Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 446: Chapter 442 A little bet to lighten the mood

It wasn’t easy to escape from Master Qin’s constant nagging, and the faces of several men showed a sense of relief as if they had survived a catastrophe, which amused Huo Sining greatly.

”Hey, didn’t you come over early? Why did it take you so long to get here?”

Ouyang Jun suddenly thought of something and turned his head to ask Song Hui.

As soon as this matter was brought up, Song Hui’s face looked rather unpleasant, ”I ran into some trouble on the way, which delayed me.”

Seeing the change in Song Hui’s expression, Ouyang Jun curiously pressed on, ”What happened?”

Song Hui said angrily, ”I ran into a little girl. She hit my new car and this chick had quite the temper. I’ve never come across a girl with such a fiery temper. She didn’t even offer to pay for the damage and, as soon as she got out of the car, she started kicking the door. Man, this girl’s hide...”

Once he started talking about it, Song Hui couldn’t stop, and Ouyang Jun and Qin Tian were both taken aback.

Song Hui was usually carefree and never took women seriously, but now he was infuriated because a little girl had hit his car. What did this mean?

It meant he had taken a fancy to the girl.

The men in the room exchanged glances, seemingly understanding the situation.

The corners of Gu Xu’s mouth curled up, and a knowing look flashed in his eyes.

It was only when they began ordering food that Huo Sining realized that Diecuiyuan was not a place where ordinary people could come. Only those with membership cards could come here to consume.

As for whom the membership cards were given to, one could guess they definitely belonged to those with status in the capital. Generally, people came here for business talks or leisure vacations, and the riff-raff were not allowed in. No wonder the place was so secluded and even had entry cards.

However, it must be said that Diecuiyuan’s private kitchen cuisine was indeed excellent. The master chef’s skills were truly commendable, reputed to be royal imperial cuisine. Not only were the dish names poetic, but their flavors were also very authentic, especially the sweet fermented rice balls, which were exceptionally delicate and rich in flavor. Huo Sining was full in no time.

The post-meal tea was Biluochun’s new leaves, tender and bright green. Taking just a small sip made the mouth fragrant.

Since it was a gathering, there were post-dinner activities, and Song Hui, who had recently been unlucky in love but lucky in gambling, proposed a small wager.

Huo Sining was good at mahjong, but didn’t really understand Texas Hold’em. Seeing this, Song Hui quickly said, ”Then we’ll play dice. It doesn’t require any skills and it’s easy to pick up.”

Picking up might be easy, but were skills really not necessary? Gu Xu cast a cold glance at Song Hui, clearly disdainful of his trickery in deceiving young women.

Huo Sining had never played dice but had seen it many times on TV and in movies. Throwing dice did not involve a heap of complicated rules; indeed, it seemed to be the simplest and quickest game. Thus, hearing what Song Hui said, she had no objections and nodded her agreement.

As for Gu Xu, he simply went along with his wife. While protective, he knew that Song Hui wanted to win Huo Sining’s money. But since Huo Sining had no objections, he didn’t care either.

”Alright, then we’ll bet on the size of the points scored.”

Song Hui, excited, brought over the dice, and after discussing the rules, they began to roll.

Whether it was bad luck for Huo Sining or something else, she kept guessing wrong in several rounds while the others at least had some wins among losses. Huo Sining was the only one consistently losing.

Song Hui won several rounds in a row and couldn’t help but show a smug look in his eyes.

Unable to win even once, Huo Sining felt somewhat deflated and wondered to herself if her luck was really that bad today.

When it was her turn to roll the dice, she held the dice cup in her hand, preparing to shake it, when suddenly, the Heavenly Eye opened.

The dice within the cup came into view, their values clearly visible.

Huo Sining suddenly froze, her brows and eyes twitching sharply as her hand stopped. She lifted her head and glanced at Gu Xu and then at Song Hui, blinking her eyes.

Because the Heavenly Eye had just opened, Huo Sining hadn’t yet adapted to the changes in her body and couldn’t think of what to do with this x-ray vision ability.

The secret behind the ancient painting had been discovered by pure accident, and she had completely forgotten that she possessed the Heavenly Eye. Only now, as she saw her dice cup as if it was transparent, did Huo Sining belatedly realize the situation.

If she possessed the Heavenly Eye, wouldn’t it mean that at the gambling table, she could cheat without anyone noticing? This was an absolutely heaven-defying cheating device!

The corners of Huo Sining’s mouth curved slightly, revealing a suddenly mischievous grin.

After Huo Sining finished rolling the dice, Song Hui couldn’t wait to bet big, and the remaining three players also began to place their bets.

Huo Sining revealed the result with a smile filled with meaning, and Song Hui won again. He laughed heartily, his expression full of smug superiority as he looked down on everyone else.

Since he had won a large sum of money, Song Hui failed to notice the sly, fox-like expression on Huo Sining’s face; thus, what followed was a tragedy for him.

Whenever it was his turn to roll, Huo Sining inevitably won, and she didn’t just bet on big or small—she also bet on the numbers.

Betting on specific numbers had higher odds, while big or small bets only paid out at one-to-one, guessing the right number paid at three-to-one.

Huo Sining didn’t win on the numbers every time, but she was right seven or eight times out of ten.

So the tables turned, and the previously unlucky Huo Sining started winning money, with all the winnings Song Hui had won now ending up in her purse.

Song Hui stared straight at Huo Sining, ”Didn’t you say this was your first time playing? You’re not pretending to be a pig to eat a tiger, tricking me on purpose, are you?”

Huo Sining wore an innocent face, ”It really is my first time playing, isn’t this all about luck? I was just guessing blindly.”

Song Hui’s face involuntarily stiffened. There were no perpetual winners in gambling, and he knew that sooner or later, one has to pay for what they owe, but didn’t his instant karma come a bit too quickly?

Song Hui seriously suspected that Huo Sining’s previous clumsiness was all an act. This girl had always been clever and full of mischievous ideas, and she seemed to have a mysterious master. It was quite possible that her master had taught her gambling skills while they were in Bashu.

It was such a rapid reversal. He had been on the winning side just moments ago, but now he was losing so badly his wallet was nearly deflated. How could he have gambled for so many years and possibly lose to a young girl?

Ouyang Jun and Qin Tian also sensed that something was wrong, but these two were more cunning than Song Hui. Since they weren’t the ones losing money and Song Hui had been so arrogantly triumphant before, they were happy to see someone taking him down a peg.

Song Hui’s complexion was very unpleasant. He was unwilling to concede and defiantly said, ”Let’s go again! No one else join in, just me against Huo Sining. I refuse to believe that luck will always be on her side! Let’s not bet on big or small this time, just on the numbers!”

A playful smile appeared on Huo Sining’s face, ”Are you sure?”
