Not Being a Trainer This Time

After hanging up the phone, Naoki immediately headed to Porto Marinada Town.

When he arrived there, Amey was sorting food in the shop, and upon seeing Naoki, she immediately took him to the location of the Tropius.

”The Tropius is temporarily residing in the ranch, but due to losing its companions, its mood has appeared quite downcast.”

As they walked, Amey began to introduce the situation of the Tropius.

Upon hearing this, Naoki nodded to indicate his understanding.

Tropius, this type of Pokemon, mostly inhabit tropical jungles, especially the Alola Region, where their numbers are extremely extensive.

However, in other regions, some Tropius still reside.

These Tropius have rather special ecological habits.

Perhaps due to the different living environments, every time the cold winter arrives, these Tropius often form large groups with other Tropius and fly to the warm south.

Only returning when the weather warms up, this is somewhat similar to swallows.

The two continued forward and after passing through a field of withered yellow grass, Naoki finally saw the Tropius by a small lake.

The size of the Tropius in reality is very large, with a height exceeding two meters, its whole body a brownish gray, resembling coconut trees growing by the seaside.

Its neck is long, limbs extremely stout, and three green leaves grow atop its head, at a glance appearing like a tree wrapped in leaves.

The Tropius also has four giant leaves growing on its back, which are its wings, enabling it to fly by flapping them.

However, the most attention-grabbing feature is the string of banana-like yellow fruits hanging from its chin.

”This is the Tropius. Mr. Naoki, have you seen a Tropius before?” Amey asked.

Naoki: ”I’ve only seen them from afar, haven’t had close contact.” He had previously seen Tropius over at Casseroya Lake.

The water source there is abundant, vegetation lush, air fresh, a place favored by Tropius.

”I see!” Amey lightly nodded and then began to introduce: ”Tropius, this type of Pokemon, can be raised, you know!”

”The fruits that hang from their necks, a Tropius will bear fruit twice a year. I’ve tasted them before, and the flavor is extremely sweet and delicious.”

”I heard that in the Alola Region, children often eat the fruits borne from Tropius’ necks as snacks, and because these fruits are very popular, many ranches are established there to cultivate Tropius.”

”But here in Paldea, due to the climate, the fruits borne by Tropius are not nearly as sweet as those in the Alola Region.”

Naoki nodded as he listened.

He glanced over at the not-so-distant Tropius and couldn’t help but remark: ”The size of the Tropius is really huge!” Almost comparable to an elephant.

Amey hummed in agreement and then said with a smile: ”But Mr. Naoki, don’t worry! Tropius have a very gentle disposition, even wild Tropius, when encountering humans in need, will voluntarily share the fruits from their necks with them.”

As she spoke, Amey approached the Tropius and gently patted its head, saying:

”Tropius, don’t worry! We’ve already found a trainer willing to take care of you, and it’s this gentleman here.”

The downcast Tropius followed Amey’s gaze and spotted Naoki standing to the side.

Naoki proactively waved at it: ”Hello, Tropius, I’m Naoki, currently managing a ranch. If you’re willing, you could stay at my place this winter!”

It’s a pity Tropius isn’t a Dragon Type Pokemon, otherwise Dragon Power could be effective on them, Naoki thought.

Upon hearing what he said, the Tropius raised its long neck and looked over.

It saw a very kind human, who was smiling friendlily at it.

Amey nodded: ”Yes, Mr. Naoki is a very kind person, and his ranch is home to many different Pokemon. If you were to spend the winter there, you wouldn’t feel lonely.”

”Oh woo...” Although Tropius still felt a bit downcast, it nodded.

This indicated its willingness to go with Naoki to the ranch for the winter.

Because it had no other choice, previously, due to an injured wing, it had lost its ability to fly, and could only watch as other Tropius flew south, leaving it alone here.

Seeing Tropius agree, Naoki said with a smile: ”Why don’t we go back now? The Pokemon at the ranch are all eagerly anticipating your arrival!”

These weren’t empty words from Naoki to deceive Tropius; before he rode on Cyclizar to come here, Alcremie, Gholdengo, and Ogerpon stopped him to ask what he was up to.

Naoki introduced them to Tropius.

Upon hearing that this type of Pokemon has sweet fruits hanging from its neck, all the Pokemon showed expressions of anticipation, obediently waiting at home for Tropius’ arrival.

Upon hearing excited Pokemon awaited its arrival, Tropius felt slightly touched, its mood not as gloomy as initially.

Just then, Tropius let out a long growl towards the sky, then flapped its giant wings, flying to Naoki’s side.

Seeing Tropius’ actions, Naoki was slightly surprised and incredulously asked: ”You want me to ride on your back to go back?”
