Marvel: Odin Imprisoned Me with Hela

”Nick Fury believes that since you could immediately adapt after being out of touch with the times for several hundred years, you can definitely help the Captain, who just woke up.”

A light smile bloomed at the corner of Natasha’s mouth as she spoke.

”Then he miscalculated. The phrase ’the world has changed’ is completely meaningless to me.”

Orion Cross himself was a modern person, so there was no such thing as being out of touch with the times. As for people he knew, the only one was the Ancient One, who could be considered a former comrade-in-arms. But the Ancient One was an old immortal who could endlessly extend her lifespan by absorbing dimensional energy, and Orion Cross did not have any other thoughts about her either. So Orion Cross would never be like Captain America, having an unfinished dance, an unkept appointment, or someone he had missed.

”Mm.”

Natasha stuffed the last piece of bread into her mouth, only then realizing that what Orion Cross was eating seemed different from hers. ”What’s that in your hand?”

”An egg pancake. You can think of it as a kind of Chinese taco.”

”Skye put cold kelp salad, tenderloin, sausage, shredded potatoes, bacon...”

Orion Cross took a sip of milk, pulled out two napkins to wipe his hands, and stood up. ”Are you full? We can leave now.”

”Unfair. I want that tomorrow too.”

Natasha looked at the half-eaten egg pancake in front of Orion Cross with lingering resentment and swallowed. Why did she have to eat dry bread with jam? The difference was way too big.

”Aren’t you on vacation tomorrow?”

Orion Cross looked at Natasha in surprise. This woman was not planning to keep staying here to freeload meals, was she?

”Can’t I?”

Natasha smiled lightly, then looked at Skye. ”Please.”

”No problem, as long as you’re used to eating it.”

Skye calmly nodded. Mystique Raven and Invisible Woman Susan rarely ate here anymore because of work. Having one more Natasha around would not make much difference to her.

As for how the two companies were developing now? Leaving aside their professional abilities for the time being, one could turn invisible and the other could shapeshift. With those two abilities, how could other companies possibly still have any business secrets? Of course, the two of them still had some restraint. According to her original setting, Mystique should have been willing to do whatever it took, but the first time she tried to kill someone in the mutant world, she had failed and was stopped by Orion Cross. So now, she had returned to her original personality. If others did not take the initiative to use shady methods, they would not strike either.

Orion Cross had just gotten up and was preparing to leave when Natasha suddenly took out a makeup kit from her bag and walked into the house.

”Wait a moment. I’ll borrow your bathroom.”

”All right, let’s go.”

Just when Orion Cross thought he would have to wait half an hour, Natasha walked straight back out again.

”Not bad. A top-tier agent’s makeup speed is also top-tier. When you have time, I suggest you make a video teaching women all over the world and save their boyfriends.”

Orion Cross, who had just sat back down on the sofa before it even got warm, stood up again and could not help teasing her.

”I think you don’t understand women at all.”

Natasha rolled her eyes when she heard that, opened the door to her car, and got in.

”No one understands women better than me.”

Orion Cross sat in the passenger seat and said with a smile.

”Mm-hmm? You seem a little too confident.”

Natasha clearly could not understand a phrase that would only become popular more than ten years later thanks to Trump.

The car did not drive to a suburban S.H.I.E.L.D. branch. Instead, it stopped directly at S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters.

”Agent Romanoff.”

”I’m bringing Consultant Orion to see the Captain.”

After Natasha showed her documents, the security agents at the entrance stepped aside.

”Instead of keeping him in a proper high-level medical room, you brought him here. Is S.H.I.E.L.D. planning to let him relive an old dream?”

After entering the elevator, Orion Cross spoke.

”It was Nick Fury’s idea.”

”Then that idea is really stupid enough.”

The elevator stopped on the third floor. Natasha and Orion Cross walked out and arrived outside a large container. More than a dozen agents surrounded the area, sealing off the surroundings. Among them was also a familiar face.

”Are you here to role-play as your aunt?”

Orion Cross walked forward and shook hands with Sharon Carter, who had dyed her hair brown.

”It’s just a mission. But the news that the Captain was dug out still hasn’t been told to her. Everyone is worried she won’t be able to handle it.”

A trace of worry flashed through Sharon’s eyes as she spoke.

”Seeing the past again will definitely make her sad, but don’t underestimate the mental fortitude of one of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s founders. No need to worry.”

Orion Cross patted Sharon on the shoulder, opened the container door, and walked inside.

As soon as he entered, the layout inside was immediately visible. It had been completely transformed into a hospital room from the 1940s. On the table in the room was an antique radio. The host inside was dispiritedly explaining a game. An old-fashioned electric fan slowly turned from the ceiling, and there was not even an air conditioner in the room. On the iron-framed bed lay a person who had just been thawed and had not yet woken up.

”This is the old popsicle you were talking about, but he’s already been thawed. We just don’t know when he’ll wake up.”

Natasha followed him inside and explained to Orion Cross. After a month of safety simulations, S.H.I.E.L.D.’s researchers had finally completed the thawing process in the safest possible way.

Seeing Steve Rogers sleeping so peacefully, Orion Cross became even more certain that Hydra’s spies were all idiots before they were exposed. Who was Captain America? Hydra’s mortal enemy! Yet during this entire period, not a single person had thought of taking the chance to deal with him before he woke up. Even the Hydra infiltrators among the researchers clearly had opportunities to deliberately create errors and cause problems during the thawing process. In the end, everything had gone absurdly smoothly, and the Hydra spies had worked even harder than S.H.I.E.L.D. itself.

”I need you to help me with something.”

After glancing at the newly triggered mission, Orion Cross spoke to Natasha.

”What?”

”On top of Motherfucker Man’s setup, add another scene for the old popsicle.”

The corner of Orion Cross’s mouth lifted slightly. ”Believe me, once this scene is added, he won’t have any psychological health problems after arriving seventy years into the future.”

”I’ll ask for you.”

Natasha froze for a moment, then took out her phone and went outside to make a call.
