Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Chapter 35: Chapter 34: Integrated Water Purifier

”Adrenaline goes without saying, it’s life-saving, but the last one is a little device I made myself.”

Su Huan picked up a cylinder and bit it in his mouth, mumbling, ”Don’t expect this thing to save your life. When it comes down to it, just bite it like this, and press once.”

”Beep beep”

A sound was heard.

Yu Jing’s face changed slightly.

Su Huan took it out of his mouth and tossed it out the window.

A muffled ”bang” was heard.

Spreading his hands with a smile, he said to the others, ”Guaranteed to let you go quickly.”

”But after all, it’s handmade, not necessarily stable. If you’re unlucky and it half-kills you, pay more attention in the next life.”

Everyone was used to Su Huan’s playful attitude toward life and death.

But it was still a bit hard to keep straight faces.

After explaining, seeing that no one objected, Su Huan waved his hand.

”Move out.”

The doors of the front and rear cars opened, and Wang He quickly followed Su Huan with the group.

For the first outing after the apocalypse, Su Huan was extremely vigilant, using no lighting equipment, relying entirely on his rich survival experience to move in the suburbs.

Liang Kuan carried his sniper crossbow, guarding on the sides, while Yu Yue carefully followed Su Huan.

From time to time, they had to stop and listen for a while.

”Watch where I step, don’t step on those weeds.”

Su Huan, standing at the front, whispered a reminder.

Yu Yue nodded, then tugged Su Huan’s clothes and pointed to the left front, ”There’s breathing over there.”

Su Huan’s pupils suddenly turned fierce, he loaded his gun and gave Liang Kuan behind him a signal.

The latter advanced cautiously, and soon a clicking sound of a trigger being pulled was heard.

Su Huan followed and saw it was a Terrab Claw Cat with half its body missing, already in a severely injured and dying state, then Liang Kuan dispatched it directly with a crossbow bolt.

This cat, like the Bloodhound, belonged to Tier One Evolution Beasts, its whole body lean and hairless, with only four claws evolved to a terrifying degree, like sickles.

After passing through this wild area, everyone stepped onto the cement ground, which was much cleaner.

Cars had been pushed to the sides, and a large number of zombies were lying on the ground.

Terrifying claw marks on the lampposts, missing corners of walls, dark red bloodstains on the ground...

Everywhere were traces of past battles.

Fortunately, it was too dark for the workers in the back to see clearly, sparing them from this anxiety.

The road to the water plant was smooth, with no setbacks.

Looking at the wall in front, Su Huan turned sideways to Yu Yue and asked, ”Listen to what’s inside?”

Yu Yue’s eyes slightly lost focus, immersing in the sounds, thanks to Su Huan’s prior calming, she was not as fearful of these sounds.

A moment later, she replied, ”There are about sixty sound sources, mostly concentrated in the building, there’s the sound of water splashing in the water tower, and friction sounds in the gatehouse to the left of the entrance.”

Su Huan couldn’t help but smile. In his previous life, he didn’t have fixed teammates.

Having a perception-type Evolver could avoid many dangers.

He didn’t enter directly from the main entrance but circled around, finding a large gap on the side as if a truck had crashed through, the cement ground all wet with water stains.

Stepping on it made slapping sounds.

The group quickly advanced further into the water plant.

”Something’s swimming over, ten meters to the right front!”

Yu Yue’s face turned pale, with a slight tremor in her voice.

”Hmm.”

Su Huan responded calmly, paused for two seconds, and a compressed cold blue arc appeared at his feet, flashing directly in the direction Yu Yue pointed using the water flow on the ground.

In the flash of electricity, everyone also saw the thing clearly.

About one meter in diameter, over half a meter high, raising two large pincers, charging towards the group at a high speed.

It was a river crab.

But no matter how fast it was, it wasn’t faster than Su Huan’s high-voltage electricity. In an instant, it was paralyzed by the electric current, flipping over.

Twenty percent energy output, coupled with energy compression, was basically an instant kill.

Su Huan, still unsure, went up and hit it with three successive high-temperature rounds.

Only stopped when the fresh scent was detectable.

The Power Supplier’s combat style was this straightforward, using huge energy to knock you down, and if not enough, just add more.

Before everyone could react, the river crab had already been dealt with, and they continued forward.

Things were much easier after that, with Yu Yue’s presence, they avoided what they could, and if not, Su Huan would step up to whip up a quick river delicacy, at high speed.

Then they found a small red forklift in the yard, with its lifting arm and all.

After groping in the dark for twenty minutes, they finally found the location of the small integrated water purifier.

Su Huan took a deep breath, suppressing the joy in his heart, pointing at the purifier, ”Wang He, disassemble it for me within twenty minutes, and I’ll give you a permanent ticket, as long as your construction team stays on the train for a day, I’ll provide you with purified water.”

The man’s eyes flashed with a hint of hesitation, ”Boss Su, it’s easy to disassemble, but hard to transport.”

Su Huan’s voice was cold and fierce, ”There’s a vehicle in the yard, no matter how you do it, the thing must be carried back.”

Wang He gritted his teeth and agreed, taking twenty workers to start the work.

Liang Kuan came over in big strides, whispering, ”Found quite a bit of diesel and gasoline in the house next door.”

Su Huan’s eyes lit up, currently, the main power and energy for the armed train still came from diesel.

His ability merely served as an auxiliary drive.

To truly drive the train, you at least need to become a Tier One professional ”Energy Storage Core.”

”Let’s go, we’ll haul it all back, Yu Yue, you follow!”

Having said that, Su Huan headed for the next building.

Opening the door, he indeed saw more than a dozen oil barrels arranged in the room.

The two split the work, Liang Kuan dragged out the barrels, while Su Huan went to get a vehicle.

Unlike a train, ordinary cars aren’t as restricted, he could bypass the key step and supply power directly to the car’s circuit to ignite the engine.

In a short while, he drove up a pickup truck.

Yu Yue kept watch nearby, and the two quickly loaded the goods.

Su Huan, having evolved once, possessed a high basic physical quality, Liang Kuan was entirely brute strength, even stronger than him.

The 55-gallon barrels, 58×88, allowed them to load eight of them.

They could fit a few more, but the truck couldn’t pull them.

For safety’s sake, they left the rest.

After bustling about for more than twenty minutes, Wang He reported good news, the purifier had been dismantled.

Using a forklift along with two cars to tow it simultaneously.

Seeing the main objective achieved, Su Huan no longer greedily searched for remaining resources, leading the group to march out directly.

During this, two more Evolution Beasts were attracted, but they were aquatic and were completely countered by him.

Su Huan even had the workers load that river crab onto the car.

The group moved out with caution, escaping with speed.

Except for those who must drive, the rest, including Su Huan, jogged behind the vehicles.

The forklift occasionally had to stop to clear road-blocking debris.
