Reborn As Super Heiress

The CCTV Spring Festival Gala is a monopoly product. Every New Year’s Eve, including CCTV, fourteen channels, along with major satellite channels, broadcast the Spring Festival Gala live. Its data encompasses domestic and overseas television, internet, social media, and other multi-terminal multi-channel viewership and interaction. Every year, the audience scale exceeds hundreds of millions of people.

However, in recent years, the viewership of the Spring Festival Gala on New Year’s Eve has been declining, because with the development of TV media and internet media, people are exposed to more and more fresh things daily. The variety of programs that are good to listen to, good to watch, and fun to play with is increasing, so people no longer rely solely on the Spring Festival Gala as the only platform.

The Spring Festival Gala began in 1983, during an era of scarcity in content and platforms. People’s entertainment options were limited, and watching the Spring Festival Gala seemed to be the only trendy entertainment option on New Year’s Eve.

Nowadays, with the rise of satellite channels’ Spring Festival Galas and internet Spring Festival Galas, the dominance of CCTV’s Spring Festival Gala is gradually changing.

The more the audience sees, the more discerning their tastes become, so the Spring Festival Gala has become harder to organize. The director team racks their brains for ideas, but the result is still the same, attracting a barrage of criticism and backlash from the audience, accusing the Spring Festival Gala of becoming increasingly dull, and the viewership ratings are also worse year by year.

It is precisely because of this reason that Han Wen and several directors understood what a seven-percent increase in viewership means. So, upon hearing the situation reported by an employee, they couldn’t contain their excitement and immediately stood up on the live broadcast site, eager to go to the data monitoring room to check the situation.

Several directors, along with Han Wen, rushed to the data monitoring room. The staff there were recording data and were startled upon seeing the directors rushing over.

”How’s the viewership now?”

The director asked in a deep voice, his gaze already fixed on the fluctuating red and blue lines on the screen.

”The viewership is gradually decreasing now, but when the magic show just started, the viewership surged all the way up, peaking at 37.6%. However, it’s still only the tenth program, so we can’t guarantee this data is this year’s peak viewership for the Spring Festival Gala, but this viewership is already very high.”

The staff calmed their nerves and pointed out several numbers on the screen to show the TV station’s senior leaders.

After hearing this, the director nodded and suddenly thought of something, asking, ”What about the comment heat on other platforms?”

”On other platforms, mainly online media, since Miss Huo herself is a Weibo celebrity, her magic performance was a buzz topic online even before it started, drawing plenty of media and netizen attention. As soon as her program aired, it received a good reaction, triggering a lot of discussions among netizens and media influencers. Some young people who usually don’t watch Spring Festival Galas started tuning in after seeing the rave online reviews, which is why our viewership surged uncontrollably after Huo Sining’s magic performance began.”

The staff opened up the computer, clicked on Weibo, and scrolled down the window. Sure enough, on the right side’s popular topics list, they quickly found that topics related to the magic show Miss Magic were occupying six out of the ten popular topics on Weibo’s homepage.

The first few topics were fairly normal, but the last two topics made several directors twitch uncontrollably, with dark lines appearing on their foreheads.

Magic is a new program that has risen in popularity at the Spring Festival Gala in recent years to cater to the tastes and market of young people. It isn’t a particularly novel topic, but no one expected that due to Louis’s accident, Han Wen unexpectedly recruited Huo Sining as a stand-in, resulting in such high attention.

More importantly, just after the Spring Festival Gala aired in previous years, it would be criticized by countless netizens. However, this year, perhaps because of the magic performance as a backdrop, while there were some critiques online, it was noticeably less than previous years. More people were involved in discussions about the magic performance. Regarding Huo Sining’s ”A Tribute to the Mermaid Princess,” praise was overwhelming, apart from a few nitpickers. Most people were evaluating with an appreciative mindset. Even some routinely picky reviewers were full of praise for Huo Sining’s magic performance, leaving them wanting more.

Several directors were middle-aged and older, so they didn’t understand the young people’s thoughts and preferences. However, they could see that Huo Sining’s magic was definitely appealing to the young people’s taste. Because of Han Wen’s unintended action, this year’s Spring Festival Gala might be different from previous years.

Of course, seeing the hot discussions on Weibo, everyone realized that Huo Sining is a formidable character. Perhaps, this little-known girl might become the biggest winner of this year’s Spring Festival Gala.

And at this moment, someone on Weibo unexpectedly forwarded a message and @CCTV Spring Festival Gala official blog, posting a curious expression, asking if the news was true.

Initially, nobody really paid attention to this inconspicuous Weibo post, but as some well-known influencers forwarded the post and tagged Starshine Economic Company, An Rong Ada, and Han Wen’s Weibo, the news quickly caught some people’s attention.

The Weibo post claimed that Starshine’s female artists An Rong and Ada were simultaneously struck with a severe illness (query here, why simultaneously, is this an excuse from Starshine to cover up a scandal?), leading to an inability to perform at the Spring Festival Gala. Their withdrawal enraged the Spring Festival Gala’s chief director Han Wen, who declared that Starshine artists would no longer be invited to future Gala events and canceled An Rong and Ada’s originally scheduled program rehearsal. The authenticity of the news remains uncertain and requires confirmation.

After being forwarded by the influencers, the Weibo post spread rapidly on Weibo like wildfire. Fans are incessantly questioning under the posts of the two involved parties and Starshine’s official blog; Starshine’s phone lines are blown up by fans.

Starshine wanted to keep silent, trying to conceal the incident by saying nothing. They even had a plan ready: if people inquire after the Gala, and when they can no longer withstand the pressure, they’d lie and deny An Rong and Ada had ever been invited by the Spring Festival Gala director team to cover up the truth.

But, unexpectedly, the Weibo post was seen by the directors in the data monitoring room and the Spring Festival Gala’s chief director Han Wen.
