Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 408: Chapter 404: Biological Father

”You are Wu Jingyi!”

Wu Dekai’s expression cracked; he wasn’t stupid and quickly came to his senses, realizing that the girl in front of him was playing him.

Clearly, this girl was Wu Jingyi, but she lied to him saying Wu Jingyi had gone out, obviously wanting to send him away on purpose.

The originally calm expression on Wu Jingyi’s face also changed instantly as she coldly sneered at Wu Dekai and said unkindly,

”So what if I am? Who are you? You don’t even know whether I am Wu Jingyi or not and dare to pretend to be my relative. I’m warning you, get out of here now, or I’ll call the police!”

Wu Dekai, when he heard that Wu Jingyi would call the police, immediately panicked and quickly started to explain, ”Don’t, don’t, I really am your relative. Have you not grown up in the Baiyun Township Orphanage these years? Do you also have a burn scar the size of a bowl on your back?”

Wu Jingyi’s gaze sharpened, and her eyes landed on Wu Dekai’s face, and she felt shocked inside.

She had never told anyone else about the burn scar on her back except for the head of the orphanage, and even Huo Sining wasn’t aware of it.

Wu Jingyi herself didn’t know how she got that scar; her memory held nothing about this scar, which is why she had specifically asked the head of the orphanage about it. The head had told her that the scar was there when she was sent to the orphanage, and it must have been there when she was with her biological parents.

But the man in front of her could easily mention the secret on her body, which was enough to prove that he was someone familiar with her.

Wu Jingyi suddenly realized something was amiss, noticing that the female neighbor next door was still staring at them with a gossiping look. She swallowed back the words that had almost reached her mouth and casually glanced at Wu Dekai, saying, ”Let’s talk inside.”

Wu Dekai’s heart leaped with joy, nodded, and said ”Yes,” rubbed his icy palms together, and shrank his body as he squeezed into Wu Jingyi’s apartment. With a snap, the door closed, blocking the probing and curious gaze of the woman outside.

The female neighbor, who loved to pry into the private affairs of other residents, automatically conjured up a scenario of a poor relative coming to ask for money and shelter. She didn’t consider what the middle-aged man’s relation to Wu Jingyi was, so it wasn’t long before she forgot about it.

Wu Jingyi’s mood was anything but calm; finding out that Wu Dekai was actually her biological father, it felt like the blood in her entire body wanted to run in reverse.

With hatred on her face, she looked at the man in front of her. If she had a knife in her hands at that moment, she might have taken it and chopped at Wu Dekai.

”Since you abandoned me back then, why bother to find me now?” Wu Jingyi scoffed. She hadn’t expected such a melodramatic plot to unfold in her own life.

Wu Dekai did have his little schemes, after all, he came for the money. If he told Wu Jingyi the truth about leaving her at the doorstep of the orphanage back then, Wu Jingyi would surely hate him to death, and how could she possibly give him any money?

”The person who abandoned you wasn’t me. Your mother, after giving birth to you, was looked down upon by the people in the village, and I was already not in the mining area at that time. Out of helplessness, she had no choice but to leave you at the orphanage.”

”In fact, I didn’t know about your existence for all these years, until just a month ago when I learned about it from an old colleague in the mines. It was only after I inquired at your orphanage that I discovered you had come to the Imperial Capital for university,”

Wu Dekai shifted all the blame onto the widow, all to ease Wu Jingyi’s wariness.

Indeed, upon hearing Wu Dekai’s explanation, Wu Jingyi’s expression softened considerably, but she was no fool. She quickly spotted the flaws and sneered,

”At most, the orphanage could only tell you that I came to the Imperial Capital for university. How did you find where I live? The Imperial Capital is so vast; don’t tell me you just happened to stumble upon my place by chance!”

Wu Dekai’s face flushed with embarrassment, and after hesitating for a moment, he took out his phone and said, ”It was a person named Zhang Jun who sent me the information. He said you were studying in the Imperial Capital, and that you had a rich boyfriend. He even sent me your address and told me to come find you.”

Upon hearing this, Wu Jingyi’s face immediately darkened. Zhang Jun had indeed visited where she lived, and it was because of her that he ended up in jail.

Wu Dekai’s words seemed reasonable. Wu Jingyi took his phone and looked at the messages. Although they were sent from a strange number, the tone was very much like Zhang Jun’s style.

Wu Jingyi hadn’t expected Zhang Jun to harbor such a strong vengeful spirit. No, that man was cunning and deliberate in his actions. Maybe even when she approached Zhang Jun to expose ”Miss Magic,” he was already prepared, perhaps had even set up the entire chessboard.

As she schemed against Zhang Jun, he had also factored her into his plans. He discovered her background, recorded their phone conversation, aired her flaunting wealth online, and even brought her biological father to her.

Thinking about this, Wu Jingyi trembled with rage. Clearly, Zhang Jun understood her well and had managed to hit her where it hurt most.

Wu Jingyi was someone with an extremely strong sense of vanity. Now, having her true identity and the fact she’d been kept exposed, and with her biological father showing up – any one of these would be deeply troubling to her.

Reputation damage could perhaps be salvaged by whitewashing, but the blood relation was an undeniable fact. Although a DNA test hadn’t been done, upon the first glance at Wu Dekai, she felt an intense unusual connection. She resisted this feeling, which is why she was so desperate to get rid of Wu Dekai immediately.

But her plan was ruined by the woman opposite her, forcing her to confront the reality. Just as she had schemed against Huo Sining, she was targeted by a poor relative, and this time, it wasn’t her aunt or uncle – it was her biological father.

While Wu Dekai spoke words of feigned affection, his eyes were constantly darting around the room, eyeing the lavish decorations. He even remembered to ask, ”What about your wealthy boyfriend? Why isn’t he here? Is this house yours, or does it belong to him?”

Wu Jingyi saw right through Wu Dekai’s intentions. So-called kinship, blood ties – to these people, they were less significant than a bit of money.

She sneered in her heart, too lazy to beat around the bush with the likes of Wu Dekai. She got straight to the point and said, ”Tell me, how much money do you want? Just name your price, and you can leave the Imperial Capital. Then we’ll never see each other again. We will have no relation to each other, past, present, or future.”

Wu Jingyi didn’t want to waste any more words or become entangled with Wu Dekai. She intended to marry into the Liang Family, and being an orphan might be looked down upon, but at least it wouldn’t cause the Liang Family People to reject her.

Furthermore, if she handled it correctly, she might even gain some sympathy and help from a few Liang Family members.
