Urban Martial Saint

The Netherworld Scholar walked out of the police station and stood directly in the alley across the street. He wanted to personally witness the moment when the bomb exploded and Ye Qing was blown to pieces.

However, after waiting there for nearly two minutes, the anticipated explosion never occurred. There wasn’t even the slightest sign of chaos inside the police station, as if the bomb didn’t exist at all.

This situation left the Netherworld Scholar quite surprised. He carefully recalled the earlier events. No mistake, the fuse was indeed lit. So why didn’t the bomb explode? If someone had discovered it halfway and cut the fuse, the police station should be in chaos right now. Could it be that the fuse had a problem and failed to detonate the bomb?

If that’s truly the case, it would be the most unacceptable outcome. Everything was ready, but at the last moment, when the explosives were supposed to be used, it turned out that there was a problem with the fuse, ruining all the previous plans. Nobody could accept that, right?

The Netherworld Scholar felt just like this; he was quite upset. After finally seizing this opportunity to kill Ye Qing, if it really was the fuse’s problem that led to Ye Qing not being killed, he might go mad.

Suppressing his resentment towards the person who sold him the explosives, the Netherworld Scholar took a deep breath and had no choice but to return to the police station. This opportunity was truly rare for him, and no matter what, he had to kill Ye Qing this time. So, even if the fuse was really the problem, he had to think of another way to detonate the bomb again.

Inside the police station, everything was still the same as before, with no unusual happenings. When the Netherworld Scholar walked in, nobody gave him a second glance. Everyone was busy with their own tasks because they recognized that the Netherworld Scholar was the person who came to file a report earlier. Everyone still thought he was reporting a case, so they didn’t pay much attention to him.

The Netherworld Scholar easily walked into the interrogation room. The young policeman from earlier was still unconscious on the ground. Due to the shortage of staff in the station, no one had discovered the situation here yet.

The Netherworld Scholar breathed a sigh of relief and carefully examined the backpack, only to find that the fuse had already burnt out. However, the explosives inside the backpack still hadn’t detonated. It seemed that the fuse indeed had an issue, preventing the explosives from going off.

”Damn it, even selling explosives, they cut corners. Once things here are settled, I’ll definitely butcher those bastards!” the Netherworld Scholar cursed quietly in his heart, sneaking over, opening the backpack, and preparing to find another way to detonate this bomb.

When he opened the backpack and took a first glance, he was stunned. The explosives inside the backpack were still intact there. However, the fuse inside was clearly severed into two pieces, with obvious tear marks. This meant that the fuse didn’t fail to detonate due to poor quality, but was deliberately broken by someone.

A moment later, the Netherworld Scholar’s expression changed. He suddenly realized returning to the police station might be a huge mistake. The fuse was manually cut, meaning someone discovered the plot. But everything was left as it was, meaning someone deliberately lured him back in.

The Netherworld Scholar didn’t need to think to know who did it. So, he immediately stood up and turned to flee.

However, as soon as he stood up, the door to the interrogation room suddenly opened, and someone rushed out from inside, raising a fist to strike him.

The Netherworld Scholar dared not engage, hurriedly stepping back to avoid the punch, finally seeing that the person was none other than Ye Qing.

”Ye, you’re so insidious!” the Netherworld Scholar shouted angrily, not daring to linger in the fight, turning to run out hastily.

In fact, when the Netherworld Scholar came over earlier, Ye Qing had not noticed him. But when the fuse was ignited, Ye Qing smelled gunpowder in the interrogation room, immediately sensing something was wrong. Ye Qing promptly cut the door lock of the interrogation room with the Seven-Star Ancient Sword, stepped out but the Netherworld Scholar had already left the police station.

Ye Qing didn’t know how to pursue the Netherworld Scholar, so he first cut the fuse, preventing the bomb from exploding. He didn’t bother with the situation outside, just hiding in the interrogation room, waiting for the Netherworld Scholar to return.

As expected, the Netherworld Scholar actually came back to check why the bomb hadn’t exploded. When he reached the vicinity, Ye Qing saw him through the crack in the door and seized the opportunity to act.

Seeing the Netherworld Scholar, Ye Qing was quite surprised. He always thought Wang Tian’an was plotting against him, suspecting the person might be Chen Yongchang. Unexpectedly, it was the long-missing Netherworld Scholar who showed up.

