Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 401: Chapter 397 Xu Lian Stays at a Hotel

The Huang family was busy with their ancestral temple worship, while Xu Lian and her group from S City were in deep trouble.

They had been chased out by security from Huo Sining’s villa, and then caused a commotion outside the door, until they were finally exhausted.

Xu Lian hated Huo Sining so much that she clenched her teeth, but she was completely helpless.

In Baiyun Village, she was used to throwing her weight around. Being barefoot, she wasn’t afraid of those wearing shoes and liked to play dirty tricks, so the neighbors generally did not dare to provoke her.

But these tricks were useless in the city, because no one would put up with her.

The security at the villa complex was tight; she couldn’t even enter the neighborhood, let alone play dirty.

Moreover, Huo Sining wasn’t even in S City. Even if Xu Lian threw a tantrum, no one would see her, and she could only return in defeat.

Liu Meiling was also very annoyed that the damn girl Huo Sining had gone to the Capital City without giving them any notice. If that was the case, they could have gone directly to the Imperial Capital. Was it really necessary to make a detour to S City?

”Why didn’t that wretched girl say a word about going to the Imperial Capital, causing me to make this trip for nothing! She’s in the Imperial Capital celebrating the New Year, do you know whose place she’s at, Mei Ling?”

Xu Lian would not let things rest. She had a plan. Since Huo Sining went to the Imperial Capital, why not follow her there? As long as she could find that wretched Huo Sining, she wouldn’t worry about that damn girl denying her as her aunt.

But her thinking was too simplistic; was the Imperial Capital really that easy to find someone?

As Huaxia’s most prosperous city, the Imperial Capital spans 16,000 square kilometers, with 4 urban districts, 4 suburban districts, and 8 suburban counties, and a population of twenty million. Finding a person in such a vast city was like looking for a needle in a haystack.

Liu Meiling guessed that Huo Sining was most likely celebrating the New Year at the Gu family, but she was just an ordinary person. Knowing the location of Huo Sining’s villa was already her luckiest break; with her limited capabilities, how could she find out where the Gu family lived? She might have the intention but not the power.

”Auntie, Huo Sining must have gone to her boyfriend Gu Xu’s place in the Imperial Capital, but it’s so big, I don’t even know who to ask.”

”Her boyfriend comes from a wealthy family, so he must live in a fancy place. We can’t even get into Huo Sining’s villa complex here, let alone hope to enter her place in the Imperial Capital.”

”But you don’t need to worry, Auntie. Even if Huo Sining goes to the Imperial Capital for the New Year, she still has to come back to S City. After the New Year, she has to go back to school; she can’t stay there for a long time. We can come back by then.”

Jealousy flashed in Liu Meiling’s eyes. That damn girl really had good fortune; she looked like a preserved plum but still managed to snag a good man like Gu Xu.

Xu Lian snorted coldly, ”That wretched girl is indeed the seed of her mother, just like her mother, born to be a whore. The agreement isn’t even set, and she’s already running to a man’s house for the New Year. She’ll definitely get dumped by the man, just like her mother, with no good end!”

Xu Lian’s words hit Liu Meiling’s sore spot. That’s right, Huo Sining, a powerless and insignificant orphan, surely wouldn’t be welcomed by a family like the Gu family. Now that she’s eagerly heading to the Gu family for the New Year, they’d definitely look down on her even more. Probably, it wouldn’t be long before Gu Xu dumps her! By then, wouldn’t she have her chance?

Liu Meiling clearly has a serious case of hysteria, yet she hadn’t considered that even if Gu Xu dumped Huo Sining, it wouldn’t be her turn to become his girlfriend. She couldn’t even get a glimpse of Gu Xu, yet delusionally thought she stood a chance. Where on earth did she get this confidence from?

Moreover, Huo Sining was a university graduate after all; even if she was powerless, influential, and orphaned, she was still better off than Liu Meiling, a junior high school dropout who had degenerated into a streetwalker and escort.

But Liu Meiling obviously didn’t think so; the Xu family and the Huo family had always belittled Huo Sining and put her on a pedestal, so deep down, Liu Meiling had an ingrained belief that she was better than Huo Sining. This sense of superiority wasn’t going to change anytime soon.

Liu Meiling even rightfully assumed that Huo Sining was no match for Gu Xu and that once Gu Xu dumped Huo Sining, she could use her as a stepping stone to sneak her way in and become Gu Xu’s girlfriend, eventually marrying into wealth as the young Madame of the Gu family.

Luckily for Gu Xu, he was not there and unaware of Liu Meiling’s thoughts; otherwise, he would have laughed his teeth off.

While Liu Meiling dreamed of becoming a wealthy lady, Xu Lian merely coveted Huo Sining’s money. She wasn’t stupid; recalling what Auntie Li had said to Mrs. Song, she quickly realized another possibility.

”Didn’t the maid say that the wretched girl had opened a shop? Mei Ling, do you know where her shop is? Let’s go check it out!”

Greedy glints shone in Xu Lian’s eyes. She had arrived by bus in Luwan District of S City that morning, and everything she saw along the way was prosperously bustling. S City’s economy was far more developed than the Capital City of Bashu Province, and Xu Lian fell in love with the bright lights and glamorous urban life upon arriving in the city.

In Xu Lian’s eyes, if that wretched Huo Sining could open a store in the city, it must also be profitable. If she couldn’t enter the villa, then she would just go directly to Huo Sining’s shop. After all, those goods were all the Huo family’s property.

Liu Meiling didn’t want to go back dejectedly either. She recalled what she had heard from a hostess in the bar the other day and said somewhat uncertainly,

”The shop seems to be in the area of Chenghuang Temple, but I’m not sure what it’s called.”

Xu Xia looked at the time and saw it was already afternoon. She then said, ”Let’s go tomorrow morning. We’ll ask around then. For now, let’s go have lunch and find a place to stay. After sitting on a train for thirty to forty hours, I’m about to break apart from exhaustion!”

Xu Lian wanted to object, but upon glancing down at Huo Longjiang’s wilted and despondent appearance, she could see he was exhausted and hungry.

Though Xu Lian was selfish and greedy, she genuinely loved her son. Seeing Huo Longjiang like that, she softened and nodded in agreement.

The group wolfed down a meal at a roadside restaurant, then found an ordinary hotel to settle in.

The hotel charged one hundred and fifty yuan for a room per night. Xu Lian booked two rooms and paid five hundred yuan for the rent and deposit, which nearly made her vomit blood from heartache. She cursed under her breath at how every shop in the city was a rip-off, exclaiming how expensive it was just to stay in a room!

The receptionist looked at Xu Lian and her group as if they were country bumpkins, while Liu Meiling’s face went dark with embarrassment. She pretended not to know Xu Lian and the others and hastily headed to the elevator, internally regretting coming out with these people – it was utterly humiliating.

Since everyone had taken the train, naturally, they hadn’t slept well and were tired and sleepy. As soon as their heads touched the pillows, they passed out.

In the middle of the night, around three in the morning, Liu Meiling was still in a deep sleep when she vaguely felt an unbearable itch on a patch of skin on her face.
