The Interstellar Queen of Scavengers

Chapter 1361: Chapter 1361: Three Arrows!

When the squad leader of the 6th battalion was almost worried sick, he suddenly heard a faint whoosh by his ear, startling him. He quickly reacted and narrowly avoided the arrow.

”Who?”

With one word, the squad leader realized he was being foolish. Who else could it be? Just those bastards from the enemy camp!

”Squad leader, are you alright?”

”Squad leader, don’t stand in the wind, it’s dangerous.”

”Squad leader, come over here.”

Many people in the team hurriedly pulled the startled squad leader aside. Someone grumbled furiously, ”The shooting skills of these people are varied. Each one seems unreliable, but sometimes a true archery expert will sneak an arrow in. Everyone must be careful.”

The Deputy Commander’s case was right in front of their eyes. Still warm, his body lay at their feet, shielded by a protective barrier.

The enemy over there seems to be playing around, not taking the arrows seriously at all. If wasted, so be it. And among countless amateurish arrows, occasionally one or two deadly arrows would appear, leaving one defenseless—head spinning.

”Insidious!”

”Cunning!”

”Despicable!”

The squad leader listened to the resentful voices of his subordinates. He raised his hand, rubbed his empty stomach, and with a stern face said, ”Everyone stationed on the city walls, pay attention to hiding and be careful not to get hit. We need to hold on for two more hours. In two hours, it will be daylight.”

Before the Deputy Commander died, he said he was going to notify Louise Carter. Once Louise Carter received the message, he would certainly bring reinforcements.

However, there’s still no sign of him yet.

Something jolted in his heart; the squad leader had a bad premonition: ”Could it have gone cold?”

He murmured to himself, and unexpectedly, suddenly heard a crisp, sweet female voice beside his ear, ”You’re not wrong, he’s already done for.”

The squad leader was greatly startled, looked around, and did not find anyone.

He frowned tightly and scanned every inch around, even taking a look at all his subordinates to ensure none were traitors, and only then heaved a sigh of relief.

But!

Straight after, his heart was in his throat: [How did this person manage to speak beside my ear? Could it be—]

...

Ji You raised her hand and rubbed her brow. The long-lasting consumption of spiritual power was proving too much. After downing a gulp of hot water, the aching in her head slightly eased.

Then.

Ji You fitted her bow and arrow again, aiming at the enemy camp.

Guan Ning saw her doing this and was alarmed at once: [Can she really still fire?]

Clearly, she couldn’t hold the bow properly, looking on the verge of collapse, yet she could still shoot another arrow?

At this moment——

Whoosh——

The arrow soared from Ji You’s hand!

It whizzed along, scraping the air resistance, and hit directly on the opposite city wall.

Guan Ning was agape: ”...!!!”

Thud~

The bow slipped unintentionally from Ji You’s hand, and she too staggered a bit. Guan Ning frowned, instinctively took a step forward to support her, ”What’s wrong with you?”

Leaning in Guan Ning’s arms, Ji You suddenly grinned, ”Are you worried about me?”

Guan Ning’s face turned dark, ”No.”

With that said, she pushed Ji You away as if discarding a hot potato.

Ji You chuckled, saying, ”Don’t be mad, in our line of work, how could we not have some acting skills.” Acting skills, after all, are one of the essential skills for surviving in the Jianghu.

Guan Ning ignored Ji You and continued to train her shooting skills.

Ji You wasn’t bothered either. Watching those continuously shooting at the enemy camp, regardless of their skill level, each had an earnest look, and at times, besides the whizzing arrows, there were just more arrows flying.

This was because intermittent deadly arrows were hidden within, making them hard to defend against. The people at Charles Commander Base dared not relax at all, they were all on high alert, closely watching the enemy camp across that was relishing in their archery.

”Where did they get so many arrows?”

”Carrying on like this, no number of arrows can keep up with the waste.”

”Ahem... More than half of them are ours, look—” Suddenly lifting his hand, the speaker pulled out an arrow embedded in the wall and showed it to everyone. The large ’6th Battalion’ characters were clearly visible, glaringly so.

”No wonder they don’t cherish them. They’re our arrows.”

As soon as this was said, the atmosphere in the area became tense. Just then, arrows from all directions once more aimed directly at the tower, still, none had precise aim, and the enemy showed no intention of stopping.

These enemies not only recklessly launched arrows, but also loved to cause trouble by either singing loud songs, speaking eloquently, or boasting aimlessly.... In brief, nothing proper, leaving the entire battlefield in chaos, making it impossible for anyone to concentrate.

The squad leader tightened his face, always on guard for those surprise arrows. He looked grim; unless absolutely necessary, he really didn’t want to use that last resort.

The squad leader clenched his fist, saying, ”Don’t focus all your attention on those laughing monkeys across. Keep an eye on your subordinates’ positions, watch the checkpoints you’re guarding!!”

Meanwhile——

Hinting at Gu Peiyuan, Guan Ning, and others to continue practicing archery upfront, season You then quietly called over He Nu.

”The opposite side is quite composed.”

”For us to act like this, and for them to keep their cool, they must be holding onto something that gives them the confidence to stay holed up.” In these few brief minutes, numerous arrows had been fired at the enemy camp, but the enemy remained unperturbed, seemingly not completely intimidated, not deploying a single soldier.

So, there must be something in their hands giving them the confidence not to engage.

He Nu asked, ”What do you need from me?”

Ji You said, ”Have Gu Peiyuan and the others draw the enemy’s attention. You quietly sneak over; I’ll cover for you. Your task is to find the location of the enemy’s array flag, then see if there’s anywhere they defend most tightly. You just sneak in from the southeast direction of the city wall, where the defenses are weakest.”

”Yes.” He Nu said, clenching his fist. ”I will accomplish it.”

”I trust you,” Ji You said, ”Go now.”

He Nu immediately got up.

Since they were already surrounded by Ji You, the defense of Charles Commander Base was extremely strict, especially at various critical points, making it more difficult to sneak in.

He Nu going over at this time was undoubtedly very dangerous. But He Nu didn’t object or complain, instantly following orders.

As soon as he left, Ji You once more picked up her bow, aiming at a direction——

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

Three arrows shot simultaneously!

Each one aimed directly at the enemy’s watchtower center. That was where the 6th battalion was discussing matters, the squad leader, the Deputy Commander’s body, and several other key members of the 6th battalion were all gathered.

As the three arrows attacked, one embedded into the table on the left side of the squad leader, another hit the back of his chair, while a third was aimed right at his brow...

The squad leader narrowly dodged.

These three arrows once again plunged the atmosphere of the 6th battalion into deathly silence.
