Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 421: Chapter 417: There is a Fair Lady in the North

”Of course!”

To be asked to consider apprenticing for three days. Had anyone else said that, Zhou Shitao might have simply flung his sleeves and strode away in disdain.

However, when those words were spoken by Huo Sining, Zhou Shitao didn’t show any temper at all.

Instead, there was even a hint of a smile in his eyes, an unguarded show of agreement and admiration for Huo Sining.

Sometimes, that’s how people view things. If they like you, whatever you do or say seems right, but if they don’t, even breathing feels wrong.

Zhou Shitao thought that Huo Sining’s request to take three days to consider was good. The girl hadn’t changed her mind simply because of his status, which proved her steadfastness and independence of thought.

Not blindly echoing others’ opinions, like grass bending with the wind—this is the conduct expected of an appraiser.

Zhou Shitao even felt a bit relieved. Fortunately, Huo Sining hadn’t outright rejected him, agreeing to consider it for three days eased his nervousness, and his opinion of her had improved to its utmost.

Having lived with Zhou Shitao for so many years, Ji Kun could naturally sense the changes in his teacher’s mood. Seeing Huo Sining treated like a prized delicacy and even more favored than him, he suddenly felt a complexity of emotions stirring in his heart.

Earlier, he had recommended her earnestly. Now Kun had the sinking feeling he might have shot himself in the foot, and he subtly foresaw that his days ahead might not be so easy.

On the way back, Su Qingqing kept mumbling that Zhou Shitao had so humbly expressed his desire to take her as a disciple and that Huo Sining should have simply gone with the flow. Huo Sining didn’t explain but only smiled.

She truly felt that taking a master wasn’t something to be taken lightly, especially to become Mr. Zhou’s closed-door disciple. If she were really to take him as a master, she would have to pick an auspicious day, pay a formal visit, and perform the ceremony. Only then would it show sincere respect for the elder.

What Huo Sining hadn’t anticipated was that Zhou Shitao was anything but rigid. The man was determined to achieve his goal and would stop at nothing, completely disregarding conventional tactics. Before long, he presented Huo Sining with a difficult challenge.

The recognition banquet took place at Chun Jing Garden. Initially, Huo Sining hadn’t thought about having such a celebration, but the Huang Family insisted.

In the eyes of the three elders of the Huang Family, the banquet was a declaration to the world that they had gained another member, and it would also enable Huo Sining to rightfully enter the Huang Family and officially become one of them. Therefore, this rite of passage was indispensable.

To make sure Huo Sining could present herself beautifully, Huang Hanyun specially invited a makeup artist from the TV station, who gave Huo Sining a simple yet exquisite makeup look.

The makeup artist was astonished upon touching Huo Sining’s skin. In her many years of experience and having made up countless people, including pampered heiresses and celebrities who meticulously cared for their skin with various products, she had never encountered skin as delicate, smooth, and flawless as Huo Sining’s.

Gu Xu had also specifically hired a fashion designer to create an elegant evening gown for Huo Sining. After an afternoon of preparations, Huo Sining appeared before Gu Xu in a chiffon evening gown.

Her distinct features made her eyes look bright and profound, as though they possessed an immense allure. Even the exceedingly picky designer was satisfied with Huo Sining’s ensemble after seeing it, not to mention Mr. Gu, who was completely mesmerized.

Exquisite eyebrows, a high nose bridge, cherry-red lips—every single feature, whether seen separately or together, was perfect, with light and heavy makeup complementing each other beautifully.

Especially those eyes, so clear and lucid, they made Gu Xu feel a purity and cleanliness at just one glance.

Paired with her fair skin and silky jet-black hair, the sexy collarbones peeping out from beneath her chiffon shirt would flutter with the movement of her clothing, and Gu Xu couldn’t help but recall practicing calligraphy with his grandfather as a child: ”In the north there is a beauty, peerless and independent. A glance from her overthrows the city, another glance overthrows the country.”

Seeing Gu Xu staring straight at Huo Sining, forgetting even to blink, several people in the room couldn’t help but laugh, teasing him with giggles and chuckles before tactfully exiting the room.

Only Gu Xu and Huo Sining were left in the room, with Gu Xu in a daze. He looked at Huo Sining, his mouth opening as if to speak, but it felt as though something was blocking his throat.

His hand rose unconsciously to caress Huo Sining’s face.

Grazing that soft and smooth skin, those fine lashes, the delicate earlobes, and that lovely face, his heart was filled to the brim with her.

Sweetness, joy, and adoration mingled into a torrent of tender emotion, choking his throat, piercing his heart, and nearly robbing him of breath.

Huo Sining felt Gu Xu’s rough palms brushing her cheek, which made her uncomfortable. She lifted her head to discuss the matter of becoming his apprentice, but the moment she looked up, she saw Gu Xu’s eyes full of tenderness, and she was completely stunned, nearly drowning in that damn gentleness.

”You...”

Huo Sining had just begun to speak, hoping to divert attention, when the next second she was abruptly pulled into Gu Xu’s embrace.

Before her eyes, Gu Xu’s warm breath rushed towards her.

Gu Xu’s warm lips met her cool ones, leaving Huo Sining feeling a sudden heat on her lips, and instantly, she was bewildered.

Huo Sining disliked kissing; during her last life with Zhao Mingcheng, she was extremely averse to it.

Thus, in Huo Sining’s memory, her only kiss from her previous life occurred on the night of Shengtang Group’s annual meeting.

Back then, drugged by Wu Jingyi and under the influence of the medication, she lost control of herself in that dark alley, wrapped her arms around Gu Xu, and actively pressed her lips to his.

At this moment, being held in Gu Xu’s arms, everything was completely different from her last life.

Huo Sining didn’t hate this kiss, even felt a little dazed by it, but after a brief moment of shock, she realized what she was doing and immediately felt embarrassed, reaching out to push Gu Xu away.

However, Gu Xu seemed to be doing it on purpose, holding tightly onto her wrist after she struggled slightly, keeping Huo Sining firmly trapped in his embrace.

In the cramped space, Huo Sining was nestled tightly in Gu Xu’s arms, their gazes locked and breaths intertwined.

All the love and tenderness in Gu Xu’s dark and deep eyes were concentrated on Huo Sining.

Such focused intensity in his gaze, upon meeting those eyes, a strange tremor surged in Huo Sining’s heart, shaking her soul.
