Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Chapter 49: Chapter 48: Armor-Piercing Rounds Don’t Believe in Carbon-Based Monsters

The crisp sound of a trigger pulled, and three burst shots directly hit the bloodhound that was running the fastest.

”Bang! Bang! Bang!”

The three high-explosive incendiary rounds bit into the bloodhound’s exposed muscles, and the air seemed to freeze for a moment.

Until the bullets exploded instantly, tearing the crimson flesh into a mist of blood, the incendiary agent burning fiercely along the muscle fibers.

The bloodhound stumbled forward as if drunk, its front limb slammed heavily into the ground and collided with a car door.

”Bang—crash!”

The charred claws, black as hooks, dug into the softened asphalt, while the still-burning flames flowed along the cracks.

The sound of shell casings hitting the ground made Su Huan’s blood boil instantaneously.

His eyes shone with a gripping intensity.

Even Lao San, driving beside him, was astonished by the effect, ”Damn! This stuff is fierce?! Three shots and it’s down?!”

Su Huan couldn’t help but grin widely; if he had such weapons in his previous life, how could he have let those damned beasts drive him to despair?!

No matter how strong a Tier One Zombie is, it’s just carbon-based flesh. Even a Tier Two Zombie with evolved armor would flee in the face of human heavy firepower!

Armor-piercing rounds have never succumbed to carbon-based monsters!

Su Huan stuffed a Tier One Pan-energy Crystal into his mouth, channeling the continuous flow of energy into the firefighting truck and shouted wildly, ”Accelerate, accelerate!”

Lao San slammed down the gas pedal. It might have been an illusion, but it felt like the vehicle had more power.

Like a raging bull, it roared forward.

Sleek cars and SUVs became mere toys, scattered into pieces.

Su Huan targeted the next bloodhound, firing another crisp three-round burst.

This time, he didn’t hit the right spot, and the bloodhound didn’t die immediately. Instead, it crashed into the firefighting truck wailing, its shattered wound resembling a squashed tomato, adding to the truck’s red paint.

Before it could struggle, the truck wheels ran over it. The vehicle vibrated violently, and the sound of bones breaking was as grating as popping bubble wrap.

”Lao Si, hurry, shoot that big one in front!”

Lao San leaned forward, gripping the steering wheel tightly with his knuckles turning white and shouted to the Butcher ahead.

”Got it!”

Su Huan switched the firing mode to full automatic, half his body leaning out the window. He aimed the gun at the Butcher wielding a signpost, pressing the gun down with one hand and pulling the trigger with the other.

In an instant, the staccato gunfire merged into a continuous burst.

A fiery tongue flared from the gun muzzle, licking at the Butcher’s massive belly.

The high-explosive rounds tore through its gut, releasing a brilliant yellow-orange mist of blood, igniting the Butcher’s enormous belly with more than thirty incendiary bullets.

It even forcibly halted his advance.

A howl laced with fury echoed from the flames, as Su Huan ducked away from an oncoming bloodhound and quickly went to reload.

Though he’d already taken down two Butchers since the apocalypse, it was thanks to the terrifying mass and momentum of an armed train.

It didn’t mean these creatures were weak.

Among the numerous Tier One Zombies, although the Butcher reacted the slowest, its defense was unbeatable!

A huge vehicle couldn’t even kill this beast!

”Lao Si, it’s not dead, it’s not dead, that thing’s not dead!”

”Quit yelling, I fucking know!”

Su Huan was sweating, knowing that if the Butcher got close, they’d be in big trouble.

He frantically absorbed energy from the Pan-energy Crystal while rapidly reloading with both hands.

”Lao Si, it’s coming, it’s going to smash us, my god!”

”I know!!!”

Having loaded thirty-plus bullets, Su Huan realized there wasn’t enough time. He slammed in the magazine, turned abruptly, his pupils contracting sharply, ”Damn it!”

”Boom——”

A signpost crashed directly into the firefighting truck’s front.

Luckily, the truck’s glass was double-layered. Even with such a massive hole being punched through, the glass didn’t shatter everywhere, just creating a giant radial hole before them.

”Ratatatat!”

At the critical moment, a burst of dense gunfire erupted from behind.

Immediately, the Butcher was engulfed in flames again, staggering backward.

Su Huan thrust his gun out through the glass hole, unloading another burst at the Butcher, shouting wildly, ”Even Lao Er is giving it his all, damn it, floor it!”

Lao San’s face flushed, veins bulging in his neck, stomped the accelerator, ”As if I don’t know to hit the gas!”

The tires screeched on the sticky asphalt, roaring forward.

Watching the Butcher fall behind, Lao San banged the steering wheel, ”Sweet!”

Both men let out a wild whoop, simultaneously loosening their collars to let the sweat on their chests evaporate and disperse.

Su Huan wiped his damp hair and couldn’t help but laugh heartily.

Though these three brothers might be a bit foolish, being with them felt like returning to his past life.

No plans, no goals, just being chased by zombies, running helter-skelter with a few unreliable teammates, like a cluster of fireworks crashing wildly.

Fiercely and hysterically burning with life.

With the Butcher no longer blocking, the road ahead was much easier. With Su Huan boosting the engine, no car could block their path, even Boss and Lao Er sped up to sixty following behind.

When evolution beasts or zombies foolishly appeared, Su Huan took them down with a burst.

Encounter a zombie horde? Another burst would open a path.

The fully-loaded firefighting truck rolled over everything brutally.

The return journey wasn’t much slower than when they came.

From both sides, people on the buildings naturally noticed the aggressive convoy and shouted for help, but with his goal achieved, Su Huan couldn’t be bothered with them.

Lao San was in a state of heightened excitement, oblivious to everything, Su Huan had to shout even from the seat next to him.

...

Su Huan rested casually against the car door with one hand holding the gun, his gaze sweeping the buildings on both sides.

Ready to fire at any moment at any jumping zombies.

Suddenly, two figures rushed out of a corner.

Just about to raise his gun, Su Huan froze for a moment and exclaimed, ”Bikers?”

”Stop!”

”What?!”

Lao San’s face was tomato red, knuckles blue from gripping the steering wheel.

”I said stop!” Su Huan shouted angrily.

Without a second thought, Lao San slammed on the brakes. The life-and-death crisis they had just faced was enough for the two men to build trust.

One could say this friendship was rough, but you couldn’t doubt its sincerity!

...

Huang Sea was lucky to escape from the Butcher’s grasp, hesitating before deciding to head out.

Although there was food and drink in the supermarket, the door had been damaged, and no one knew what terrifying things might come in next.

So, after discussing with the young man, they slipped away.

Fortunately, the supermarket zombies had been lured away by that motorbike, leaving behind a floor of blood and remains.

In the distance, the howls of zombies and gunshots could be heard.

As the two felt terrified and lost, they suddenly saw three bright firefighting trucks heading their way.

The feeling was like spotting Noah’s Ark amidst a flood.

Seeing the trucks stop, the two were overjoyed and hurriedly ran over to pound on the doors.

Su Huan took a closer look, the leader was a man in his thirties, wearing small glasses and a light gray suit, though long neglect left the cuffs dirty and wrinkled. When he smiled, the typical sleaziness of a scholar shone through.

The man in the little glasses fished a large pack of cigarettes from his pocket and tossed it onto the passenger seat.

Crying and laughing, he pleaded, ”Please, kind sirs, let me on the truck, please let me on...”
