Sister Nan's Combat Strength is Unknown, But It's Probably Only a Tiny Bit Stronger

58: What does it matter to me if you hold onto it for two years?”Aiya, Sister Nan, that kick of yours warmed me right up. How about another one?” Ma Bufan said with a cheeky grin, steadying himself before scurrying back immediately.

Si Nan gave him a massive eye-roll. ”Get back and practice your skills.”

”Yes, ma’am!” The two of them left happily, wrapped in their thin quilts like a pair of wriggling caterpillars. To Si Nan, they looked quite adorable. ”If I roasted them, they’d probably be dripping with oil~”

”Aiya, Sister Nan wasn’t talking about us just now, was she? Could it be—could it be they want to devour us completely?” Ma Bufan instantly felt he’d hit upon the truth. His next sentence made Si Nan want to rush over and beat them up.

Ma Bufan said, ”Actually, I’d really love for Sister Nan to devour me. That way, I’d be her man. Ouch, Xiao Ning, why’d you kick me?”

”Give it a rest. I saw it clearly; Sister Nan looks at you like you’re a little brat, but the way she looks at me is different.”

”What’s different about it?”

”It feels a bit like love.”

”Get out of here, you’re just making stuff up.”

”Hahaha, just kidding—”

Si Nan really felt she had been too indulgent with these two rascals; they even dared to tease her now.

”Are you Si Nan? Can you sell me some instant noodles? I’ll pay whatever price you want with anything I have—cash, gold, diamonds, luxury watches, designer bags, I have it all.”

Suddenly, the male Property Owner from next door in Unit 106 shouted down to her from upstairs. The man wore an expensive plush pajama set; he was tall and lean with a face full of stubble.

Si Nan only gave him a single glance before politely declining. ”Sorry, not for sale. The things you mentioned are worthless in this Apocalypse.”

Jewelry? Gold? She had plenty in her space. That was an entire floor of jewelry and accessories; she hadn’t even finished counting how many shops there were.

Si Nan walked straight into her courtyard gate.

The man didn’t want to give up; this was his only chance. ”Then what do you want? Do you want a luxury off-road vehicle worth five million?”

”An off-road vehicle?” Si Nan curled her lips, turning around to look up at the man.

Seeing a glimmer of hope, the man immediately pointed to his yard and said, ”It’s right here in my yard. Wait a moment, I’ll drive it out for you to see.”

Si Nan immediately took out a military shovel and held it in her hand, just in case. In times like these, trust had long since gone to the dogs; one couldn’t trust anyone.

Soon, the neighbor’s gate opened, and a strikingly beautiful black off-road Jeep drove out. Si Nan took a special look at the brand—oh my god, it was a genuine luxury brand, and brand new at that.

Si Nan walked around the car and tapped it with her hand, confirming it was the real deal.

At that moment, the man opened the door and stepped out. He knew the rules and didn’t get too close to Si Nan, maintaining a distance of two meters. He tossed the car keys to her.

”I bought it right before that damned virus broke out. I only drove it for a day. Now it’s yours. In exchange, I want twenty boxes of instant noodles, forty pounds of meat, sixty pounds of rice, and a hundred bottles of mineral water.”

Si Nan lost interest instantly and threw the keys back to the man. ”Sorry, I don’t run a supermarket.”

This man was actually trying to fleece her. It was a good car, but she didn’t lack for them. She even had sports cars in her space, many of them brand new, all collected from Century Department Store. She just didn’t have an off-road vehicle like this one.

Seeing her walk away without looking back, the man hurried forward to stop her. ”Fifty percent off! I only want half of what I just asked for.”

Si Nan didn’t humiliate him and countered directly: ”No. Ten boxes of instant noodles, thirty pounds of rice, and two cases of mineral water. I’m keeping the meat for myself, but I can give you a few fish.”

The man frowned and fell silent. After a moment, he said, ”Add a bit more, that’s too little. I saved up my bonuses for two whole years to buy this beloved car. If it weren’t for—”

His words were full of reluctance, and his tone sounded very earnest.

But, what does you saving up for two years have to do with me?

Si Nan wasn’t falling for it. She really wanted to give the man a massive eye-roll. Seeing that he seemed like a civilized person with refined manners, she suggested, ”Or do you have any stockpiled gasoline or diesel at home? As you can see, a car is useless to me without fuel.”

The man shook his head. ”No. All I have left is diamonds, gold, and the like, but you don’t want those.”

Si Nan: ”...”

This man was certainly wealthy, but unfortunately, no matter how rich he was, he couldn’t even afford instant noodles now and had to trade his beloved car for them.

Suddenly, as if remembering something, the man said with a slightly excited expression, ”Do you want weapons? I like collecting ancient swords and ancient sabers. I have several at home; you can take your pick.

If you see any you like, you can take them, but each one must be exchanged for meat and other food. Also, I can sell you an important piece of information. Because of my love for cars, I know a very powerful person—*cough cough*, sorry, I haven’t smoked in ten days and it’s miserable. Can you give me a pack of cigarettes first?”

Si Nan’s mouth twitched, and she refused directly. ”It won’t hurt to wait a moment. Finish what you have to say first.”

Man: ”...”

This little girl is very cautious; indeed, young girls these days are all as sharp as tacks.

”*Cough cough*~” The man cleared his throat and continued, ”The powerful person I know can modify cars. He—”

Si Nan immediately interrupted, ”This car of yours wasn’t modified by him, was it?”

The man got a little angry. ”I just bought this one!”

If the world hadn’t changed and zombies weren’t everywhere, he wouldn’t even give a girl like her a second glance normally.

”Uh-huh, go on.” Si Nan gave a fake smile, crossing her arms as she watched the man, waiting for the rest.

”Sigh~” The man sighed and continued, ”He’s very skilled, a famous expert here in A City. Even if you give him a scrap car, in a few days he can modify it into an armored vehicle with explosive combat power.”

Si Nan: ”...Is he really that good?”

The man felt insulted, and his voice turned much colder. ”Of course he’s good. Do you know the biennial Free Night Grand Prix in this city? The cars driven by the three-time consecutive champion were all modified by him.

And that was just him modifying them casually, without even trying hard.

He’s still alive, just trapped like me and short on food. If you give me meat and the food I need, I’ll introduce him to you.”

Si Nan’s eyes narrowed suddenly. ”And I’ll have to provide him with a lot of food too, right?”

Si Nan knew there was a trap as soon as she heard it. This old man was quite wicked; despite his earnest face, he was full of schemes. So this was what he was waiting for.

Men were the most untrustworthy creatures. Wasn’t the lesson from Gao Ming enough?

Setting aside whether that person was truly as god-like as he claimed and could modify a war machine to fight zombies, just based on how this man opened his mouth to demand a fortune in food, the other guy wouldn’t be an easy customer either.

Wanting to trade a vague answer for a large amount of her food? She wasn’t that stupid.
