao Bai responded flatly, without saying much.

Hurt by Xiao Bai’s indifferent response, Ye Anxin asked sadly, ”Xiao Bai, don’t you care about grandma’s health? Isn’t there anything you want to ask Mom?”

Xiao Bai blinked and said matter-of-factly, ”Why should I care?”

”...!” Struck by Xiao Bai’s innocent and straightforward question, Ye Anxin was speechless for a moment.

Right! Xiao Bai had no emotional ties with his mother since childhood. Why would he care about a grandmother who is practically a stranger? His indifferent attitude shouldn’t surprise her, right?

Just as Ye Anxin was struggling to explain, Mu Beiting put down the newspaper and stood up, ”Alright, let’s eat!”

”Oh!” Ye Anxin nodded and led Xiao Bai to the dining room.

During dinner, Mu Beiting casually asked, ”Is everything settled with your mother-in-law?”

Ye Anxin hesitated for a moment and then truthfully said, ”No.”

Mu Beiting remained expressionless, showing no change, and asked, ”What’s wrong?”

Holding a bowl and chopsticks in her hands, Ye Anxin said sorrowfully, ”Uncle, my mom is too soft-hearted. She did promise me not to see my dad again! But I’m afraid my dad won’t give up. With my mom’s personality, I’m almost certain she will forgive him and start seeing him again. For the past twenty-six years, Ye Shan has caused us so much pain. My mom was heartbroken and tried to leave him many times, but she never could resist his pleas and stayed. Even though she had to repay his debts every day and was chased by loan sharks without a moment of peace, she never left him. After all, my mom has always loved my dad, and a woman can’t resist sweet words from the man she loves, especially a woman with my mom’s character!”

Mu Beiting continued eating and asked, ”So?”

Lowering her gaze, Ye Anxin helplessly said, ”In the end, it’s my dad’s attitude that matters most! If he never gives up, constantly pesters my mom, and doesn’t give her a rightful place, making her sneak around, she’ll never break free from his control! Then, my mom will be caught between me and my dad, and as time goes by, I’m afraid she won’t be able to take it!”

Mu Beiting nonchalantly said, ”Then don’t let Nan Mingchuan find your mother-in-law!”

Waiting for Mu Beiting to say that, Ye Anxin quickly followed, ”So, Uncle, I want to ask for your help!”

Mu Beiting glanced at her and said lightly, ”Let’s eat first, and we’ll talk in the room later.”

To Ye Anxin, Mu Beiting’s response meant he agreed.

Ye Anxin’s mood improved instantly, and she quickly lowered her head and ate fervently!

Meanwhile, Xiao Bai, who had been silent during dinner, protested discontentedly, ”Why do you have to talk in the room? Is it because you don’t want me to know?”

Mu Beiting glared at him coldly, ”One does not speak when eating or sleeping!”

Upon hearing this, Xiao Bai pouted, puffed his cheeks, and continued eating sullenly.

Ye Anxin, with food in her mouth, squinted her eyes and asked with a smile, ”Xiao Bai, haven’t you always been uninterested in other people’s business? Why are you suddenly interested in this matter about grandma?”

Xiao Bai pouted, blushed slightly, and admitted shyly, ”I’m not interested! But since it involves you, I want to know!”

”Oh!” Ye Anxin replied indifferently!

For a brief moment, she thought Xiao Bai was concerned about her mother, bringing a small sense of joy!

But in the end...

Sigh...

Looks like it’ll take time, can’t rush it!

The three of them finished dinner, and although Ye Anxin was eager to discuss the matter with Mu Beiting, she still followed the usual routine of taking a walk in the garden with Xiao Bai and Mu Beiting to help with digestion.

Once their dinner was mostly digested, the three returned to their rooms to shower and prepare for rest.

Back in the room, Ye Anxin quickly washed up and waited on the bed for Mu Beiting.

When Mu Beiting finished showering and came out, Ye Anxin eagerly picked up a dry towel, gesturing for him to sit by the bed while she knelt on the bed to dry his hair.

As Ye Anxin dried the water droplets from Mu Beiting’s hair, she laughed and said, ”Uncle, I actually don’t want you to do anything else. I just want you to help by having two people watch from my mom’s building. If they see my dad, stop him from going up to see my mom!”

Mu Beiting raised an eyebrow and asked, ”Do you think that will solve the fundamental problem?”

Ye Anxin froze and asked puzzledly, ”What do you mean?”

Mu Beiting patiently repeated, ”Do you think that will solve the problem? Is it really enough to stop them from meeting?”

Ye Anxin explained, ”I thought if you could send people to watch from downstairs and stop my dad from seeing my mom, given my dad’s intelligence, over time, with enough attempts being thwarted, he’d naturally give up!”

Mu Beiting asked calmly, ”Is that really it? You don’t need me to send someone to warn him?”

Ye Anxin shook her head, ”No need! Although I dislike him pestering my mom and disagree strongly with his behavior, in the end, he is my dad. Even if I don’t acknowledge the family tie, I don’t want our relationship to become strained, and I especially don’t want my mom caught between the two of us!”

Listening to Ye Anxin, Mu Beiting said nothing, simply agreeing, ”Alright!”

”Uncle, thank you! You’re the best!” Ye Anxin joyfully hugged Mu Beiting’s neck from behind and warmly kissed his cheek.

Unexpectedly, before she could pull away from the kiss, Mu Beiting suddenly grabbed her arms wrapped around his neck, turned abruptly, and pinned her onto the bed.

Staring into the handsome face so close to her, Ye Anxin couldn’t help but swallow, ”Uncle... Uncle...!”

Mu Beiting frowned, displeased, ”I don’t like you this way!”

Ye Anxin blinked, confused, ”What way?”

”The way you just acted!” Mu Beiting sternly said, and if listened to closely, one could hear a hint of coquettishness in his tone.

Ye Anxin still didn’t understand what Mu Beiting meant earlier and asked, bewildered, ”What way? Caring about my mom?”

Mu Beiting said somewhat aggrievedly, ”No! I don’t like you pleasing me for the sake of others!”
