The Interstellar Queen of Scavengers

Chapter 1364: Chapter 1364: To Detonate or Not?

Ji You lifts her foot to leave, but the boy holding the bomb doesn’t breathe a sigh of relief. On the contrary, his heart is in his throat. The enemy has already infiltrated, but it seems that there’s no detection on their side. Just the thought of this situation is enough to make one’s skin crawl.

This girl, did she come in alone, or are there several people, or is there a whole bunch of people who have already infiltrated? What is her purpose?

Array Flag?

Or a sneak attack on the Squad Leader and others?

The boy stares intently at Ji You’s halting figure, contemplating whether to disregard orders and directly squeeze the bomb to detonate it.

This boy, his strength is on the lower tier in the entire competition field. Because he’s proficient in hot weapon research, Charles picked him out from the crowd. Subsequently, he devoted all his energy to developing highly destructive hot weapons. Due to limited materials and a shabby experimental environment, after trial and error a few times, the boy finally developed them, but could only produce 2. They can only be used unexpectedly to achieve maximum lethality.

Therefore, Charles plans to keep them as his trump card.

Charles dares to leave with confidence because of these two trump cards. When sneaking into Camp 5, Charles considered whether to take one with him.

After much deliberation, Charles decided not to take any of them.

Firstly, Charles is very confident in his ability. He believes that he brought so many elite soldiers, and it’s an operation after thorough reconnaissance, thus it’s foolproof.

Secondly, the enemy knows that he has moved almost half of the camp’s forces, so they will definitely find an opportunity to sneak into his Commander Base. Exactly, the bomb left behind can be a gift for the enemy.

Thirdly, the second bomb is not for the enemy, but for Louise Carter’s group. When Louise Carter gathered several teams to rebel, for Charles, they were already the enemy, not allies anymore. Thus, Charles has to guard against them.

...

For various reasons, the boy who could make bombs was kept by Charles in a small room at the Commander Base, without being allowed to contact others.

This boy kept researching. His temperament is not lively, and he hasn’t inquired too much about external situations. He vaguely knows that Charles has left with a large team, and the two bombs in his hands will be used as the hidden treasures, meant for perishing together with the enemy.

Exactly.

Before leaving, Commander Charles whispered a few words to the boy. At that time, only the two of them were present. Charles said, ”If an unforeseen situation arises, and it’s certain that it cannot be resolved, I authorize you to ignite the bomb.”

The boy, taken aback, said: ”Commander, I don’t understand. Could you explain it more plainly?”

As a tech nerd, he does indeed not have so many twists and turns.

Charles initially thought he was deliberately looking for trouble, but then realized it might not be the case. So he seriously asked, ”You don’t understand what an unforeseen and unresolvable situation means?”

The boy nodded: ”Correct.”

Charles pondered for a moment and said: ”Our Array Flag is seized, we are doomed to lose, the camp is untenable... Understand such a situation now?”

The boy instantly understood.

Charles patted his shoulder, saying with a heavy tone: ”There is risk in everything. No one can guarantee the outcome will be as desired. So we might as well die with the enemy than concede, understand?”

The boy solemnly replied: ”Commander, rest assured, I will definitely achieve it.”

This competition is both a solo match and a team match. If the team loses, it’s nearly impossible for individuals to advance. Rather than sitting there waiting to concede, it’s better to bring the enemy down together.

The boy clenched his fist.

Charles instantly felt relieved.

...

The boy continues to stare at Ji You’s figure, unsure and hesitant. Suddenly, Ji You turns around, and unexpectedly smiles at him: ”Are you planning to detonate the bomb?”

The boy is shocked, not knowing when she came close so stealthily, and instantly sweats profusely from his forehead!

—This person is very strong!

Ji You stands in front of the boy, glancing at the bomb in his palm, seemingly unconcerned. Instead, she raises her hand, points outside the wall, and says: ”My army is just 2000 meters away, 400 people in total. Those are your base’s 200. So guess, if you detonate the bomb now, killing me but compensating with your 200 people, is it worth it?”

The boy: ”...”

The boy’s face darkens.

Ji You chuckles: ”Even children don’t want to do such a losing deal. If you want to, feel free.”

The boy angrily says: ”You’re certainly the leader, killing you is still a gain. When Commander Charles returns, we’ve still won.”

”Oh—” Ji You drags the tone, saying indifferently: ”Do you think Charles will seize our Array Flag first, or is it that you kill me while blasting your base and everyone in it, allowing my troops to come in and easily capture the flag, which side is faster?”

The boy is suddenly conflicted.

Indeed.

Detonating a bomb on one’s own turf is already a desperate, mutually destructive bad move, a decision made in desperation.

But!

The boy continues to grip the bomb tightly, not daring to be lax. The enemy is so cunning, a few words have messed up his plan, he dares not relax and is certain this girl’s aim is to seize his bomb. He must hold onto it and not let her succeed.

The boy maintains his steely expression, pondering how to defuse the crisis. Earlier, Heidi came and took one of the bombs; she should not have gone too far. If he makes some noise, would Heidi notice?

If Heidi knows there is a crisis on his side, she will certainly deploy more personnel over.

The boy suddenly stamps his foot on the ground.

But, as soon as he had stamped his foot, he suddenly felt the girl in front staring at him in a strange way. For a moment, the boy felt awkward.

Ji You asks: ”Why did you stamp your foot? Is it itchy?”

The boy: ”...”

The boy angrily says: ”What does it matter to you?”

Ji You says with a smile: ”Although your foot-stamping looks a bit awkward, your distressed appearance is very genuine and unpretentious, a bit cute actually.”

The boy: ”...”

What kind of ridiculous adjective is this?

The next second, the boy suddenly hears Ji You say: ”The person you are waiting for will not come.”

The boy is shocked: ”You?”

At the same time, in his heart, alarms ring loudly as he realizes that Heidi might have already been killed by her, or...

”Why so nervous?” Ji You grins, her tone friendly, saying: ”Don’t worry, I didn’t kill her, I haven’t even touched her. I say she won’t come because she went to find your Squad Leader, so she won’t appear here for a while.”

Hearing this, the boy certainly hasn’t totally let down his guard. Indeed, he feels it’s truly inappropriate to be rattled by just a few casual words from an enemy.

Sure enough, don’t think about anything else. Right now, detonating the bomb is the most important thing.

As he says this.

The boy’s hand holding the bomb can’t help but shake.
