The Interstellar Queen of Scavengers

Chapter 1397: Chapter 1397: The Sticky Technique is Awesome

The atmosphere in the stands grew heavy, but only a small number of people were still relaxed—and of course, those were the students from other schools.

For example, Sheng Qingyan and Yue Qiguang.

Sheng Qingyan was cracking melon seeds while nodding off; every time his eyes closed, before Yue Qiguang’s hand even touched the snacks, Sheng Qingyan would smack it away!

The corner of Lou’s eye caught this scene, killing his idea of stealing snacks from Sheng Qingyan. Lou just opened his mouth and asked directly, ”Spicy Eye, gimme some beef jerky and pumpkin seeds! Not sunflower seeds, okay? Pumpkin seeds are way tastier to chew.”

While talking, Lou didn’t dare move his eyes off the stage. He was afraid that if he looked away for even a moment and missed a key move, the match would suddenly be over.

Nervous.

Lou was so nervous that his palms were sweating.

Then.

Sheng Qingyan said, ”Beef jerky and pumpkin seeds together, that’s 5000 credit points~”

Lou: ”...”

Lou turned his head and glared at him. ”You’re even more black-hearted than that profiteer No. 4444!”

”Take it or leave it~” Sheng Qingyan wasn’t interested in doing business. He wasn’t short of money. What he lacked was food.

Lou pursed his lips. ”Put it on my tab!”

Sheng Qingyan put the snacks away. ”Eat or don’t. Whatever.”

Lou was speechless. ”Just give me a little.”

Only then did Sheng Qingyan tear open the bag.

Lou still didn’t dare shift his gaze away from the ring, so he couldn’t watch Sheng Qingyan, but he was worried about getting shorted, so he said, ”Don’t you dare give me less. This mouth of mine can taste the exact weight! Accurate to the milligram!”

Sheng Qingyan slanted him a look. ”You insulting my character now? I’m not selling anymore~”

Lou said, ”No no no...”

”Hey!”

”Stop interrupting me, I’m trying to watch the match!”

”They’re both so strong!”

”I’m so nervous! Ji You must win! She has to win!” Lou rubbed his hands hard, staring at the mechas constantly moving on the field, even more nervous than when he was competing himself.

Yue Qiguang took a piece of beef jerky, popped it in his mouth and chewed. ”What are you nervous about? It’s not even time for them to throw down yet.”

”How is that possible?” Lou didn’t quite believe it. ”I feel like they could start any second, maybe the very next second. Hey!”

”Wait!” Lou frowned. ”Where’d you get that beef jerky?”

Yue Qiguang lied with perfect confidence. ”Bought it.”

Lou was furious. ”You can’t steal from Sheng Qingyan, so you steal from me! You! You!!!”

Yue Qiguang curled his lip. ”Daddy just ate a little of your beef jerky and you’re fussing more than that idiot 4444!”

Lou snapped, ”If you’re not stingy, then buy your own!”

Yue Qiguang obviously planned to play dumb. He just stared at the field and changed the subject. ”Both sides have used up 10% of their energy. The antique mech only has enough energy left for nine shells. In about one minute, they should start making moves.”

”Huh?” Lou jolted.

Yue Qiguang narrowed his eyes. ”When top experts fight, you think they’re just running around bored, but they’re actually probing a lot of info from each other’s movement patterns—like the opponent’s explosive power, max speed, energy consumption rate, possible attack postures...”

Lou of course knew all this, which was exactly why he was even more nervous. Even though he was also an S-Class Physique, his control over battle still wasn’t on Yue Qiguang’s level. For example, right now Yue Qiguang dared to say the two would make a move within a minute, but Lou didn’t dare reach that conclusion.

Next to them, Sheng Qingyan suddenly said, ”They’ve already probed each other enough to figure out the basics~ I’m guessing what they’re measuring now is who strikes first~”

Sheng Qingyan’s slouching posture quietly straightened up as well.

The spectators below couldn’t accurately judge Ji You and Shen Sheng’s movements, but as time passed and the two still didn’t make a move, everyone’s taut nerves gradually loosened a bit.

Just when everyone thought Ji You and Shen Sheng were competing to see who could run faster, suddenly—there was a loud boom, and a violent explosion shook their ears!

”Huh?”

”Who fired?”

”Who?!!”

While the aftershock of the blast was still rolling across the ring, Ji You stowed the cannon and started repositioning again.

Above the smoke and fire, Shengsheng leapt out from one side, looking completely unscathed.

The students of the First Army immediately relaxed.

”Ji You fired!”

”She missed!”

”Hahahaha...”

”Her energy consumption is higher than Shengsheng’s now!”

”We’ve got this!”

Around the ring, several dozen partitions made of special Material had been set up, so no matter how intense the fight on stage got, it couldn’t harm the audience below.

And the partitions were completely transparent—so transparent they were practically invisible, not affecting the viewing experience at all.

The real fight had already begun, and everyone sat up straight!

The dark cannon barrel was still radiating residual heat as Ji You narrowed her eyes, staring at Shen Sheng opposite her.

Shen Sheng’s movements didn’t falter in the slightest.

Ji You narrowed her eyes. That earlier shot had just been a feint; she knew Shen Sheng could easily dodge it.

From this point on, Ji You’s energy consumption was already higher than her opponent’s, putting her at a disadvantage.

But!

So what?

Once the fight started, Ji You was never the stingy type. The next second, without another word, and catching everyone off guard, she fired another shell at Shen Sheng!

This shot was still a test!

Inside the cockpit, Shen Sheng was slightly stunned. She controlled her mecha to stand still until the shell came straight at her!

Whoosh—

Shen Sheng moved!

She swung her Longsword, and actually deflected that fiercely incoming shell.

That’s right.

Deflected it!

Boom—

The shell landed a thousand meters away and exploded. Flames roared upward, and the rolling heatwave was so intense that even through multiple layers of partitions, the audience could still feel that surging heat.

Then.

Shen Sheng slid her mecha lightly, leaping out of the blast radius with an almost unbelievable lightness and agility. In the blink of an eye, she had rushed around behind Ji You!

The people below collectively froze, hearts jumping into their throats!

The next second.

Using the momentum, Ji You suddenly climbed onto the back of Shen Sheng’s mecha, spread her arms wide, and hugged Shen Sheng’s mecha all at once!

The atmosphere in the stands instantly solidified!

Dead silence!

The next second, all the First Army students slapped their thighs hard!

”Crap!”

”It showed up!”

”The sticky technique!”

”What do we do?”

”This move of the Rag Queen has claimed countless victims and has yet to meet a true counter!”

”Oh nooo! My Shen Sheng, how could you be so careless and let this sticky cling onto you?”

”Aiya!”

Below the stage, waves of thigh-smacking and regretful groans!

On stage, being hugged tightly by Ji You, Shen Sheng’s eyes suddenly lit up. She didn’t look the slightest bit annoyed; instead she laughed. ”Ji You, I’ve been waiting for you. Ordinary sticky types can’t cling to me. Hold on tight, okay? Don’t you dare let me down later.”

The next second, Shen Sheng picked up speed.

Hearing Shen Sheng’s words, the First Army students’ anxiety vanished in an instant.

That’s more like it!

How could Shen Sheng be stuck by a sticky?

Immediately after.

At high speed, Shen Sheng, who was tightly entangled, twisted her body. She slipped away like a loach, actually shaking off Ji You’s grip, then climbed onto Ji You’s back instead and hugged Ji You in one go!

”Now I’m the sticky one!” Shen Sheng said happily.

”Mm.” Ji You smiled and said quietly, ”Hold tight.”
