Not Being a Trainer This Time

Looking at the information on the screen, Naoki couldn’t help but think: Geeta seems to accept new things pretty quickly.

Thinking this, he casually mentioned it.

Soon, Geeta replied with a cheerful smile.

[Geeta: Of course, as the chief Champion of the Paldea League, I must keep up with the times, otherwise it’ll be easy to have a generation gap with you youngsters.]

Naoki: ”...”

After finishing the communication with Geeta, it wasn’t long before Naoki received several calls asking to add him as a friend.

These were from the Unova League Champion Alder, the Champion of the Galar Region Leon, and the Gym Leader of Levincia Gym, Lono.

Alder’s avatar was a photo of him with Volcarona, in which Alder had an enthusiastic smile and was full of energy.

[Alder: So this is the phone you talked about back then? It’s really convenient! Now I can’t live without it!]

Leon’s avatar was a photo of him commanding Pokemon in a shimmering spotlight.

[Leon: You’re at the ranch, right? I’ll be taking a vacation soon and plan to visit you, are you free?]

Lono’s avatar was also a photo of herself.

[Lono: Finally added you! Hehe, I knew it, Naoki, you also got a Rotom Phone!]

Seeing these messages, Naoki smiled and replied to each one.

[Naoki: Useful, isn’t it?]

[Naoki: I’m here, got time, always welcome!]

[Naoki: Yeah, compared to the old communicators, the Rotom Phone is so convenient, I guess no one can refuse it.]

Alder and Leon exchanged a few pleasantries with him and then stopped replying, except with Lono, he chatted a bit more.

[Lono: Hehe, what are you doing now?]

[Naoki: I’m preparing to go to the bank in town to register and link my bank card to online banking. Are you on vacation now too?]

As far as he knew, every year-end, Paldea Region Gym Leaders take a vacation, during which they can move freely without accepting challenges from Trainers at the gym.

As expected, Lono confirmed it.

[Lono: That’s right, I went back to my old home a while ago, now I’m helping my mom with lunch!]

Saying this, Lono also sent over a photo.

In the photo, Naoki saw Lono with flour all over her hands, and beside her was a very kind-looking auntie.

That must be Lono’s mother.

In the games, it seems the Gym Leaders’ parents never appeared...

But on second thought, a family that can raise such a cheerful and lively child like Lono must be very happy and fulfilled.

After a brief chat, Naoki got up and went out, riding Koraidon to Porto Marinada Town, ready to handle some online banking business in town.

Meanwhile, in a mansion in Levincia City.

Lono’s mother, watching her daughter’s silly smile, couldn’t help but feel moved, raising her slender eyebrows:

”Did you get a boyfriend?”

Lono quickly shook her head to deny: ”No, no boyfriend, just a friend I knew before!”

The woman, very familiar with her daughter, said with a knowing smile: ”Doesn’t seem like it to me! I heard that you often travel across the whole Paldea Region to visit someone in the far west at Porto Marinada Town.”

\And with Levincia City so far away from Porto Marinada Town, knowing her daughter, it was impossible for her to go there for no reason.

Lono tried to explain: ”That was work arranged for us Gym Leaders by the chief!”

The woman looked on with a ”go on, I’m listening” expression.

Once Lono finished, she laughed and asked: ”Honestly, no feelings at all?”

Lono, caught out, could only admit: ”Alright, I admit, just a little bit of feeling!”

Thus, the woman turned around and told her husband about it.

During dinner, the couple stared at Lono, their expressions rather sentimental.

”After this year, the child will be eighteen years old!”

”Tsk tsk, our daughter has grown up! She’s becoming an adult before we know it.”

”Time flies so fast; I still remember when she was three, she was only this tall, now she’s almost becoming an adult who can stand on her own!”

Lono: ”...”

Lono suddenly felt a little exasperated.

”Was it love at first sight?” the man suddenly asked.

Lono felt defeated and replied honestly: ”Not really...”

Lono couldn’t quite explain her feelings.

The first time they met, she thought Naoki was an old man; the second time she saw that Naoki had specifically cut his hair and shaved, and even asked her if he looked much younger.

At that time, Lono found Naoki interesting, and his personality quite endearing.

Lono wasn’t lying just now; she indeed has some feelings for Naoki.

The couple, looking at their daughter’s situation, smiled and encouraged her: ”Go for it, Lono! If you like him, then take the initiative! Just like when I pursued your mom!”

Faced with these unconventional parents, Lono was even more exasperated.

She decided to take Bellibolt and leave tonight! Head back to her own place!

After finishing the online banking business in town, Naoki rode Koraidon back to the ranch.

Looking at the long string of numbers in the online bank, Naoki suddenly realized that unknowingly he had become a millionaire.

He felt like nothing had changed compared to before!

Life continued as usual; although life at the ranch was plain, Naoki felt that such a simple life was all the more precious.