The feud between Ye Qing and the Netherworld Scholar was quite deep, especially after the Netherworld Scholar escaped from the Xihang Shen Family Manor last time. The Netherworld Scholar had essentially become a public enemy. Members of Sha Men wanted him dead, people from Shen Family Manor saw him as an enemy, and Ye Qing also regarded him as a foe. Even Wang Tian’an’s people didn’t trust him. In that situation, Ye Qing thought the Netherworld Scholar would hide and never appear again. Unexpectedly, the Netherworld Scholar was so bold, not only daring to show up but also making a move on him, which was truly unexpected to Ye Qing.

”Netherworld Scholar, you have some nerve!” Ye Qing shouted coldly, grabbing the Seven-Star Ancient Sword, and chased after him. To deal with Ye Qing, the Netherworld Scholar even killed nine innocent people. For someone like that, Ye Qing had made up his mind to kill him.

The two ran into the main hall, and it was only then that the police noticed something was wrong. Seeing the Netherworld Scholar running out, the nearest policeman immediately walked over and pointed at the Netherworld Scholar, ”What are you doing, you...”

Before he could finish his words, the Netherworld Scholar quickly dashed past him. The policeman clutched his neck as blood spurted through his fingers and collapsed on the ground, his throat slit by the Netherworld Scholar as he passed.

Upon seeing this, Ye Qing’s expression turned colder, and he said sternly, ”Netherworld Scholar, he had no grievances with you. Why did you kill him?”

”One word, because I felt like it!” the Netherworld Scholar shouted without turning his head, rushing out of the police station.

Grinding his teeth, Ye Qing chased after him, determined to capture the Netherworld Scholar this time.

The remaining police officers in the station couldn’t stop the two, could only watch as they ran out, then called for backup. But it was already too late at that point; the Netherworld Scholar and Ye Qing had already fled the police station. No matter who they called, they couldn’t catch up to them.

The Netherworld Scholar was well aware of the power gap between him and Ye Qing. Facing Ye Qing, he had no intention of lingering in a fight, sprinting away for his life. Fortunately, at this time of night, and with the police station located in a relatively remote area, not many people were around. The two of them, one chasing the other, ran for over half an hour until they reached the outskirts.

The Netherworld Scholar was purely running for his life, while Ye Qing was determined to kill him. All along the chase, his goal was to kill him once and for all. Compared to Ye Qing, the Netherworld Scholar’s strength was clearly lacking, and he was losing steam. After running for a bit, his speed began to slow down.

Meanwhile, Ye Qing only seemed to grow faster. During his time in the military, he often ran long distances like this. Now, with his Inner Strength abundant and his stamina well-preserved, running almost seemed easy. It was only a matter of time before he caught up with the Netherworld Scholar.

Seeing Ye Qing approaching, the Netherworld Scholar was increasingly worried. He knew that once caught by Ye Qing, he would be done for. However, no matter what he did, he couldn’t shake off Ye Qing, making escape seem impossible.

After running for a while and getting completely exhausted, the Netherworld Scholar suddenly turned and dashed into a nearby thicket, appearing to want to take another route to escape.

Of course, Ye Qing wouldn’t give up, following closely into the thicket. The two ran along the mountain path, covering another three to four miles. Seeing the distance between him and the Netherworld Scholar closing in, they suddenly reached a structure resembling a water tower up ahead. There were plenty of fields around, likely built by villagers long ago, but it seemed to have been abandoned for years, with its rundown walls on the verge of collapse.

Seeing the water tower, the Netherworld Scholar seemed to gain a sudden burst of energy, running towards it while letting out loud whistles as if signaling something.

Observing this, Ye Qing furrowed his brows. Could it be that the Netherworld Scholar was heading here because there’s an ambush?

Nevertheless, Ye Qing wasn’t particularly worried. Wielding the Seven-Star Ancient Sword, he could rival even experts like Cui Yulong. Even if there was an ambush, even if he couldn’t defeat them, they wouldn’t be able to capture him!

So, Ye Qing had no intention of retreating, only slightly slowing down and becoming more vigilant, prepared for a sudden assault from the surrounding area.

The Netherworld Scholar didn’t slow down at all, racing to the base of the water tower, still whistling and banging on it. This further confirmed Ye Qing’s suspicion that there was indeed an ambush.

However, Ye Qing didn’t continue to press forward but stationed himself ten meters from the water tower, closely watching it. He wanted to see who exactly was lurking within.

The Netherworld Scholar knocked a few times, but seeing no response from the water tower, he couldn’t help but curse loudly, ”You bald bastard, if you don’t come out now, your little master here is doomed! Do you still want that beauty painting of yours?”
