Not Being a Trainer This Time

After crossing the river, the three arrived at Snorlax Park.

After many days, Professor Sada finally saw that special Flutter Mane again.

At this moment, there were already quite a few Pokemon gathered in Snorlax Park.

A group of Eevee was bouncing up and down on Snorlax’s belly as if it were a trampoline.

Meanwhile, Flutter Mane was alone on a slide, curiously using its wing claws to slide down.

Seeing this, Professor Sada’s eyes lit up.

A ferocious ancient Pokemon playing on a slide—a rare sight indeed!

Naoki, nearby, recounted in detail the events that happened after Flutter Mane arrived at the ranch.

”Initially, Flutter Mane still retained its ancient habits. It would sneak out at night to hunt, preferring to eat raw meat, tearing chunks with its sharp teeth.”

Professor Sada nodded; this was the ecological trait of Pokemon like Flutter Mane.

Affected by the ancient era’s ferocity and primal energy, all ancient Pokemon retained very primitive habits.

Much like the wild men described in some adventure books.

”Later, I had Koraidon introduce it to modern life, teaching it what to do and what not to do. To change Flutter Mane’s nocturnal habits, I gave it some stimulating coffee. Gradually, Flutter Mane adapted to life on the ranch.”

”Did Flutter Mane make any friends?” Professor Sada asked.

Naoki thought for a moment and then said, ”Flutter Mane still prefers to be solitary, rarely acting charmingly toward me like other Pokemon. But when I pat its head and groom its fur, it does show a look of enjoyment.”

”Flutter Mane gets along fairly well with the other Pokemon; it likes watching them play around, though it’s closest with Koraidon.”

”I understand.” Professor Sada nodded lightly, taking out her camera to capture the precious moment of Flutter Mane playing on the slide.

Professor Sada stayed a while longer to observe before following Naoki back to the living room.

Arven was very interested in the Pokemon at the ranch, so Naoki had his brother Indeedee take him for a tour.

Meanwhile, he stayed in the living room chatting with Professor Sada.

Professor Sada took a sip of hot tea and said, ”It’s unusually cold this winter!”

Naoki smiled, ”Are you and Professor Turo planning to come to the surface to celebrate the New Year this year?”

”Not sure yet,” Professor Sada replied, thinking about her research. She continued, ”It depends on whether the research facility is busy. If we can’t make it back, we’ll have Arven join us.”

Naoki nodded slightly, ”With you guys around, Arven will definitely be happy.”

”Yes,” Professor Sada nodded, ”That child is the pride of Turo and me. Next year, Arven will be going to Paldea Academy, where he’ll make more new friends.”

That way, Arven won’t feel lonely.

Hearing this, Naoki couldn’t help but feel emotional.

Time flies so fast!

When he first came, Arven was a quiet little kid, and now, in the blink of an eye, he’s off to school.

Just unsure if Professor Sada’s hopes can be realized.

Because, as seen in the game, Arven remained alone even while studying at Paldea Academy. Later, when Mabosstiff was injured, he roamed around seeking ways to heal it on his own.

At that time, Arven met the game’s protagonist and, after an adventurous exploration of Zone Zero, became good friends with the protagonist, Nemona, and Penny.

Speaking of time, Naoki suddenly became curious about the Time Machine in Zone Zero.

From what he knew, with the current technology in the Pokemon World, it’s impossible to create a Time Machine, as time travel is the domain of Dialga and Palkia.

”Professor, can the Time Machine in Zone Zero truly achieve time travel?” Naoki asked curiously.

Professor Sada nodded slightly, ”Of course, it is thanks to its power that we summoned so many ancient and futuristic Pokemon to the present era.”

”Does that mean humanity can now explore distant pasts and futures through the Time Machine?” Naoki inquired.

”About that...” Professor Sada pondered briefly before replying, ”To be honest, we currently cannot pinpoint exact times, nor can we precisely locate a specific time point. We can only summon Pokemon from general time periods.”

”As for traveling back to explore...” As a researcher, Professor Sada had conducted much research in this area.

She organized her words before speaking, ”While witnessing that era firsthand is Turo’s and my dream, we do not intend to do so.”

”Why is that?” Naoki asked.

Professor Sada looked at him and asked, ”Have you heard of the temporal paradox, where time travel or temporal traversal leads to logically contradictory conclusions?”

”Furthermore, time is a developmental line. Everything you do has cause and effect. If your actions in the past alter history, then everything in the future will change, and you’ll never be able to return to the time you knew.”

Naoki listened, feeling bewildered.

Professor Sada continued, ”In the past, some scientists proposed several hypotheses to solve the temporal paradox.”
