Not Being a Trainer This Time

It was a snowy day.

Outside the window was a world of ice and snow, the entire world enveloped in white snow.

Naoki sat on the sofa, took out the fifty phones he had pre-ordered, and began installing software on each one.

Although the Rotom Phone had just been released, the app store was already filled with various software.

The software in this world is quite straightforwardly named, most of them using Pokemon-related content for names.

For example, Pichu TV, Pichu Live, Poke Communications, Pelipper Delivery, Pokemon Online Shopping, Pokemon Online Banking, Pokemon Forum, etc.

The icon for Pichu TV is a rectangular Pikachu headpiece with a TV screen inside, making it look just like a Pichu TV.

As the name suggests, this app is used for watching TV and movies.

Pichu Live and Pichu TV belong to the same internet company, and live streams by video hosts can be uploaded anytime for subscribers to watch on Pichu TV.

Poke Communications is a software for chatting and making friends, developed by the internet department of Rotom Technology Company based on the information provided by Naoki.

Whether it’s the interface or functions like Moments, they’re very similar to WeChat, which Naoki used in his previous life.

Both the Pelipper Delivery and Pokemon Online Shopping apps were developed by Rotom Technology Company.

One is for food delivery, the other for online shopping.

Naoki clicked in to see that Pelipper Delivery was recruiting shop registrations and Pokemon riders.

Pokemon Online Shopping was similar; since the software was newly uploaded, not many people had downloaded it.

Pokemon Online Banking is similar to Alipay, a mobile software that users can use for payments and transfers, very convenient.

And Pokemon Forum is a place for netizens from different regions to learn about current news and communicate with each other.

Naoki clicked in to see several randomly pushed questions from curious netizens.

For instance, a netizen named [Desert Tyrant] was asking: hello? Can anyone see this?

Clicking through the comments, there were a few replies, mostly greeting [Desert Tyrant] and expressing amazement at how miraculous the Rotom Phone and the internet were!

Naoki: ”...” Look at these people acting so naive.

He closed the software; the house had the best internet setup since they bought the computer, making both download and browsing speeds very fast.

Moreover, it’s worth mentioning that the Rotom Phone is very special; as long as there’s a Rotom inside, it can access the internet anytime, anywhere without Wi-Fi.

Naoki guessed this was probably due to the unique nature of the Pokemon Rotom?

Because he noticed that phones without Rotom needed to insert a special internet card to use the internet features.

Of course, phones with built-in Rotom were also more expensive than regular phones.

It took about eight minutes for all the necessary software on the first phone to be installed.

Naoki registered a personal account for Poke Communications for Calyrex, then handed the phone over to Calyrex.

Calyrex reached out and took it, looking curiously at the electronic device made by humans.

”Is this the phone you used to tell me about?” He asked.

Naoki nodded with a smile and said, ”That’s right!”

He leaned in a bit closer, pointing to the apps on the screen and introduced them to Calyrex:

”This is Pichu TV, an app used for watching movies; with it, you can watch movies on your phone anytime without ads.”

Hearing this, Calyrex’s eyes brightened, and he spoke with some excitement, ”Really?”

”Wanna give it a try?” Naoki smiled. ”Just a simple touch on the screen will open the app. Of course, the phone has a Pokemon named Rotom, and you can tell it to open the app for you.”

”If there’s anything you don’t understand, you can also ask Rotom, and it will tell you everything it knows.”

Upon hearing this, Calyrex let go.

The Rotom Phone floated automatically in front of him.

Calyrex tried saying, ”Rotom, help me open the movie.”

”Received.”

Rotom’s voice sounded, and in the next second, Pichu TV on the screen opened automatically, with movies and animations neatly arranged in front of Calyrex.

Then, Rotom began introducing each movie and video to Calyrex.

Calyrex tried opening a movie he had watched before.

”Play The Slugma-Powered Home.”

Rotom: ”Now playing The Slugma-Powered Home.”

The movie indeed started playing on the screen.

Watching this scene, four big words spontaneously appeared in Calyrex’s mind.

Truly magical! This phone is a great thing!

Then, Naoki introduced the following apps to Calyrex one by one.

When introducing Poke Communications, he opened his phone and added Calyrex as a friend.

Naoki: ”From now on, with this, you can contact me anytime, whether through video calls or text messages. Oh, by the way, Rotom will assist in translating your words into human language and automatically convert them into human text for sending.”

”This here is your personal homepage, where you can change your username and avatar.”
