Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Chapter 19: Chapter 18: Tier One Zombie

”Increase the speed!” Su Huan’s voice penetrated the darkness with the effect of a tranquilizer.

Liang Kuan’s hand gripped the control lever, veins bulging, as the dashboard’s glow cast light and shadow over his sweat-covered nose.

The train began to bulldoze toward the zombie horde with a violent posture.

The train wheels made a creaking sound, mixed with the boiling corpse howls that permeated the cabin, gnawing at everyone’s nerves.

The zombies blocking the front of the train were like clay, being scooped up and pushed to the ram, then split to either side, blood splashing onto the tempered glass like a torrential downpour.

The horde piled up on both sides of the windows, faces grotesque and terrifying pressed greedily against the glass, staring fixedly at those inside the carriage.

Yu Yue was shivering, clutching her daughter’s arm, too scared to even lift her head.

Wan Xing also bit his lower lip, staring at the front of the train.

Su Huan remained indifferent to the changes around him, doing only one thing: converting the Pan-energy within him into high-voltage electricity to provide new power to the train.

”Bang!”

The train gave a huge jolt, finally picking up speed, as the piled-up zombie hordes on either side suddenly collapsed and were flung backward.

A collective sigh of relief swept through the carriage.

But Su Huan’s expression remained unchanged, his eyes fixed dead ahead on the tracks.

A massive foot stepped onto the rail, excess flesh hanging from its sides and touching the sleepers.

The figure slowly turned, two muscular pecs like granite blocks, beneath a huge belly nearly sagging to the thighs, a height of 2.6 meters making it only slightly shorter than the train’s engine.

The metallic part dragged in its hand, dismantled from construction machinery, clanged as it moved.

Like a small mountain blocking the way, its black and red eyes examined the oncoming speeding train with interest.

No intention of dodging, its mouth nearly grinning to its ears.

The terrifying smile rendered the cockpit silent again.

”What... is that?” Wan Xing asked, voice trembling.

”Tier One Zombie, the Butcher.” Su Huan’s voice bore no emotion, cold and hard like a stone.

”Liang Kuan, ram into it.”

”Understood!”

Liang Kuan gritted his teeth, maximizing the speed.

Su Huan pulled out ten Pan-energy Crystals from his pocket, clutching them tight, a hint of madness flashing in his eyes.

If he remembered correctly, going from Level 1 Pan-energy Transformation to Level 2 required exactly 10 Corpse Pupa level Pan-energy Crystals.

Level 2 Pan-energy Transformation efficiency reached 20%, meaning the energy output instantly doubled!

No matter how powerful, the Butcher was just muscles and bones spawned by Pan-energy.

He refused to believe it today.

An accelerating train nearing 100 kilometers per hour, plus the locomotive’s armor thicker than 30mm, couldn’t possibly fail to crush this damned creature!

The Pan-energy Crystal dissolved in his palm at a speed visible to the naked eye, and he could clearly feel the icy energy streams clinging up his spine, exploding into billions of smaller energy particles at the brainstem.

The dormant genes began to unwind and regroup.

——Forming an evolutionary map unique to the ”Power Supplier.”

Level 1 Pan-energy Transformation ——＞ Level 2 Pan-energy Transformation.

Instantly, Su Huan felt something restricting him shatter, a familiar sense of fluency returning somewhat.

His harsh gaze pierced through the blood-stained glass, colliding with the crimson within the giant zombie’s eye sockets.

The two were unyielding!

The accelerating train trembled once more, speed crazily increased, crushing the zombie horde while roaring toward the Butcher!

The Butcher let out a wild roar, lifting its arm and swinging the metal part down toward the locomotive with a massive crash.

”Boom——”

From a bird’s eye view, the moment the little giant collided with the steel dragon, its iron-gray skin wrapped around muscle and fat compressed like a ball by the locomotive, reaching its limit in mere moments before shattering with a crash, mixing with bone fragments and splattering over the train’s front.

The violent metallic crash made Su Huan briefly disoriented, taking a moment to realize he was still on the train.

And the train underfoot continued to hum forward, the clang-clang sound like the drumbeat of victory.

Light, joyful!

Su Huan couldn’t help but grin to the fullest.

No carbon-based creature could withstand the impact of tens of thousands of tons of steel, any zombie in his path would be crushed by the steel dragon beneath his feet!

...

The passengers in the rear carriages were the first to be awakened.

Since the steel plates were only installed up to the tenth carriage, they enjoyed the zombie wake-up service against the windows.

Their green carriages were banged upon loudly by zombies.

It wasn’t until the train accelerated, shaking off these ordinary zombies, that the passengers recovered from their despair, one by one kneeling to praise the Lord, praise all the gods in the sky, while cursing the conductor with the most venomous insults.

As for the train’s narrow escape with the Butcher, to these passengers, it was merely a trivial jolt.

Layer upon layer of transmission to the rear carriages had less impact than the initial roar of thousands of zombies.

The carriage was pitch black, with various clattering sounds merging into one.

The tattooed thug crouched on a seat, spewing curses, ”That damn Su, he just welded the steel plates to the tenth carriage and left the rest. ”

”Only caring about themselves, never minding if we live or die, taking such big risks every day to collect supplies for him, while he’s in the air-conditioned carriage eating delicacies and playing with women, treating us like dogs, I really... ”

”Slit——”

A sharp sound was buried in a tremor.

A sharp claw silently pierced from the side, through the ribcage, directly stabbing through the heart.

The thug’s eyes widened, mouth agape, blood flowing uncontrollably.

Across from him, Brother Dog’s face was grim, unaware that the thug opposite him was already dead.

Thinking his opponent was just out of breath and preparing to take a break.

...

The train sped low-key through the night at 70 kilometers per hour.

On the black iron-colored steel plates were large splotches of crimson blood, occasionally littered with zombie limbs carelessly left behind, caught in the explosion-proof net or on the steel crash bars.

Yet this only added a touch of iron-blooded aura to the armed train, like a steel man just off the battlefield.

Inside the carriage, Su Huan’s calm voice rang out.

”Liang Kuan, check all train functions; Yu Yue, check every detail of the locomotive, whether the explosion-proof net is damaged, or the tempered glass is broken.”

”Yu Jing, check the dining car; Wan Xing, check the observation carriage and take a look at the second level to see if there’s anything on the roof.”

Originally it was said to be a bunch of Corpse Pupa, but there was only a Butcher blocking the front just now.

Maybe there were other Tier One Zombies following behind.

Apart from the Butcher’s power type, zombies had many evolutionary paths, including those able to catch up with the train.

Su Huan casually picked up a phone from the dining car rack.

Loading a bit of power to the boot screen, using its faint light to carefully check every corner of the carriage.

Even though in his memory, there seemed to be no zombies capable of penetrating 12mm steel plates.

But caution had become a habit.
