Sister Nan's Combat Strength is Unknown, But It's Probably Only a Tiny Bit Stronger

70: Two of you might not be my match.Si Nan gave them a scolding and then ignored them; if they couldn’t keep up with her pace, they would simply be abandoned. They had begged for the opportunity themselves, and she had given it.

She hadn’t checked on the status of the other Property Owners for the past two days, so she went to browse. Seeing the situation, she frowned deeply. Of the tens of thousands of residents in the entire community, excluding the detached Villas, there were dozens of apartment buildings, yet less than a third of the people had survived.

Zombies were scattered throughout many people’s homes, hallways, and stairwells. Those whose families had been wiped out remained in their own homes, or were currently attacking their neighbors.

Including the buildings that had been wiped out before, there were many zombies everywhere, fighting over corpses that had been frozen into ice sculptures.

Even after living through two lifetimes, such scenes still affected her appetite and made her feel very uncomfortable. This was only the beginning; so many people had died just as the community fell.

At least half of the Property Owners had turned into zombies, and the other half had been eaten clean by the starving zombies. More people would die next, and the remaining survivors would still face death without food.

Desperate weeping never ceased, though the faint sound of the Child’s crying had become less frequent.

Just as she thought of the Child, a stranger requested to add her on wechat. She didn’t want to open it, but then she paused; the profile picture looked somewhat familiar.

After she opened it, she remembered: ”The young couple living next door to Cui Qingqing?”

Everyone who came to her either coveted her house or her supplies. What was this person after? Surely not her beauty?

She didn’t accept the friend request but replied via the man’s application message, ”What do you want from me?”

”Everything I have in exchange for some nutritious food for my heavily pregnant wife.” Simple and clear.

It seemed there was room for negotiation.

Only then did Si Nan accept his friend request. The only thing that interested her was that this man was a Boxing Champion—a ready-made helper.

She had found this out later; having a request made him easy to manipulate.

”Tell me, what do you have that might interest me? With the zombies surrounding us, I don’t have anything for you to do right now.”

Si Nan took a sip of hot milk and posed the question unhurriedly.

This one sentence stumped Song Yuan. Looking at Si Nan’s message, he replied, ”You tell me. Gold, silver, jewelry, or the house?”

”Hahaha, what would I want your house for? Right now, I can just find any place where the occupants were wiped out and claim it as mine. And the gold, silver, and jewelry you mentioned aren’t as practical as a pack of Instant Noodles. However, if it’s Diamonds, I might be somewhat interested.”

Song Yuan closed his eyes. ”I don’t have Diamonds, and I can’t afford them. I’m just a Boxing Champion, and my salary wasn’t as high as you’d imagine. After buying this Villa, I didn’t have much left.

”Consider it a plea from me, Song Yuan. As long as you can guarantee a steady supply of food for my wife so she and the baby in her belly have a chance to survive, my life is yours!”

The implication was that he would do anything she asked.

Si Nan raised an eyebrow playfully. ”So, you’re begging me.”

”Hubby, without you, what’s the point of the Child and me surviving?” On the monitor, Si Nan watched Mei Xue crying nearby.

Song Yuan held his wife’s hand and stroked the Child in her belly, saying, ”Wife, you’re wrong. Without me, you should live even better. Your responsibility would be even greater—to take care of yourself and our Child.

”Trust me, my judgment won’t be wrong. Si Nan is someone worth entrusting ourselves to.”

”Pfft, entrusting? I’m not going to marry your wife—and a ’buy one, get one free’ deal at that. I can’t afford to raise them.” Si Nan spat out a mouthful of milk; she was actually amused by Song Yuan’s words and rolled her eyes at the camera.

But there was one thing she hadn’t done yet—in her previous life, on the road back to the Villa while fleeing, she had seen shiny, gem-like things growing inside the heads of the zombies they killed.

She guessed that years later, after the zombie apocalypse ended, these would definitely be valuable. Money in this life would likely become worthless; having been reborn, how could she not seize these resources?

Therefore, she needed a sidekick who was skilled, ruthless, efficient, didn’t talk back, and was loyal. Someone like Song Yuan was the best candidate, but also the most dangerous. He would be very dangerous if he turned on her, so he needed to be observed.

However, she was confident. Having been trained to the brink of death by her father since childhood, taking down a man like Song Yuan, who had only picked up combat halfway through his life, would be no problem.

So she neither refused nor agreed. ”First of all, you’re a man of responsibility and spirit. Since you’re willing to give up your life for your wife, let me ask you: Have you ever thought about killing me to seize my house and covet my supplies?”

”Yes!” Song Yuan answered honestly and decisively without any hesitation. ”When the Property Owner Group was buzzing with rumors of people seeing you stock up on supplies, I did think about it. But when I saw you nimbly leap over the community gate and kill those who were targeting you, I completely gave up on the idea.

”Because I am no match for you.

”I was very curious and shocked at the time. Later, I thought about why a girl like you would have such great martial arts skills. If I’m not mistaken, your Retired Special Forces Father taught you.

”How could I possibly be a match for someone trained through such rigorous discipline? That’s why I want to submit. From everything I’ve seen, you would be a good leader.”

Si Nan curled her lips into a smile. ”Quite straightforward and clever. To be honest, in a one-on-one fight, even two of you might not be my match.”

Song Yuan, whose pride as a man was now in tatters: ”...”

This woman was too arrogant. He was someone who had practiced combat for ten years and had won two consecutive championships. If it weren’t for the virus, he would have soon been a three-time champion.

Yet to this young woman, he was nothing. He was certain he was a man and an expert, not some paper-mache dummy.

The more Song Yuan thought about it, the angrier he got. He helplessly massaged his forehead. ”You’re insulting me.”

Mei Xue, on the other hand, didn’t mind. ”I think she’s quite honest. She’s a real person who doesn’t hide things. Hubby, your judgment is good. In this day and age where people kill and eat each other, Si Nan is already a rare good person.”

”Pfft, what makes you two think I’m a good person?”

Si Nan spat out a second mouthful of milk. She even moved the glass further away. ”Alright, you two don’t need to flatter me. I don’t want your life, but I want your loyalty and for you to listen to me for the rest of your life.”

”Deal!” Song Yuan agreed immediately.

Si Nan was surprised. ”Aren’t you going to state your conditions first?”

At least Bai Zichuan had specified what he wanted. He had agreed without saying anything, which surprised her. She didn’t dare use someone who had no demands.

On the other end, Song Yuan gave her a heartfelt answer. ”Since I took the initiative to find you, I’ve already thought it through. I trust your character. For me to work for you with my labor and loyalty—even at the cost of my life—in exchange for a long-term meal ticket for my wife and Child, you are already being merciful.

”If I were to make any more demands, I would truly be ungrateful.

”Of course, no one wants to die, and I’m the same—I want to live, and live until the very end. Because I want to see my Child born and accompany them as they slowly grow up in this terrifying world. It’s just—”
