Sister Nan's Combat Strength is Unknown, But It's Probably Only a Tiny Bit Stronger

52: I want to go from being a dog to being the owner. At the very moment Si Nan ran past, the woman walking at the back suddenly pounced on the man beside her, biting him frantically.

Seeing that one of their companions had been infected and was turning into a Zombie, the others reacted quickly, raising their weapons to kill the woman.

Unfortunately, just as they killed the woman, the man who had been bitten came back to life, grabbed someone’s calf, and bit down.

”Ah—!” A blood-curdling scream tore through the night, completely waking those in deep sleep.

”Kill!” Yan Xueqing, who was on duty in the security room, arrived with his men. They had rushed over the moment the first person mutated. The three of them raised their Batons and swiftly dealt with the two.

Then they stopped everyone. ”Freeze! You stay here for half an hour until we’re sure you’re not infected before you can leave.”

Yan Xueqing pointed his Baton at an old man leading the group.

”What? Do I look infected to you? Are you stopping us because you have other motives?”

The old man was defiant, his small eyes squinting at Yan Xueqing. To him, no one looked like a good person right now; he felt everyone just wanted to steal the large bundle on his back.

”Hmph.” Yan Xueqing snorted coldly, pointing his Baton at the three corpses on the ground. ”When you came in, did any of them look infected to you?

Don’t be so arrogant. Everyone’s life is on the line now; we just want to survive as long as possible. If we hadn’t come quickly just now, you would have been bitten and turned into a Zombie too.”

The old man glanced at Yan Xueqing displeasedly and retorted, ”Protecting us is your duty!”

”Bullshit! It was before, but not anymore. Stop acting so high and mighty. Do you still think you’re the saviors of this place?

The world has changed. You’re just like us—equal people hiding here, living day by day.”

One of the younger security guards pointed his Baton at the old man indignantly. He was fed up with this arrogance and these faces. During normal shifts, he could tolerate being ordered around by many Property Owners, but now, there was no need to endure it anymore.

The old man was no pushover either. These words instantly enraged him, and besides, he was a seasoned veteran:

”Did everyone hear that? It’s only been a few days since the virus broke out, and they’ve already shown their true colors. This is a rebellion! They want to turn from dogs into masters!”

This insult was too much, instantly sparking public outrage and a battle between the two sides. The Property Owners struck first. ”Hit them! Teach these dogs a lesson! I’ve been sick of them for a long time. None of them have any common sense; they don’t even help with work unless they’re told to.”

”Right, hit them! The annual property fees were wasted on these dogs. We’ve been supporting them, and now they want to shit on our heads!”

”Kill them!”

Yan Xueqing was also furious. ”Then let’s see who the dogs are today! Brothers, let’s go! Beat them until they’re kneeling on the ground barking like dogs!”

”Damn it! I’ve been so frustrated. I won’t feel better until we beat the hell out of them!”

”Yeah, let’s show them who the real masters are here! Bang—”

The Batons swept through like a whirlwind. The three of them still held the upper hand against the dozen or so people. Yan Xueqing and his men were well-trained Martial Artists, while these Property Owners had no training and relied solely on brute force.

They thought their numbers were enough to handle three security guards, but they soon fell behind. One by one, they were knocked to the ground, while the old man who led them had long since vanished.

As he ran, he shouted, ”Everyone, come look! The security guards are leading an attack on us Property Owners! They’re hitting us with Batons and arrogantly claiming they’re the masters here!”

”What? Security guards are hitting Property Owners?”

”Is this true? They’ve really crossed the line! Let’s go downstairs and see. If it’s true, we’ll kill them!”

”Bring your weapons.”

The Property Owner Group instantly became active. Property Owners who were woken up, those who already had issues with the security, and the troublemakers all grabbed their weapons and ran over.

Seeing that the security guards really were hitting Property Owners, they joined the fight in a fit of passion, swinging their weapons.

”Kill you sons of bitches! You’ve been security guards for so long and still haven’t learned how to be dogs!”

”Yeah, kill them!”

It had been nearly a week since the Apocalypse began. These people had long been twisted by hunger, the sight of Zombies tearing people apart, and the various killings and robberies in the neighborhood.

On top of that, after so many incidents, not a single person from the Security Department had stepped up to stop anything. Instead, they had made a show of opening the warehouse to distribute food, acting all mysterious.

They weren’t fools. Even a starved camel is bigger than a horse. Property Management had been rooted here for ten years; how could there only be that little left? The truth was that the Security Department had hidden it.

Thus, more and more Property Owners arrived, disregarding everything else. They only wanted to kill these security guards.

In the security room, Gu Jie was woken up. One look and he knew things were bad. ”Quick, everyone gear up and prepare for battle! We can’t save Yan Xueqing and the others. They’ll be coming to attack us en masse soon.”

”What? Section Chief Gu, are you saying these Property Owners are coming to hunt us?” This realization chilled the security guards to the bone.

One guard pointed at Yan Xueqing and the other two. ”But what about them? Let’s go save them!”

Gu Jie shook his head. ”Do you think I don’t want to save them? We can’t. Look at how many Property Owners are out there. How many are in the entire neighborhood?”

”But we won’t know if we can save them unless we try!” They were brothers who worked together; he couldn’t bear to let them go.

Gu Jie had long lost his courage; he prioritized stability. He shouted sternly, ”We can’t save them! We’ll be lucky just to stay alive ourselves.”

Just as he finished speaking, the guard responsible for monitoring the Surveillance cameras screamed, ”Oh no, Section Chief Gu! They’re coming for us!”

On the Surveillance screen, Yan Xueqing and the other two were already on the ground, a bloody mess. They were unrecognizable, and their Batons were gone.

The Property Owners who had just killed them were now charging toward the security room, their faces filled with murderous intent.

Gu Jie immediately ordered, ”Lock all the doors! Everyone, get back! They can’t break through without professional tools.

You must realize that once the door is breached, it’ll be a fight to the death. It’s either them or us.”

”Yes, Section Chief Gu.” Everyone gripped their weapons, trembling with fear.

Gu Jie said, ”They don’t just want our lives; they want our food too. Whether we hand it over or not, we’re dead. So we must stick to the same story: we have nothing left.”

”Yes.” Everyone understood. At this life-or-death moment, none of them had ever imagined they would one day be attacked by the Property Owners en masse. How ironic.

Gu Jie stood at the very front of the group, looking out through the double doors.

”Bang—!” A sudden hammer strike startled Gu Jie and the others. The stainless steel frame at the top was bent by the blow. He tried to reason with them.
