Reborn As Super Heiress

Huo Sining looked down for a moment. The identity card of this middle-aged man was a second-generation ID, which didn’t appear to be a fake. She verified the photo and age on the ID, which completely matched the person. After checking, Huo Sining picked up the ID and returned it to the middle-aged man.

The middle-aged man instinctively reached out to take it, but at that moment, Huo Sining simply let go, and the ID card fell to the ground.

”Sorry, sorry, I didn’t notice you didn’t hold it steady...” Upon seeing this, Huo Sining quickly apologized.

The middle-aged man didn’t think much of it and shook his head, saying, ”It’s fine.”

Saying that, he bent down to pick up the ID from the floor.

Taking advantage of this gap, in almost the blink of an eye, Huo Sining swiftly swapped out the other two sets of guarantees from her storage ring. They were still two A4 sheets, identical in format and wording to the previous guarantees, with only a few extra words added in the new contract.

Li Quan and Jiang Xiaoqin were both present, and they both felt a flicker in front of their eyes. But when they came back to their senses and looked at Huo Sining again, she still appeared calm and composed with no signs of anything amiss, so they didn’t overthink it, assuming it was just their eyes playing tricks.

Since Huo Sining had been holding the two guarantees the entire time and calmly sat on the sofa without moving an inch, the middle-aged man, after picking up the ID, didn’t suspect anything unusual about her.

This man’s eagerness to complete the task as soon as possible and report back, with the progress at this point, he didn’t anticipate any unexpected changes. Having checked the ID, he then began to urge, ”Boss Huo, the ID has been checked. Can we sign now?”

Huo Sining’s lips curled into a smile. The more anxious this man was, the more he played right into her trap. She nodded and said, ”No problem, we can sign.”

The urgency on the man’s face grew even more intense. Seeing this, Huo Sining quickly handed over the guarantees.

The middle-aged man picked up the two guarantees, glanced over them briefly, and then, without hesitation, picked up the pen from the coffee table and started signing.

After filling in the ID number, he signed, pressed his vermilion fingerprint, and each party kept a copy as assurance. With that, all formalities were complete, and the man finally breathed a huge sigh of relief. Without any hesitation, he gladly handed Huo Sining a pile of ten thousand yuan, still unsealed.

The middle-aged man carefully stored his copy of the guarantee and then smiled at Huo Sining, asking, ”Boss Huo, I was in a hurry and didn’t have a suitable candidate. I’ll find someone to contact an antique appraiser when I get back, and I’ll come to pick up the painting tomorrow. No issues on your side, right?”

Huo Sining nodded, ”No problem. You can come by anytime to pick it up. But didn’t you mention earlier that you’re short on money? How could you gather such funds in such a short time?”

This was Huo Sining deliberately reminding the middle-aged man not to forget the story he had concocted earlier.

As expected, her remark froze his expression; he had long forgotten what he had previously said. With her questioning, he immediately felt guilty, chuckled, and gave a vague explanation:

”I managed to gather it. Even if I really can’t, I know a few friends. If needed, I’d temporarily borrow from them. No way I’d owe Boss Huo money. Rest assured about that, Boss Huo.”

Huo Sining didn’t expose his lie, just smiled and nodded, extending her hand, saying, ”If that’s the case, then let’s wish for a pleasant collaboration. Hopefully, sir, you’ll take care of my little shop in the future!”

”Sure, I’ll definitely mention to my friends that there are many good things in your store, urging them to come by!”

The middle-aged man also extended his hand to shake Huo Sining’s, adding a meaningful remark, emphasizing the word ”come by,” with a sardonic look in his eyes and on his brow.

Huo Sining sneered internally but didn’t show it one bit. This man truly couldn’t keep his composure. Despite having just signed the guarantee, he couldn’t wait to show his true colors before even leaving the shop.

Moreover, when she shook his hand, she felt that his palm was rough and callused, clearly indicating someone who was hard-pressed in life. Such a person couldn’t possibly have the leisure to dabble in antiques and paintings.

”I have some matters to attend to, so I won’t be seeing you off. Li Quan, see the guest out!”

With that, Huo Sining walked into the inner room, as if truly having something to handle.

”Alright, boss, see you tomorrow.” The middle-aged man, having achieved his purpose, naturally didn’t mind this slight lapse in courtesy from Huo Sining, smiling as he walked out of the Jubao Pavilion with Li Quan.

Li Quan was filled with doubts, not knowing what plot Huo Sining was up to, so when seeing the middle-aged man off, he tried to make some small talk, but couldn’t glean any useful information. Anxious, he hurried back, intending to ask Huo Sining for clarification.

But rushing back, he didn’t see any sign of Huo Sining.

”Where’s Miss Huo?” Li Quan asked Jiang Xiaoqin urgently.

Jiang Xiaoqin pointed to the inner room, ”In the back. She just went there.”

Li Quan promptly headed to the back, but after searching around, he couldn’t find her. He even looked through the courtyard and the kitchen, but still saw no trace of her.

Now puzzled, he ran back to the front of the store, ”I didn’t see her, I’ve checked everywhere.”

Jiang Xiaoqin was astonished, ”Impossible, I saw her with my own eyes going to the inner room. Did she go to the bathroom?”

While Li Quan and Jiang Xiaoqin were busy searching for Huo Sining, she was already several tens of meters away from the Jubao Pavilion.

It turned out, upon entering the inner room, she had quietly recited the Invisibility Spell, discreetly exiting the pavilion and stealthily following behind the middle-aged man.

Huo Sining suspected there was something off about this middle-aged man. Since he was sent by someone else to put on an act, he must be under someone’s command. Having completed his task, he would naturally report back to his handler, so she decided to trail him and find out who was pulling the strings.

Indeed, as she followed him, Huo Sining confirmed her suspicions.

Trailing the middle-aged man, she arrived at a tearoom suite over a hundred meters from Antique Street. Upon entering, she immediately saw another middle-aged man sipping tea.
