The Interstellar Queen of Scavengers

Chapter 1385: Chapter 1385: Hot Commodity

Lou raised an eyebrow and said, ”Who are you calling annoying?”

”Ahem...” Ji You cleared her throat and said, ”No matter who annoys me, my Little Golden Dragon will never be one of them. It’s my sweetheart, and my favorite thing is the Little Golden Dragon.”

Lou: ”...”

Lou looked at the pair of majestic and domineering golden vertical pupils on the communication screen. Then, his gaze slightly shifted from the Little Golden Dragon to Teacher Luo, and he said, ”Teacher Luo, yes, yes... After my observation, Ji You seems fine, though maybe there’s still a small issue with her head.”

On the communication screen, Dr. Luo gave a few instructions, and Lou nodded repeatedly:

”Uh-huh.”

”Got it.”

”No problem. I’ve already come out with Ji You to pick up Yue Qiguang.”

Then.

Lou hung up the call, turned his head, glanced at Ji You sideways, and couldn’t help but mock, ”You’re really a sneak.”

Ji You grinned and said, ”What sneak? I was speaking from my heart.”

Lou pouted and said, ”If you really cared that much, wouldn’t you have rushed to find it as soon as the match ended? Just now, it didn’t even glance at you, which shows it’s mad at you.”

Ji You put on a serious face and said, ”Don’t talk nonsense. My Little Golden Dragon has the best temper; it would never get mad at me.”

As they talked, they walked towards the match exit. Ji You sat in her wheelchair, her mind already connected to the Light Computer. Upon entering the Star Network, she immediately headed to the official store of the Alliance Research Institute, and as soon as she entered, she saw rows of Little Golden Dragons lying on the store’s display racks.

Ji You: ”...”

This scene was a bit overwhelming.

One for 6 million, two for 6 million, three for 6 million, four...

Ji You placed a hand over her heart, then asked the salesperson, ”Can I see the details of this mecha?”

The salesperson, an intelligent robot, shook its head and replied, ”Sorry, to protect the privacy of the mechas, each one has slightly different traits. No detailed information unless purchased.”

The salesperson’s attitude was not warm at all.

Ji You thought for a moment, understanding that such an attitude was typical for official stores, especially in a seller’s market.

After all, the products never stayed in stock long, so the salespeople naturally weren’t enthusiastic.

As for the mecha privacy protection, Ji You figured it was just an excuse. Understanding this, she gritted her teeth and told the salesperson, ”Then could you please get me one? I’d like to make a purchase.”

The robotic salesperson said, ”Sorry, the mechas are currently not for sale.”

Ji You was taken aback, ”Huh?”

”Why not?” Ji You was baffled, ”Why aren’t they for sale?”

The robotic salesperson smiled and said, ”Because they’re already sold out.”

Ji You: ”...”

Ji You pointed at the rows of lazily lying ’Little Golden Dragons’ on the shelves and asked, ”Aren’t there plenty here?”

The robotic salesperson said, ”These are mechas that have already been reserved.”

Hearing this, Ji You asked, ”If I want to purchase one, is it possible? If so, when might the delivery be?”

The robotic salesperson replied, ”You can order, but the current orders are queued up until the year after next. If you’re willing to wait patiently, we can record your information.”

Ji You’s mouth twitched, ”The year after next?”

The robotic salesperson said, ”Yes. The mechas are highly in demand, but due to material limitations and manufacturing technology barriers, mass production isn’t feasible, so orders can only be fulfilled by the year after next.”

Hearing this, Ji You felt a bit exasperated, ”Okay, thank you for your service.”

As Ji You was about to log off, the robotic salesperson suddenly became enthusiastic and said, ”Though our store’s bionic mecha orders are booked until the year after next, considering the public demand, the store has initiated an online auction every day. Every morning at 10:00 am, we offer one mecha for auction, starting at just 1 credit point, and it goes to the highest bidder. If you’re interested, you can join the auction after 10:00 am.”

Ji You knew this was a ploy and quickly said, ”Thank you, not at the moment.”

The robotic salesperson said, ”Maybe you could win the auction with just 1 credit point.”

credit point?

A ploy!

This ploy was all too familiar to her.

Ji You waved it off and quickly said, ”Thanks, I have things to do, so I’ll leave for now.”

She logged off the Star Network and looked up to see Lou’s face. Lou smiled and asked, ”Got rejected for the purchase, didn’t you?”

Ji You asked, ”How did you know?”

Lou replied, ”I just tried to buy one too but couldn’t. However,” Lou’s eyes sparkled with excitement, ”the store offers a 1 credit point buy, maybe I can get one for just 1 credit point.”

Ji You gave him a side-eye, ”Stop dreaming. There’s no way you’ll get one for 1 credit point.”

Lou frowned, unwilling to give up, ”What if I actually succeed? How would I know if I don’t try?”

This guy, always talking about trying. Ji You said, ”I suggest you just keep dreaming; it’s faster.”

As they bantered, they arrived at the match exit, where a lot of students were waiting, most discussing bionic mechas. While everyone was chatting, a few more students came over from elsewhere, and one of them was even holding a bionic mecha in their arms.

The design of the mecha was still the same as Little Golden Dragon, with identical eyes, nose, mouth, and even the two pink fleshy horns on its head.

Lou muttered, ”Another one? Didn’t they say they were out of stock?”

Ji You scoffed, ”Never trust a merchant’s words; they’re all just lies.”

Lou gave her a sideways glance, ”You seem pretty experienced?”

Ji You ignored him and said, ”These replicas are impressive, though I wonder if their combat capabilities have improved compared to other mecha types.”

”I don’t know, but at this price, there must be other advantages,” Lou said. He thought for a moment and added, ”Or we could contact a successful buyer from our school to find out more.”

Ji You didn’t object to this, preferring to reach out to a girl named ’Nana.’ She was more interested in understanding why the mecha this girl owned seemed to be afraid of her.

Afraid enough to avoid her.

This is a mecha we’re talking about.

The fact that a mecha could have such strong emotional responses made Ji You very curious.

Just then, the closed doors at the match exit rumbled and slowly opened from inside.

Someone was coming out.

All the students waiting there paused, then craned their necks to see who was at the exit. At that moment, everyone hoped that none of their school’s students would be the ones eliminated.

Then.

Ji You and Lou saw a red-haired Yue Qiguang, arms crossed and looking all smug, striding out confidently.
