Reborn As Super Heiress

In fact, fifteen million is indeed beyond the market price, even in a formal auction, it might not fetch such a high price.

But Huo Sining thought, since it’s for charity, the higher the better, which is naturally a good thing.

Moreover, Xu Shilong is the organizer and a bit of a confidant with Huo Sining, so her question was entirely a friendly reminder.

But in the ears of Wu Deyue’s son, he thought Huo Sining wanted to earn even more, hinting for Xu Shilong to continue raising the price.

So, Wu Deyue’s son unceremoniously uttered the phrase ”insatiable greed.”

Although these four words were said in a low voice, because the entire venue was very quiet, everyone near Wu Deyue, including Zhao Shitao, Shi Qingyun, and those old experts, as well as Huo Sining standing on the display stage, heard it clearly.

Those experts around were all taken aback. After all, they thought, since it’s an auction, even if the money ends up in the seller’s pocket, Huo Sining wanting a higher price was understandable.

Moreover, before Huo Sining even proposed to auction the Tian Huangshi Paperweight, she had clearly stated that she wouldn’t take a penny, and all the money would be donated to charity. So, no matter how high Xu Shilong and Wu Deyue bid, it had little significance to Huo Sining since she wouldn’t receive a dime.

So, everyone felt that Wu Deyue’s son’s words were too much; even Wu Deyue’s face changed instantly upon hearing them.

Of course, Huo Sining also heard the words. Her smile faded considerably as she raised her head and looked coldly at Wu Deyue’s son without saying a word.

Wu Deyue tugged at his son’s sleeve, signaling him to stop talking, but his son still hadn’t figured out the situation, thinking Huo Sining auctioned it to make money, his expression turned somewhat unpleasant, saying aloud:

”Boss Xu, since this lady is not satisfied with 15 million, why don’t you continue bidding? Don’t worry, I can still play a few more rounds with you!”

These words of Wu Deyue’s son were directed at Xu Shilong, but his eyes were fixed on Huo Sining, filled with disdain and contempt.

This really angered Wu Deyue, and he turned around and angrily shouted at his son, ”Wu Shaorong, shut up for your father!”

Huo Sining was furious and couldn’t help but let out a light laugh, looking at Xu Shilong on the side, ”Boss Xu, could you do me a favor and witness this?”

Saying this, Huo Sining picked up the Huanghuali Wood Box on the side and put the Golden Rhinoceros Paperweight back into the box with a ”snap,” closing the lid.

”I offer 20 million to buy this paperweight myself, Boss Wu, do you want to continue bidding?!” Huo Sining said loudly, holding the wood box in her hands.

Wu Shaorong was stunned upon hearing this, and even the others in the audience looked confused.

Wu Deyue’s face turned beet red with embarrassment, as if he wished to find a hole to hide in.

Wu Shaorong, not understanding the situation, couldn’t help but lower his head and quietly ask his father, ”Dad, what’s going on, isn’t that the woman’s auctioned item, why is she buying it back?”

Wu Deyue was embarrassed beyond words by his son, and hearing such a question from him, he almost couldn’t speak from anger:

”You... you’re going to be the death of me... do you think having a little money is so great? That Tian Huangshi Paperweight was donated by Miss Huo... the auction money is to be donated to the foundation for charity!... Yet you said she was insatiable! You, you’re deliberately screwing your old man over...”

Hearing this, Wu Shaorong was dumbfounded, looking up at the girl standing on the stage, seeing her glaring at him with anger, the crowd around also giving him strange looks, making Wu Shaorong feel extremely embarrassed.

Xu Shilong, being a smart person, seeing how tense the situation got, hurried out to mediate: ”Miss Huo, don’t be upset, Boss Xiao Wu didn’t understand what was going on, not knowing this is a charity auction, so his words were a bit harsh, but ignorance is not a crime, and Boss Xiao Wu certainly didn’t mean any harm, right Boss Xiao Wu?”

Seeing Xu Shilong giving him an out, Wu Shaorong wasn’t naive enough to keep opposing Huo Sining, promptly changing his attitude to take the high ground:

”Yes, yes, Miss Huo, I’m truly sorry, I just got here, and my dad didn’t explain things to me clearly, just told me he wanted to buy your Tian Huangshi Paperweight, so I didn’t get the situation clearly, and my previous statement was wrong, I apologize, please don’t take it to heart.”

Wu Shaorong’s words were quite polite, but his previously arrogant attitude really displeased Huo Sining. This person clearly had the mannerisms of a nouveau riche, yet looked down on others, especially with those ”insatiable greed” words, which indeed angered Huo Sining. So even with Wu Shaorong’s apology, she didn’t plan to change her mind.

”Apologies are not necessary, this is a charity auction. Since it’s an auction, the highest bidder wins. Since I can sell at a high price to Boss Wu, Boss Xu, or anyone here, why not just sell to myself? 20 million, if Boss Wu can bid a higher price, feel free to increase the bid, as you said, don’t worry, I can still play more rounds with you!”

When Huo Sining said this, she used a light tone, but what she said indeed blocked Wu Shaorong effectively, wasn’t it about having more money, wasn’t she insatiable? Huo Sining used her actions to prove whether she was insatiable.

Wu Shaorong turned red from anger by Huo Sining’s words, and even Wu Deyue felt disgraced, but Wu Deyue, after all, was decades older than Wu Shaorong and experienced many situations. Given the current situation, it was indeed his son’s fault first, so he couldn’t blame Huo Sining for countering. So, he didn’t let his son continue arguing, waved, and smiled wryly:

”Since that’s the case, this Golden Rhinoceros Paperweight will go to Miss Huo then. My son misjudged today. Miss Huo has not only insight and knowledge of antiques but also a distinctive personality. Mr. Zhou indeed has good fortune having such an excellent closed-door disciple!”
