Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 429: Chapter 425: Who Did It

Liu Manshu hurriedly protected Liang Junqi behind her, and upon seeing that Liang Junqi, though ragged, had not been bitten by the Tibetan Mastiff, she instantly breathed a sigh of relief.

However, Liu Manshu couldn’t help feeling indignant, especially when she thought about the recent events of Zhou Shitao taking Huo Sining as his disciple, combined with the bloody scene that had just unfolded. It seemed as if Liu Manshu had found an outlet for her resentment, and she couldn’t resist turning her head back to give Huo Sining a cold look:

”Miss Huo Sining, I hope you can give me a reasonable explanation and a proper resolution for today’s incident!”

Heitan was very agitated, barking wildly. Huo Sining’s smile faded as she squatted down, stroked Heitan’s head to comfort him, and at the same time, quietly channeled Spiritual Energy into Heitan’s body to calm his emotions.

This method of comfort indeed worked; Heitan, the rascal, enjoyed rubbing against Huo Sining’s palm and stopped causing trouble.

Huo Sining let out a breath of relief. The more she channeled Spiritual Energy into Heitan, the closer their relationship became. It was as if they had established some special connection. Huo Sining could even faintly sense Heitan’s emotions, whether they were joy, anger, sorrow, or pleasure.

Sensing Heitan’s anger and aggrievement, Huo Sining realized something was amiss. Without showing any emotion, she glanced at Liu Manshu and Liang Junqi and stood up to ask indifferently:

”Madam, may I ask what kind of resolution you are looking for?”

Liu Manshu raised her eyebrows and snorted coldly, ”A dog that attacks a person; your dog must either have rabies or some other problem. Do I even need to say how to handle it?”

Liu Manshu’s insinuation was to put the dog down then and there. Huo Sining’s expression immediately turned solemn upon hearing this, but Liang Junqi behind her was stirred.

Liang Junqi had been terrified by Heitan just now, and had given up on the thought of stealing the dog. However, hearing Liu Manshu’s words, her greedy thoughts that had been scared away started to resurface. Her eyes shifted before she directly addressed Huo Sining:

”Right, your dog bit me; you can’t let it off easily! Hand it over to me for handling; I will slaughter it! Also, I’ve been frightened by your dog; you must compensate me for emotional distress! Fifty, no, one million!”

At this moment, Liang Junqi was rescued and her complexion had returned to normal. Her voice and tone were no longer panicked and hoarse, which made Huo Sining suspect that the voice sounded familiar.

Huo Sining had not paid much attention to Liang Junqi’s appearance before. Now, hearing this voice and taking a closer look at Liang Junqi’s face, she flashed back to an image in her mind and immediately recognized Liang Junqi.

Remembering the time at Liulichang when Liang Junqi attempted to buy her Heitan for ten thousand yuan, Huo Sining instantly realized that there was something wrong with today’s incident.

Her dog was well-fastened in the backyard, and Heitan was very obedient; it was simply not possible for him to lash out without reason.

The backyard was some distance from the banquet hall, and it was unlikely that guests would walk over to this area. So why on earth had Liang Junqi come to the backyard?

Moreover, seeing Heitan’s aggrieved expression and his furious roar at Liang Junqi indicated that Liang Junqi had not intruded unintentionally, but deliberately!

With this in mind, Huo Sining couldn’t help but look in the direction of Heitan, and upon a quick scan, she indeed saw several pieces of bone and a syringe lying on the ground not far away.

With a slight upturn at the corner of her mouth, Huo Sining revealed a cold smile. She looked at Liang Junqi and asked out of feigned curiosity:

”Miss, I am curious about something and I wonder if you’d be willing to tell me why everyone else was dining in the banquet hall, and you ran off to the back yard by yourself?”

Upon hearing Huo Sining’s question, Liang Junqi’s breath hitched, her complexion stiffened, and she subconsciously glanced at Liu Manshu.

Liu Manshu also found it strange since Liang Junqi had told her she was going to the restroom, but instead of heading there, she ended up in the backyard.

Huo Sining looked at Liang Junqi with a smirk that wasn’t quite a smile. Liang Junqi bit her lip and thought she gave a perfect explanation, ”I had finished eating and came out to the restroom, but I got lost and unwittingly entered the backyard. I didn’t know you had a dog here.”

Liu Manshu immediately took it as the truth and, while feeling secretly relieved, was also extremely angry about what the Huang Family had done that day.

There was a fierce Tibetan Mastiff tied up in the backyard without any warning. Wasn’t that tantamount to setting a trap? If she hadn’t overheard some noises from the backyard by chance, Liang Junqi might have already been bitten by that mastiff by now.

Huo Sining nodded slightly to Liang Junqi’s explanation and asked with a smile,

”Miss, you said you entered the backyard unintentionally, but my dog is leashed. The chain is only two meters long, and even if it stretched the chain, there should still be a good distance from the entrance.”

”How did you get to the center of the yard? There are night lights in the backyard; don’t tell me you didn’t see such a big dog lying there.”

Liang Junqi was just about to explain when, all of a sudden, Huo Sining turned around, crouched down, and carefully picked up several bones and the syringe from the ground, looking at Liang Junqi with a grin,

”Oh yes, and these things. Are they yours as well? Are these bones for my dog? If you stumbled into the backyard by chance, then how did you know in advance that I had a dog here and even went to the trouble of preparing bones?”

”And this syringe, what’s the composition of this medicinal solution and what is it used for? I hope you could explain this, miss.”

Liang Junqi’s complexion turned ashen in an instant. She tried to maintain her composure as she said, ”I don’t know what you’re talking about. Those things aren’t mine. I didn’t pay attention to the dog when I came into the backyard. I only realized there was a dog when I got to where it was tied. By the time I understood the danger, it was too late.”

Liang Junqi played dumb on purpose, planning to firmly deny everything. She thought her evasion was clever, but in the next moment, Huo Sining’s words would cast her from the clouds into hell.

”Is that so? I am sorry for the misunderstanding, then, and these things, I don’t know who threw them here.”

”Oh yes, Gu Xu, I remember you have surveillance cameras installed in this part of Chun Jing Garden, right? Just pull up the security footage and we’ll know who did it. If that’s not enough, we could send these items for fingerprint analysis and we’ll definitely catch this person!”

After all, Liang Junqi was only a seventeen-year-old girl. Her thoughts were not so meticulous, and she turned pale with fright at Huo Sining’s words.

Over there, Gu Xu understood what Huo Sining was getting at and turned towards the door as if he was about to retrieve the surveillance footage.

Seeing this, Liang Junqi knew she couldn’t avoid it. She stiffened her neck, both angry and indignant, and shouted at Huo Sining, ”I was the one who threw them, what about it?”
