Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Chapter 50: Chapter 49: Who Is the Conductor?

Even though his face was much cleaner than in the previous life, Su Huan could recognize this biker guy at a glance.

The broken-down vehicle he modified for him required major repairs twelve times a month and minor repairs thirty-six times.

It was repaired more frequently than his fingernails.

Because of this broken-down vehicle, they had dealings for a year and ended up getting acquainted.

Still, Su Huan confirmed again, ”What’s your name?”

”Huang Sea, you can just call me Old Huang,” the bespectacled man quickly replied.

Su Huan couldn’t help but curl his lips, opened the back door of the car, and said in a harsh tone, ”Get in!”

But the two didn’t mind his tone at all, their faces full of pure gratitude.

Beside him, Lao San was somewhat confused, ”Are these two your friends?”

”Don’t know them.”

Lao San shifted gears, looking more puzzled, ”Then why are you letting them in without even knowing them?”

Su Huan guided him patiently, ”They have six or seven people. If there are only four of us, doesn’t it seem like we’re at a disadvantage?”

”We have guns.”

”But we also need to sleep, right? How can we keep an eye on a few hundred people behind us with just four of us? We saved these two. Plus, they aren’t familiar with the people on the train, so they’ll definitely cling to us. If something happens, they can help us out, right?”

Su Huan managed to say ”us” four times in one breath.

The more Lao San listened, the clearer it became, and he marveled, ”Cultivate confidants, control more people, your idea is brilliant! The Boss always says I have lots of bad ideas, but I think you’re the one full of cunning plans!”

Su Huan’s eye twitched, he opened his mouth, unsure of what to say, and it took him a while to finally say, ”I’ll just take that as a compliment.”

’This fool...’

...

The latter part of the journey was relatively uneventful, although there were some clueless zombies, but the high-explosive incendiary bombs treated every flesh monster fairly.

Su Huan even took the time to bring up a bloodthirsty dog.

In the city, cats and dogs are the most common large animals. Although there are more birds and insects, their mutation rate is very low, which he suspected was because their bodies can’t absorb much of the pervasive energy.

While energy and physical form aren’t directly proportional, to carry more energy, you need a stronger body.

By the time the fire truck drove back next to the train, the sun was already setting.

Three blood-splattered fire trucks quickly drew everyone’s attention, especially the one in front with a road sign embedded in it.

The engines vibrated slightly as the three vehicles drove one after another into the gap of the fence.

To avoid unnecessary trouble, Su Huan jumped off early.

The three brothers and Huang Sea followed closely behind.

Lao San cautiously looked around, and when he saw the train, he trusted Su Huan even more.

The Boss exclaimed in surprise, ”There are quite a lot of people here.”

The returning passengers around, upon seeing the person leading them was Su Huan, immediately moved aside, and those ahead kept looking back, avoiding the path.

Lao Er nudged Lao San carefully with his elbow and whispered, ”Why do these people seem so afraid of Lao Si?”

Lao San rolled his eyes at him and said irritably, ”What nonsense are you talking about, look at what you’re holding, can they not be afraid?”

Walking in front, Su Huan said nothing and just smiled.

They soon saw Yu Jing commanding workers to carry steel plates in the heat. Before she could speak, Su Huan greeted her first, ”The train conductor is back.”

He said it casually.

Yu Jing looked at the smiling Su Huan, feeling somewhat strange, unsure how to respond, so she just ambiguously said ”Hmm.”

This greeting sounded like a statement in Yu Jing’s ears, but to the three brothers, it sounded like a question.

Thus, they received the information.

The train conductor is inside!

Seeing Su Huan so nonchalantly leading them to squeeze into the train.

Lao San was a bit nervous too, quietly pulling on Su Huan’s arm and said urgently, ”Lao Si, are we just going in like this?”

Su Huan rubbed his chin, ”Well, what else?”

”Shouldn’t we have a plan or something?”

”Like what?”

”Like we split up, then after going in, control the train conductor, and then some of us stir up the oppressed passengers, and then we pressure the train conductor and his cronies out...”

Su Huan asked curiously, ”Why do that?”

”To take the moral high ground! You don’t understand because you’re young. If we just kill the train conductor, we’d become the new bandits, wouldn’t we?”

”But if we capture him and publicly reprimand that bastard with you leading the charge, on one hand, you get your revenge and on the other, you win the support of the people. Think about it, isn’t that right?”

Lao San clapped his hands, exuberantly explaining.

Su Huan’s mouth twitched, with a strange expression of forced restraint, ”Actually, we don’t need to go to such lengths, just follow me.”

Seeing Su Huan go up, they reluctantly followed him.

Qi Xiaobai, who was assembling steel plates, tugged at his somewhat tight collar and quietly said, ”Sister Jing, those people seem off, I’m going to check it out.”

Yu Jing nodded.

Xiaoba’s wheelchair levitated and directly boarded the compartment.

...

Inside the compartment.

Seeing Su Huan full of relaxed vibes, the brothers secretly admired him, truly a man who accomplishes great things, remaining calm even in such moments.

As they passed by the sightseeing carriage, the sound of chainsaws cutting through bone rang out.

The few of them paled at the sight of what looked like a slaughterhouse-like workshop.

”Gag...”

Su Huan, quick on his feet, grabbed the biker guy’s tie and pulled it up sharply, forcing the filth he was about to vomit back down.

He didn’t want this guy dirtying his compartment.

Su Huan smiled and explained to them, ”Don’t worry, she’s just another poor soul being coerced.”

The three brothers looked at Wan Xing’s delicate face, then at the meat residue on her gloves and the butcher on the table who was being gutted, and swallowed nervously.

Wan Xing glanced at them curiously, nodded at Su Huan, and then quietly went about her work.

After walking a few steps, the Boss angrily cursed, ”To make a girl do such a thing, this train conductor really lacks morals. If I see him, I’ll shove the gun barrel up his ass and give him a full clip.”

Su Huan’s smile froze a little.

He continued leading them forward into the dining car compartment.

Before them were several tables pushed together, and a sofa with a striking orange tabby blanket.

The cabinet beside it was stocked with canned yellow peaches, the honey-colored glow refracted by the glass jar mingled with the steam rising from a casserole.

Their gaze swept over Yu Yue, who was wearing an apron, and each remembered Su Huan’s description.

Indeed, she was obediently smooth...

Lao San quickly dismissed his odd thoughts, asking loudly, ”Where’s the train conductor? Who is the train conductor?!”

Heavy footsteps sounded from the direction of the train’s head, and a sturdy, imposing figure approached carrying a blood-smeared shield, scrutinizing them with a frown.

Lao San and the others quickly raised their gun muzzles.

The sound of an electric wheelchair came from behind, and a young man’s eyes, distinct in black and white, carried a hint of hostility.

Enclosing them in the dining car, one before and one behind.

Su Huan seemed oblivious to the tense atmosphere, walking to the front.

Carelessly slumped on the sofa, letting the setting sun cast an orange-red glow on his face, much like the lazy orange tabby on the blanket.

Taking the iced drink handed to him by Yu Yue, he propped his face with one hand, squinted his eyes, and repeated Lao San’s question indifferently, ”Yeah, who is the train conductor?”
