Not Being a Trainer This Time

”For example, the hypothesis of ’parallel universe’ is quite popular. Some scientists believe that our world has many similar clone worlds within the Cosmos.”

”And when someone goes back to the past, he enters another parallel world, a future world altered by his actions. And the secondary world may collapse and disappear at some moment, perhaps the instant you yourself travel back to the past.”

Naoki: ”...” I completely don’t understand!

Seeing the expression on his face, Professor Sada couldn’t help but laugh: ”In short, you play with time, and time will play with you. Some predetermined facts simply cannot be changed.”

”If you force a change, then everything in the future will collapse because of your actions. Everyone you know, all the Pokemon, and everything will be affected by the butterfly effect and change.”

”For instance, if someone from the future time travels to the past to prevent their grandmother and grandfather from getting married, then the future person will disappear, having never existed.”

”...It’s so complex.”

Looking at Professor Sada in front of him, Naoki couldn’t help but gripe in his heart: So is the outcome of the two professors dying in their research due to playing with time?

He had previously tried to alter the fate of Professor Sada and Professor Turo, but wasn’t sure if he succeeded.

Professor Sada sat for a while and then prepared to leave.

There were things waiting for her to handle at the research lab, and next she planned to take Arven with her to Zone Zero.

If there’s no time, then their family of three would spend the New Year there.

Seeing this, Naoki got up to see them off.

”Be careful!” he said.

Professor Sada flashed a smile and then disappeared with Arven on that country road.

Naoki returned to the living room, only to see Cyclizar looking lost without knowing what it was thinking.

Naoki raised an eyebrow: ”What’s up? What are you thinking about?”

”Gao.” Cyclizar replied.

Calyrex casually helped translate, explaining that Cyclizar was perplexed by Professor Sada’s time paradox.

Cyclizar asked: ”Gao?” (Does Naoki understand what it means?)

Naoki thought carefully and then began to explain to Cyclizar in detail what he understood it to mean.

”For example, I used to also have parents, right?”

Cyclizar nodded, everyone, every Pokemon has parents.

”If someone travels back to the past and stops my parents from falling in love, then I would never be born, and I would also be affected and disappear due to the butterfly effect... That’s what Professor Sada said.”

But Naoki was somewhat uncertain, since this world indeed has the God of Time, and some scientific theories from his past life simply don’t apply in this miraculous Pokemon World.

Cyclizar listened, half understanding.

Naoki wanted to say more, but the house’s video phone suddenly rang.

Naoki went to answer it and heard the voice of Mei on the line.

Mei, the granddaughter of the Pokemon ranch store owner in town.

”Is Mr. Naoki at home?”

”Yes, is something wrong?” Naoki asked.

Mei replied: ”It’s like this, two days ago my grandfather encountered an injured Tropius in the wild jungle. That Tropius was supposed to fly south for the winter, but its wings are injured and it can’t fly.”

”The weather is getting colder and snow is about to fall; although its injury has healed, traveling south again at this time isn’t possible. So Grandpa plans to find a Trainer to help take care of Tropius. Could you see if you have time?”
