Urban Martial Saint

This time, there was still no change in Ye Qing’s expression, but Lin Haoqi across from him turned beet-red. Ye Qing’s drinking capacity was just too fierce!

After finishing the second glass, Ye Qing didn’t pause at all, picked up the third glass directly, and said with a smile: ”Haoqi, the next three glasses are in your honor. Down they go!”

The third glass, just like the previous ones, he downed in one gulp. This time, Ye Qing’s expression still didn’t change, yet everyone in the room had their mouths wide open, almost enough to fit an egg in.

Three glasses, about a pound of liquor, and Ye Qing drank it all in less than three minutes. This drinking capacity was just too ruthless! Drinking alcohol isn’t like drinking plain water; who drinks like this and is still fine?

Actually, people didn’t know that Ye Qing had a naturally high alcohol tolerance and could easily drink three pounds normally. After he practiced the Breathing Method in Shenchuan City, developing Inner Strength, his capacity increased significantly. Later in Xi Hang, he consumed many Ziyu Chenxiang Pills, which concentrated the medicinal properties in his blood, allowing rapid alcohol breakdown. Honestly, drinking is now akin to drinking water for Ye Qing, meaning no matter how much he drinks, he won’t get drunk, just full.

The fourth glass, Ye Qing downed again just as easily, causing everyone in the room to exclaim in shock. Gao Shibao, seated next to Ye Qing, was so excited he gestured wildly, never having imagined Ye Qing’s alcohol tolerance would be this terrifying. It seemed Lin Haoqi was indeed going to make a fool of himself this time.

Lin Haoqi looked utterly despondent. Now he regretted agreeing to drink with Ye Qing. He was in a bind now. It was clear Ye Qing could finish all five glasses, but he himself couldn’t handle the four.

Picking up the fifth glass, Ye Qing smiled mildly at Lin Haoqi and said, ”Haoqi, once I finish this glass, my three glasses for you are done. The rest will be yours!”

He calmly drank the last glass, and after seeing this, Gao Shibao simply started applauding, excitedly exclaiming, ”Awesome! What an incredible drinker you are, Ye Zi!”

Ye Qing smiled faintly without responding to Gao Shibao, pointing the empty glass at Lin Haoqi, and said with a smile, ”Haoqi, your turn!”

Now with five glasses down, Ye Qing’s face was only slightly red, and his speech and movements showed no significant change, shocking everyone speechless, including Lin Haoqi.

Staring blankly at the five glasses in front of him, Lin Haoqi took quite a while to regain his senses. He scratched his head, wanting to say something, but didn’t know how to refuse these four glasses.

”This is barbaric!” Ding Yue suddenly stood up and pushed the glasses away, declaring, ”Who drinks like this? With such big glasses, are you trying to kill someone? Ye Qing, if you want to drink, do it yourself. My Haoqi won’t join in!”

”How can you be like this?” Gao Shibao immediately flared up, saying, ”When Ye Zi asked before, he agreed to drink. Now that Ye Zi has finished, he won’t drink? Isn’t this ridiculous? What, does his word not count?”

”Haoqi indeed said he’d drink, but who does so in this crude manner?” Ding Yue retorted with wide eyes, ”Have you ever seen anyone use such big glasses to drink? It’s too uncivilized, too improper!”

”Whether it’s crude or not isn’t the point; the point is I drank.” Ye Qing smiled faintly at Lin Haoqi and said, ”Haoqi, now, it’s your turn!”

Lin Haoqi opened his mouth, but no words came out. Beside him, Ding Yue flatly slammed a glass down and angrily stood up, saying, ”Ye Qing, what are you trying to do? Tonight is Zhou Yong’s engagement party. You came late without a gift, and now you’re targeting my Haoqi, what’s the deal with that?”

Ye Qing smiled subtly, ignoring Ding Yue, and calmly said to Lin Haoqi, ”Haoqi, is it the women in your Lin family who call the shots?”

Although Ye Qing didn’t directly criticize Ding Yue, the sarcasm in his words was quite obvious.

Ding Yue furrowed her brows tightly and said angrily, ”It doesn’t matter who calls the shots; my Haoqi is a civilized person and can’t drink in your crude manner. Ye Qing, drink with whoever you want; my Haoqi isn’t drinking.”

Seeing the situation getting out of hand, Zhou Yong quickly stood up, smiling, ”Alright, alright, we’re all old classmates, why the tension? Ye Qing, your way of drinking is indeed too fierce, not really suitable. How about this, Haoqi drinks a glass just to show goodwill, okay?”

Ye Qing calmly looked at Zhou Yong and said, ”Why didn’t you suggest I drink just one for goodwill earlier? Now that five are down, you talk about goodwill? What’s the point? Does that mean my drinking was for nothing?”

Since meeting Ye Qing in the afternoon, Zhou Yong thought Ye Qing was still the same pushover from school, easily bullied. Unexpectedly, Ye Qing was so insistent now, which made Zhou Yong quite embarrassed. He frowned slightly and said, ”Ye Qing, tonight is my engagement dinner, we’re all old classmates, why push this hard? Drinking is meant to be savored slowly, not like this. Come on, don’t insist, consider it doing me a favor.”

