Urban Martial Saint

Forcing Lin Haoqi to finish these four glasses of wine, Ye Qing finally put down his glass, looked at Lin Haoqi, and said, ”Lin Haoqi, do you know why you had to drink these four glasses tonight?”

Lin Haoqi steadied himself by holding onto the table. Hearing Ye Qing’s words, he shook his head in confusion. At this moment, he was too muddled to think clearly.

”Originally, we all came to attend Zhou Yong’s engagement party. It’s a happy occasion; a class reunion is certainly a good thing. But Ding Yue just had to hold onto me, insisting on making me and Shibo lose face in front of our classmates. Since you made it so we couldn’t step down gracefully, do you think I would let you feel comfortable about it?” Ye Qing glanced at Ding Yue and said, ”Actually, we are all classmates. Why do you have to humiliate me? What good does it do you if I lose face?”

”I...” Ding Yue opened her mouth but ultimately couldn’t say anything. The truth is, she did cause this mess. If it wasn’t for her deliberate intention to humiliate Ye Qing in front of everyone, tonight’s incident wouldn’t have happened. But things escalated to this point, causing her husband to drink like this, and she regretted it immensely.

Lin Haoqi angrily glared at Ding Yue. He now realized that this whole incident was stirred up by Ding Yue, and his heart was filled with extreme hatred toward her.

”That’s why they say, having a wise wife at home means a man won’t encounter unexpected troubles!” Ye Qing patted Lin Haoqi on the shoulder and said, ”Now that you’ve drunk these four glasses, if you see me as a classmate, then I’ll see you as a classmate. If you regard me as a stranger, I won’t bother you either. But if you see me as an enemy, I’m always ready for you to come find me for revenge!”

Lin Haoqi said nothing. No one knew what he was thinking. Ye Qing didn’t linger there. He walked over to the tall classmate on the ground, helped him up, fixed his broken finger bones, and then sat him down by the table before returning to his own seat.

”Zhou Yong, about tonight, I’m sorry.” Ye Qing apologized to Zhou Yong, ”During my four years in college, to be honest, the only person who truly helped me the most was Shibo. For tonight’s incident, I can lose face, but I can’t let Shibo lose face for me. So, these four glasses of wine had to be drunk. If you think I messed up your engagement party, I apologize here. If you think I’m not worth socializing with, just say the word, and I’ll leave. But if you think I can still sit here, then as classmates, let’s eat and drink as we should!”

As Ye Qing spoke, he glanced at everyone, but no one dared to meet his gaze. Ye Qing’s move earlier had really scared them all.

Zhou Yong initially wanted to drive Ye Qing away, but after seeing Ye Qing’s display of action earlier, he didn’t dare to say anything more. He gave an awkward smile and waved his hand, ”It’s fine, it’s fine, everyone keep eating, keep eating...”

His voice was lowered, in fact, he wasn’t even confident himself; he was really scared of Ye Qing.

Everyone else shared the same look, whispering among themselves, speculating what Ye Qing had been up to all these years. Fortunately, everyone knew about Ye Qing’s military background, so they assumed that Ye Qing’s combat skills came from army training. However, they were more concerned about whether Ye Qing could still leave the Capital after offending Lin Haoqi here.

Gao Shibao was equally worried. Watching Ye Qing jest and chat, he couldn’t help but tug on Ye Qing’s clothes, whispering, ”Ye Zi, maybe you should leave first. Lin Haoqi’s family has connections in both the underworld and the official circles here in the Capital. I just saw Ding Yue sending messages the whole time, he might be calling people over. You might not be able to leave when they arrive!”

Ye Qing smiled calmly, patting Gao Shibao on the shoulder, ”It’s fine.”

”How is it fine!” Gao Shibao glared, ”Even if you’re doing well in Shenchuan City, this is the Capital, not Shenchuan City!”

”I know!” Ye Qing was calm. To him, what did the Capital matter? When he first arrived in Shenchuan City, he could single-handedly charge into the Lin family, so when had he ever been afraid? Ye Qing’s character was such that, even if there were thousands of troops ahead, he would still charge forward alone!

Moreover, even if Lin Haoqi had connections everywhere, in front of the Su Family, he wasn’t even fit to carry shoes!

Seeing Ye Qing so confident, Gao Shibao was more astonished, and at that moment, he really couldn’t see through Ye Qing anymore. However, since Ye Qing was so confident, surely he had his reasons, so he said nothing more and just joined Ye Qing in eating and drinking.

After three rounds of drinks, the atmosphere among the crowd improved slightly. Zhou Yong was holding a wine glass, but suddenly the phone on the table rang. Seeing the number, Zhou Yong’s expression changed immediately. He quickly gestured to everyone and said softly, ”Sorry, an extremely important call, I… I need to take this, a business call.”

Everyone had just come out and naturally understood that this was no small matter, so they all stopped talking.

