Reborn As Super Heiress

The swindler was at a loss for words; he hadn’t expected Huo Sining to have such a trick up her sleeve, secretly recording everything while he was not paying attention.

However, after a few seconds of panic, the man named Kong quickly regained his composure. He suddenly realized that the recording in Huo’s hand was useless. He had a guarantee paper, and that paper had her signature and fingerprint, which was what’s legally binding!

At this thought, the swindler quickly pulled a carefully folded piece of printed paper from his chest pocket, unfolded it with a few shakes, and sneered, ”So what if you have a recording? We signed a guarantee paper. The guarantee paper clearly states in black and white that if this Shen Zhou painting is a forgery, you have to refund me double the deposit!”

Upon hearing this, Liu Pengcheng and Zhu Qingming were stunned, exchanging a glance filled with dissatisfaction.

Zhu Qingming furrowed his brow tightly, his face growing even darker.

He was a painter, and more importantly, a member of the National Painting Academy, representing the reputation of the painting and calligraphy world. Originally, he was entrusted by Liang Ruicheng to authenticate a painting for this Boss Kong, without any ulterior motives.

Of course, part of it was his curiosity after hearing that Boss Kong had acquired an authentic Shen Zhou. He wanted to see it himself, which is why he was persuaded to come, bringing Su Zhongqing along to take a look.

But Su Zhongqing had an emergency and couldn’t make it, so he sent his apprentice to accompany him instead, and thus they came with Boss Kong.

To their surprise, upon arriving at the shop, they found the painting to be a replica, and now this Boss Kong was bringing up the recording and deposit issues, causing confusion and frustration in Zhu Qingming’s heart. Having lived long enough, he understood there was more to this matter and that he and Liu Pengcheng were likely being used as pawns!

Huo Sining, being sharp, noticed Zhu Qingming and Liu Pengcheng’s expressions and realized they were unaware of Liang Ruicheng and Kong the Swindler’s scheme. Seeing this, she quickly stepped forward, inviting Zhu Qingming and Liu Pengcheng back to their seats on the sofa, and asked Jiang Xiaoqin to change the tea. Smiling, she said, ”Director Zhu, Mister Liu, please sit. I will explain this to you a bit later!”

Zhu Qingming looked at the painting, then at Huo Sining, and finally sat down. The anger inside him was rising, but seeing Huo Sining’s soft words, he couldn’t just leave in anger.

If he didn’t have a certain liking for this young lady named Huo and if the seal on the painting weren’t indeed Shen Zhou’s, Zhu Qingming might have walked away long ago instead of patiently wasting time with this Boss Kong.

On the other side, Li Quan was calm, pulling Boss Kong aside, saying with a smile, ”Boss Kong, come, come; let’s first compare and see if our guarantee papers are the same!”

As he spoke, Li Quan took out the copy of the guarantee paper that Huo Sining had left the day before, handed it to Boss Kong, and said:

”Please take a close look at the one you have, check it out. Mine says, ’If the seal on the Bamboo Mountain Evening Rain Painting sold by Jubao Pavilion is a forgery, the transaction is void, and Jubao Pavilion will compensate double the deposit. If not a forgery and the buyer refuses to pay, it will be considered abandonment of purchase, and the ten thousand deposit is non-refundable!’ See, the guarantee paper clearly emphasizes the seal. Our shop is not into scamming our guests. It’s written all clearly in black and white!”

Boss Kong was taken aback and quickly took the contract for a closer look.

Upon seeing it, he almost blacked out and nearly fell to the ground in shock!

The guarantee paper indeed contained the words ”seal” this time!

Before signing the guarantee paper yesterday, he had meticulously reviewed it numerous times, remembering clearly that the contract explicitly mentioned Shen Zhou’s Bamboo Mountain Evening Rain Painting, without the words ”seal”!

Yet, right now, the guarantee paper clearly specified it in black and white, with his signature and fingerprint on it. He wondered if the man earlier had switched them, so he grabbed Li Quan’s guarantee paper and compared them side by side. Both were indeed in his handwriting, with his thumbprint, and both explicitly mentioned the seal.

What in the world was going on? In broad daylight, how could such a thing happen, what kind of sorcery was this!

Cold sweat suddenly beaded on Boss Kong’s forehead, leaving him dumbfounded!

”Boss Kong, I forgot to tell you, our shop is equipped with full surveillance cameras, so, in addition to the guarantee paper and recording, we have the surveillance footage of you signing it as well.”

Seeing Boss Kong’s frozen expression, Huo Sining was unafraid to administer another strong dose, smiling as she spoke yet with words sharp as knives.

”You!”

The swindler turned back to look at Huo Sining, his expression finally cracking. Seeing her calm demeanor and well-prepared evidence, if he still didn’t understand, he would truly be a fool.

In that moment, a memory suddenly flashed in his mind—something minor that happened during the contract signing. When Huo Sining handed back his ID card, she suddenly let go, and it fell beneath the coffee table, causing him to bend to pick it up.

The swindler suddenly realized, yes, that was the moment. This woman named Huo had deliberately made his ID fall, seized the opportunity while he picked it up to switch the guarantee paper!

At that time, he was focused on signing, only glancing quickly, noting the paragraph lengths hadn’t changed, so he didn’t look carefully—how was he to know she employed a pillar-switching scam, making him sign the switched guarantee paper!

”It’s you! You secretly switched the guarantee paper, tricking me into signing!” the swindler was livid, his face flushing red, shouting directly at Huo Sining.

Huo Sining shrugged, indifferent to Kong the Swindler’s accusations, instead turning her gaze toward the door, suddenly smiling coldly and asking:

”You’ll save that comment for your employer, Mr. Liang. By the way, when will Mr. Liang be coming? I guess he’s been waiting all along, waiting for Director Zhu to uncover the forgery in my shop, and then he just so happens to pass by, am I right, Boss Kong?”