”I can save face for you...” Ye Qing smiled faintly at Lin Haoqi, and said, ”Drinking like this is indeed a bit intense. If Haoqi can’t drink, he just needs to say he can’t drink, and then he won’t have to drink a single glass. How about that?”

Lin Haoqi frowned, if he said that, wouldn’t it be equivalent to admitting defeat and bowing down to Ye Qing?

”Oh come on, we’re all old classmates, why be so petty?” Zhou Yong laughed on the side, trying to help Lin Haoqi save some face.

”Zhou Yong, the main person hasn’t even said a word, and you’ve already finished speaking. Isn’t that a bit inappropriate?” Ye Qing smiled faintly, and said, ”Haoqi definitely knows better than you if he can drink or not. He didn’t say he can’t drink, so why are you in such a hurry? Wouldn’t you say that’s right?”

”Right, Zhou Yong, you should let Haoqi speak for himself.” Gao Shibao laughed and agreed on the side, ”Maybe Haoqi actually wants to drink, are you stopping him because you’re afraid he’ll drink your alcohol?”

With Ye Qing and Gao Shibao saying this, Zhou Yong certainly couldn’t say anything more, and could only helplessly look at Lin Haoqi.

Lin Haoqi felt extremely awkward now, if he admitted he couldn’t drink, that would be like bowing down to Ye Qing. If he didn’t admit it, then he’d have to drink. But, drinking these four glasses would knock him out!

At this moment, should he save face and grit his teeth to drink, or should he not care about face? This was really a dilemma.

”Haoqi, can you drink or not, just say one word!” Ye Qing smiled faintly, and said, ”Everyone is waiting, the banquet needs to continue. You see, if you can’t drink, just tell me, we’re all old classmates, it’s no big deal!”

Seeing the troubled look on Lin Haoqi’s face, Ding Yue couldn’t hold it anymore, and angrily said, ”Who do you think you are, why should my Haoqi drink with you!”

Ye Qing didn’t say anything, the faint smile on his lips slowly turned into a smirk, and he calmly looked at Lin Haoqi, saying, ”Haoqi, just say something, don’t rely on women for everything. Over time, how is that any different from being a kept man?”

”What the hell did you just say!” Lin Haoqi slammed the table and stood up, angrily saying, ”Who are you calling a kept man? ****, do I really need to be a kept man?”

Lin Haoqi didn’t want to drink, and now that Ye Qing said this, he immediately seized the opportunity to cause a scene, planning to use turning hostile as a way to avoid the issue. For him, falling out with Ye Qing wasn’t a big deal. If it meant he could avoid drinking, that would certainly be better.

Seeing Lin Haoqi explode, most people in the room didn’t dare to speak, even Zhou Yong stepped back a little, as if it wasn’t his concern. However, he sneaked a reproachful glance at Ye Qing, thinking this was all due to Ye Qing’s aggressive behavior that angered Lin Haoqi, and Ye Qing had only himself to blame.

Gao Shibao was also very afraid of Lin Haoqi, but, for Ye Qing’s sake, he still gritted his teeth and whispered, ”Haoqi, we’re all classmates, let’s talk things over nicely, you…”

”Shut up!” Lin Haoqi pointed at Gao Shibao, saying, ”When is it your turn to speak here? What, you trying to back him up or something?”

Gao Shibao was extremely embarrassed, standing there with a flushed face, not knowing what to say.

Ye Qing’s eyes flashed with a cold glint, and in a cold voice, he said, ”Haoqi, tonight is Zhou Yong’s engagement banquet, acting like this is quite disrespectful to the host, isn’t it?”

”Zhou Yong is my good friend, of course, I won’t disrespect him. But, who do you think you are, do I need to respect you?” Lin Haoqi said, grabbing a wine glass from the table and throwing it aside, ”And you want to toast me? Have you even checked if you’re qualified? I’m not drinking this!”

Ding Yue was even more straightforward, turning her head to Zhou Yong, and said, ”Zhou Yong, why did you invite this kind of person here? Look at what kind of people these are, how rude, messing up the whole banquet, really thinks just because they aren’t picking out of the trash, they can show-off like others? Hmph, farmers are farmers, they can never change these rude customs. Zhou Yong, you should have just kicked him out right away.”

Zhou Yong was very embarrassed, what Ding Yue said was like putting the issue on him. He either had to kick Ye Qing out, or he would have to embarrass Lin Haoqi. Of course, he leaned towards the former, but kicking Ye Qing out at this point would also be quite shameful.

”Oh, let’s just drop it, we’re all classmates, why make things so stiff?” A classmate stood up as the peacemaker, saying, ”Everybody say a few fewer words, tonight is mainly about Zhou Yong, let’s just pretend none of this ever happened!”

”Yes, yes, the main thing is Zhou Yong and Yang Yueru, come on, let’s toast to the newlyweds!” Several others also came forward to change the topic.
