Reborn As Super Heiress

Huo Sining kept her word and wrote a check for twenty million with no discount, handing it directly to Xu Shilong.

Over there Wu Deyue felt a sense of regret, but he was helpless; although the Golden Rhinoceros Paperweight was exquisite, it belonged to others, and now the owner had directly set the price at twenty million, clearly not intending to sell further. If he continued to bid higher, it would truly be tactless.

This gathering continued until after five in the afternoon, and with the auction over, Xu Shilong had already prepared a banquet at the hotel, inviting everyone to dine together at the restaurant.

By this time, quite a few people had already left the venue. Liang Ruicheng quietly left with his suitcase after Huo Sining bought her own Golden Rhinoceros Paperweight, as did Wu Deyue and his son Wu Shaorong shortly before the gathering ended.

Most of the people remaining were those who had obtained treasures at the auction. When one gets a treasure, naturally their mood is good, so they stayed on. Even though the auction was over, these people were still eager to continue chatting and sharing their joyful feelings with each other.

Today, the exchange gathering granted Xu Shilong the charity fund of twenty million from Huo Sining, bringing him immense joy. He was all smiles and exuberant, while for Huo Sining, this gathering marked her first battle penetrating the Imperial Capital’s antique circle, and she indeed executed a remarkable victory.

Due to the Bronze Pot and the Golden Rhinoceros Paperweight, everyone in the circle came to know Huo Sining. Initially, many thought she was under Zhou Shitao’s protection. However, after this battle, Huo Sining’s name rooted itself in many hearts.

After Huo Sining auctioned the Golden Rhinoceros Paperweight, everyone recognized the prowess of this young lady. Some with keen instincts began probing for her thoughts, inquiring whether she had other significant treasures to sell. Others wanted Huo Sining to appraise treasures for them, believing that while Zhou Shitao couldn’t be moved, it should be possible to invite his apprentice.

Thus, after this meal, Huo Sining ended up with a thick stack of business cards.

These business cards, if presented to anyone, would be considered true treasures as they were personal cards, and all the people present were highly socially positioned, leaving countless people yearning for one. However, in Huo Sining’s eyes, these were mere burdens.

Nevertheless, this dinner was satisfying for both guests and host alike, and by the time they dispersed, it was past nine at night. Huo Sining had just returned to Zhou Residence with Zhou Shitao when Gu Xu brought Qibao to pick her up.

Huo Sining bade farewell to Zhou Shitao. Gu Xu prepared to drive her home but halfway through, Huo Sining suddenly had a thought and said, ”Let’s take a look at Lao Huai Hutong over there!”

Lao Huai Hutong was referring to the old residence nearby. Huo Sining’s spontaneous idea was to try her luck in hopes of meeting the mysterious Uncle Tong. Unfortunately for Huo Sining, her visit yielded nothing.

The old residence was empty and completely dark inside, but the furniture and furnishings were clean and spotless, clearly having been recently cleaned and wiped.

Huo Sining also went to the wing rooms and pushed open Uncle Tong’s room. Inside was silent but not cold; the burning coal fireplace still retained some warmth. It seemed as if someone returned just today, but now there was no sign of them.

With a sigh, Huo Sining looked around both inside and outside, ultimately expressing a sense of bleakness. ”Let’s go.”

Qibao curiously glanced at Huo Sining and asked, ”Sister, what are you looking for?”

Huo Sining gave a bitter smile and said, ”Looking for a person.”

Qibao was slightly stunned and asked, ”Who are you looking for? Do I know them?”

Huo Sining shook her head. ”You don’t know them.”

Qibao nodded and asked, ”Then what do you want to do when you find them?”

Huo Sining paused and instinctively glanced at Gu Xu before replying:

”This person is very important to me. I need to confirm something directly with them to solve a puzzle that has troubled me for a long time, but this person is avoiding me, and I cannot find them.”

Upon hearing this, Qibao nodded with a semblance of understanding, catched by the hand of Huo Sining. After walking a few steps, the little one suddenly stopped and quickly pulled Huo Sining’s hand, tugging on her sleeve to indicate for her to squat down.

Huo Sining paused, somewhat confused, and looked at Qibao before complying and squatting before the little one.

The little one, full of mystery, asked, ”Sister, do you truly want to find this person?”

Huo Sining did not understand what the little one meant but still nodded. ”Yes, but this person’s identity is somewhat special, and I can’t find them.”

Qibao instantly narrowed their eyes and showed an excessively bright, sly smile. ”Finding this person is not hard; Qibao will help you!”

”Hmm? You’ll help me, how will you help?” Huo Sining, hearing this, was stunned and looked in disbelief at the little one.

Qibao, faced with doubt, was immediately unhappy and defiantly puffed his small chest out: ”Sister, you don’t believe me? I can really help you find them; just wait and see!”

Without waiting for Huo Sining’s response, the little one turned around and ran towards the door Huo Sining had opened earlier. It was Uncle Tong’s room, and the little one ran inside, not sure what he was up to.

Seeing this, Huo Sining hurriedly chased after, only to see the little one standing by Uncle Tong’s bed with a porcelain bottle, seemingly pouring something onto the bed.

”Qibao, what are you doing?!” Huo Sining exclaimed in shock, thinking the child was up to mischief and angrily scolded.

Gu Xu also looked at Qibao with a face of confusion.

Qibao remained calm, and after pouring the contents of the bottle onto the bed, he calmly closed the bottle, tucked it into a cloth pocket on his person, then raised his head to smile at Huo Sining. ”All done, sister, let’s go.”

”What did you pour on the bed just now?” Huo Sining lowered her head to inspect, finding no abnormalities on Uncle Tong’s bed and couldn’t find what the little one poured there. She suddenly felt suspicious and cast a glance at Qibao’s cloth pocket.

The little one’s face revealed a sly smile, shook his head without explanation, and merely chuckled: ”Nothing much, sister, don’t worry. Qibao will surely help you catch this person!”
