Reborn As Super Heiress

Huo Sining heard this and a black line appeared on her forehead. Lu Ruiqi’s temperament had indeed changed a lot. She didn’t expect that this child, whom she hadn’t seen for a few months, had become so cheerful.

Probably guessing Huo Sining’s thoughts, Chief Lu smiled and explained, ”Your Aunt Xue took your advice and sent this child to the Fourth High School, where all the kids in the class come from ordinary families. The child integrated into the school environment quickly, has strong adaptability, and no longer has those previous self-esteem issues. His personality has become much sunnier.”

Huo Sining nodded upon hearing this. It seemed that Chief Lu also didn’t want the halo of the Lu Family to become a burden and shackle during Lu Ruiqi’s growth. By sending him to an ordinary school, without the fear of students and the praise of teachers, Lu Ruiqi could live and study like a child from an ordinary family, allowing his nature to be released and enabling him to grow more healthily.

”This is quite good. Rui Qi is still young and needs the companionship and communication of peers. The world of adults is too complicated. He doesn’t need to be involved yet. I always say this child was too mature for his age, and forcing growth isn’t a good thing for him,” Huo Sining said with a smile, suddenly thinking of something. She turned to Han Wen and said, ”Director Han, now that the makeup is done, can I take this child to see backstage?”

Han Wen, of course, couldn’t refuse. Not only because Huo Sining asked, but also because of the identity of the little young master of the Lu Family. She had no right to refuse, and she quickly nodded, ”Sure, but please be careful.”

In fact, there were already many people seated in the audience at this time, but at the table of Chief Lu, no one dared to casually walk over and strike up a conversation. There were also some veteran actors seated at their spots. Seeing Huo Sining sitting at that prestigious seat, chatting and laughing with the senior chiefs happily, they were all stunned.

”Isn’t that the magician who replaced Louis earlier? What’s the background of that young girl, sitting at Chief Lu’s table?”

”I’m puzzled too. I thought I was seeing things.”

”Is it really that strange? Isn’t it Director Han who brought that girl there? I guess she wanted the girl to get some face time in front of the chiefs.”

”You’re thinking wrong. Do you know who are the people at that table? With Director Han’s status, she couldn’t possibly bring a stranger girl to save face there, not unless she doesn’t want to work at the TV station anymore! Given Director Han’s identity, what kind of face would she have in front of those people? She probably couldn’t get a word in edgewise.”

”Exactly, what kind of identity does Han Wen have to dare take someone there to save face? Do you think that table is just a couple of TV station directors or something? Let me tell you, the people seated there aren’t ordinary at all. It’s said that those people were invited with much effort and persuasion by Han Wen. Just one of them stamping their feet in the Capital would make the entire Huaxia tremble three times!”

”So in other words, those elders are giving face to that young girl named Huo? What’s her real background, given she’s chatting with those elders without any restraint?”

”Whatever the background, she’s definitely not from an ordinary family. Just look at how relaxed she is in front of those elders, speaking with a natural expression. One glance and you can tell she’s familiar with them.”

”I was wondering how this young girl could skip the program interview and just parachute onto the Spring Festival Gala stage. I hadn’t heard her name before. Turns out, her backing is this solid. No wonder Han Wen is so keen to curry favor with her.”

”...”

Several celebrities whispered to each other in private, while the expressions of several TV station directors and deputy directors varied. Everyone could see that including Chief Lu, the old chiefs sitting there waiting to watch the Spring Festival Gala didn’t value Han Wen or a station director’s face but was there because of Miss Huo.

The directors exchanged glances, and they all saw the shock and incredulity in each other’s eyes. They were all very curious about the real background of this young Miss Huo.

Amid these speculations, Huo Sining appeared indifferent, not showing any satisfaction or arrogance, nor did she display any fear. After obtaining Han Wen’s approval, she took Lu Ruiqi, along with Gu Xu and Qibao to the backstage.

Han Wen, of course, couldn’t possibly stay in the audience while leaving Huo Sining. Since Huo Sining wanted to take the young master of the Lu Family to visit, she had to accompany them. With these few people, they went backstage, where Han Wen personally acted as a guide, introducing the backstage situation to Lu Ruiqi.

Seeing this scene, the actors backstage, including the hosts, were all shocked. No one understood what was going on. They all looked at Huo Sining with probing eyes.

Time passed by minute by minute, and at exactly eight o’clock, the Spring Festival Gala went live. Han Wen was in charge of overseeing the whole venue. Huo Sining, Gu Xu, and others returned to the audience. The two elders from the Huang Family also came with their wives, sitting next to the elders from the Gu Family. The two best round table seats were just right to accommodate the elders and their spouses.

Huo Sining sat with the elders below the main seats. After watching three or four programs, a staff member came to remind her to go backstage to touch up her makeup and prepare before taking the stage. Only then did Huo Sining stand up and give the elders an apologetic smile.

”Perform well. We’re here specifically to see you perform, so don’t embarrass us old guys!”

The other elders comforted Huo Sining, telling her not to be nervous. Zhou Shitao, however, had a stern face, looking like he was worried Huo Sining might mess up the show.

Huo Sining couldn’t help but laugh and cry, nodded, and followed the staff to leave.

The programs continued one after another. Soon, the performer of the ninth program took a bow on stage, and the two hosts came on stage with smiles to start announcing.

”In a palace deep in the ocean, there lives a mysterious mermaid family. The ruler of this palace is the old mother of the Sea King. She has six beautiful granddaughters, the youngest of whom is not only beautiful but also imaginative. She always longs to come up to the sea surface to see the world...”

”Huh, isn’t this the fairy tale by An Tongsheng? Dong Qing, did you remember your lines incorrectly?”

”No mistake, it’s this one. It’s my favorite fairy tale story from my childhood. Didn’t you read it, Zhu Jun?”

”I did, but what’s its connection to our occasion today?” Zhu Jun wondered.

Dong Qing laughed, ”Of course it has a connection because the upcoming program is our Mermaid Princess’s Tribute. In the fairy tale, the Mermaid Princess comes to the surface seeking love, but this time, our Mermaid Princess is coming ashore to give New Year’s greetings to the people nationwide.”

”The Mermaid Princess is giving New Year’s greetings, really?” Zhu Jun was shocked, wide-eyed, pulling a deliberately exaggerated expression as he looked toward the camera.

”Of course it’s true. Look, isn’t she coming?” Dong Qing pointed toward the stage, the director switched cameras, and everyone in the audience followed Dong Qing’s gesture, looking towards the stage behind.

The lighting technician turned off all the lights on the stage, and the curtain slowly opened, with dim blue lights gradually illuminating.