Zhou Yong answered the phone and said, ”President He, how’s it going? Which senior executive from Lin Corporation is coming to the Capital? Ah? You don’t even know? Then… then who are we supposed to contact? Liu Yuan? Which Liu Yuan? Oh, you mean that Manager Liu, right? I’ve heard of him, I’ve heard of him, the decoration king of Shenchuan City, he handles almost 80-90% of Shenchuan’s decoration business and seems to have a good relationship with Lin Corporation. Wow, Manager Liu is personally coming to the Capital? That’s great, if I could meet him, there’s hope for this project. He’s at the International Hotel now? Really? I’m at the International Hotel right now. Can you arrange for me to meet him? You haven’t been able to reach him? Then… what should we do? How long will he be in the Capital? What, leaving the day after tomorrow? Then… won’t I miss the chance to meet him? How about I go find him now? Oh, then… forget it…”

Hanging up the phone, Zhou Yong’s expression was visibly a bit dejected. It was apparent that his negotiation on this project wasn’t particularly successful.

”Zhou Yong, don’t worry!” Ding Yue directly said, ”The Lin family in Lin Corporation, our Lin family is still somewhat distantly related. How about I have my dad inquire about this matter for you tomorrow?”

Hearing this, Zhou Yong was overjoyed and quickly clasped his hands, ”Then I must thank you first, hey, this project, I’ve been busy with it for over half a year, just waiting for Lin Corporation. If this project doesn’t go through, the last half year will be wasted!”

It was clear that Zhou Yong truly valued this project. Ding Yue showed a smug expression again; she was this kind of person, flamboyant, loved to be admired by others. In fact, she might not even be able to accomplish this, because she knew very well, Lin Corporation of Shenchuan City coming to the Capital had virtually no connection with Lin Haoqi’s family.

”Zhou Yong, is this project very important?” Ye Qing asked suddenly.

”How could it not be important, it’s extremely important!” Zhou Yong said, ”Ye Zi, you don’t know. This project is a topic I started working on when I was in college, and I’ve been working on it ever since. The past half a year has been entirely devoted to it, it carries too much of my effort. Just right now, Lin Corporation needs a project like this. However, there are also a few similar projects bidding together. If I can’t meet with a senior executive from Lin Corporation, this project might just be wasted!”

”Oh.” Ye Qing nodded, thought for a moment, and said, ”Zhou Yong, I didn’t bring you any gift this time. How about this, I’ll arrange for you to meet with Liu Yuan, consider it a gift from me, how about that?”

”Ah?” Liu Yuan widened his eyes, looking at Ye Qing in astonishment. Everyone in the room looked at Ye Qing with the same eyes, all faces filled with surprise, including Gao Shibao.

”Ye Zi, what are you saying?” Gao Shibao said in astonishment, ”You know Liu Yuan?”

”Liu Yuan from Shenchuan City, correct.” Ye Qing smiled and said, ”Quite familiar.”

”Really?” Zhou Yong said excitedly, quickly standing up, ”Ye Zi, can you really arrange it?”

”I’ll try, it mainly depends on his time.” Ye Qing took out his phone, smiled, and said, ”Let me contact him first.”

After speaking, Ye Qing directly dialed Liu Yuan’s number. It only rang twice before Liu Yuan’s voice came through, ”Ye Zi, where are you?”

”Capital, International Hotel.” Ye Qing replied with a mild smile.

”Damn, really?” Liu Yuan’s voice turned excited, the sudden rise in pitch made everyone in the room hear it clearly. Just from that voice, everyone could imagine that the person on the other end had a not-so-simple relationship with Ye Qing.

Zhou Yong clenched his fists; he suddenly felt like the prospects for this matter had become quite promising.

”Really, you’re here too, right?” Ye Qing said with a mild smile.

”You know I’m here?” Liu Yuan said, ”Damn, you knew I was here and didn’t inform me. Alright, enough chatter, where are you, I’ll come get you. Just to let you know, Director Mu is here too, you must come over and join us!”

”Qingrong is here too?” Ye Qing said with a slight surprise, not expecting Mu Qingrong to also be in the Capital.

”Of course!” Liu Yuan said, ”Director Mu is now the most formidable warrior at Lin Corporation, handling most of the operations. The Capital business is huge; of course, Director Mu has come personally. Besides, the chairman recently focused mainly on family matters, so the company is essentially managed by Director Mu. Director Mu brought me this time to broaden my horizons, and it’s a coincidence you’re here as well. Alright, enough talk on the phone, where are you? I’ll come find you.”

”Third floor, Room 8.” Ye Qing replied.

”Alright!” Liu Yuan directly hung up the phone, not even waiting for Ye Qing to say anything else.

Ye Qing put down the phone, smiled at Zhou Yong, and said, ”It seems he doesn’t have a problem with time.”
