Urban Martial Saint

Although there were more than a dozen people in the room, all classmates from both sides, no one stood up to say a word to ease the tense atmosphere. Everyone watched Ye Qing and Gao Shibao with a playful expression, curious to see how they would handle the situation.

That’s how people are, not many are there to lend a hand in times of need, but quite a few enjoy watching the drama unfold. Even if they were once classmates, the gap has widened after graduation, leaving little of the former camaraderie, replaced instead by a sense of competition.

Lin Haoqi is from the Capital, and his family has multiple businesses there, classifying him as a second-generation rich kid. Among all the people from the Capital, Lin Haoqi’s family is the wealthiest. Thus, everyone has been catering to him from the start. As for Gao Shibao, not many pay attention to him. When people see Ye Qing, they recall how he used to eat leftovers at school, rarely considering that he was also a classmate for four years.

Now that Lin Haoqi was confronting both Gao Shibao and Ye Qing, everyone was happy to watch the spectacle. As the host, Zhou Yong naturally didn’t want such a thing to happen, but seeing that Lin Haoqi was displeased with Gao Shibao, he couldn’t say much. After all, in his heart, Ye Qing and Gao Shibao together couldn’t compare to Lin Haoqi. Therefore, he didn’t want to provoke Lin Haoqi for their sake.

”Why didn’t I speak properly?” Gao Shibao was somewhat intimidated by Lin Haoqi, but to support Ye Qing, he still mustered up the courage to say, ”Ye Zi came too hastily this time and didn’t prepare anything, which is understandable. Since we’re all classmates, why can’t we be a bit more lenient with each other?”

”We’re not being intolerant; we just find Ye Qing’s actions inappropriate,” Lin Haoqi said. ”Here we are in a restaurant. If he really forgot a gift, drinking a cup of wine and apologizing would suffice. We’re all classmates, no big deal. But you think a single sentence is enough? Is that appropriate?”

Gao Shibao wanted to say more, but Ye Qing raised a hand to stop him. He looked at Lin Haoqi and said, ”I’m sorry, it was my fault. I truly don’t understand the customs here, came empty-handed, and indeed arrived late tonight. How about this, I’ll punish myself with three glasses!”

With that, Ye Qing picked up the wine bottle from the table, looked calmly at Lin Haoqi opposite him, and said, ”Haoqi, your criticism is spot-on, and as a classmate, I’ve learned a lesson. Let’s do this, I’ll drink a glass in honor of you, as thanks for reminding me. Besides, you arrived late too, so you should join me in self-punishment. Since Ding Yue is a female classmate, she doesn’t need to drink. The two of us will, how about it? I’ll drink three glasses, you drink two?”

Lin Haoqi frowned and said, ”Ye Qing, that’s not right. How come after a few words, I have to drink two glasses with you? I didn’t arrive late; we’re not past the arranged time, are we?”

”Regardless of whether or not it’s the appointed time, since everyone else arrived and we didn’t, it counts as late,” Ye Qing smiled and said. ”Haoqi, we’re all classmates, I’ll drink one as self-punishment, it wouldn’t be quite right if you don’t join, right?”

Lin Haoqi glanced around at everyone, who were all watching him. He felt particularly annoyed but knew clearly that if he outright refused, people would definitely say he was backing down from Ye Qing. Considering it was only one glass, he gritted his teeth and nodded, ”Fine, since you say so, I’ll accompany you for the glass for being late. But what’s the deal with you offering me that other glass?”

”Offering you this one is to thank you for reminding me of these matters. I’m really not familiar with the rules here, and if it wasn’t for your reminder, I wouldn’t have known,” Ye Qing smiled. ”An old classmate offering you a drink, surely you won’t refuse, right?”

Of course, Lin Haoqi didn’t want to give Ye Qing face, but Ye Qing had put it out there. If he really didn’t drink this glass, it wouldn’t look good on him.

”Fine!” Lin Haoqi gritted his teeth looking at Ye Qing and said, ”In that case, no need to just one, let’s drink three together, what’s the point of offering just one?”

Lin Haoqi had a considerable tolerance for alcohol, usually able to down a kilo and a half with ease, and no classmates could match him. This time, since Ye Qing dared to challenge him, he prepared to strike hard, ready to outdrink Ye Qing and show him the difference in status.

”That’s great!” Ye Qing laughed, ”Three it is, then Haoqi, that makes it I drink five, you drink four!”

”Fine!” Lin Haoqi replied generously, not bothered by the four cups at all.

Ye Qing smiled slightly and looked at Zhou Yong, ”Just asking everyone to bear witness, I drink five, Haoqi drinks four.”

”You don’t need to repeat, everyone’s here, what I say is like water poured out, absolutely doesn’t change!” Lin Haoqi said, ”Let’s drink!”

Ye Qing nodded with satisfaction and was about to pour wine when Gao Shibao quietly tugged at his sleeve, whispering, ”Slow down, Lin Haoqi drinks a lot, you can’t outdrink him!”

With a faint smile, Ye Qing gave him a reassuring look, reached for five goblets from the center of the table, and placed them in front of himself.

”What are you doing!” Lin Haoqi’s eyes widened, and not just him, but everyone else in the room was also astonished.

Ye Qing was talking about goblets? What kind of joke was this?

The goblet’s capacity is quite large, about three full cups per bottle. By this calculation, drinking five goblets meant more than a bottle and a half for Ye Qing. Meanwhile, Lin Haoqi, drinking four, nearly one and a half bottles too, wasn’t taking it lightly?

”Drinking,” Ye Qing poured the wine slowly into the goblets, as if they weren’t goblets but ordinary cups.

”You... you... you always drink like this?” Zhou Yong widened his eyes, ”Who drinks white wine like this? We have small cups!”

”Those glasses are too small, not satisfying.” Ye Qing said, ”Seeing old classmates without sincerity using those glasses. These are better, smoother to drink.”

”Are you insane?” Lin Haoqi said anxiously, ”Four of these would be almost a kilo and a half, can you even drink that?”

Ye Qing smiled faintly, ”No issue, if I can’t finish, you don’t have to drink.”

Seeing Ye Qing’s confident expression stunned everyone in the room. During school, Ye Qing’s life was a problem, no one saw him drink or knew his capacity. Unexpectedly, Ye Qing used such a drinking capacity, shocking everyone.

Lin Haoqi frowned deeply, unsure if Ye Qing was genuinely capable or bluffing. However, he knew his situation well, four of these quickly would reach his limit, and even then, drinking quickly wouldn’t sit well.

But considering Ye Qing had spoken this far, stopping him would seem like admitting fear, wouldn’t it? Seeing Ye Qing already filled five goblets, Lin Haoqi gritted his teeth and said, ”Let’s make it clear, Ye Qing, if you either get drunk or vomit halfway, it counts as you can’t drink. If you can’t, I’ll not drink with you!”

”Good!” Ye Qing replied directly, without hesitation, his confidence left everyone amazed. Could Ye Qing really drink like this?

Beside him, Gao Shibao looked at Ye Qing in utter bewilderment, knowing his own three-quarters capacity, wouldn’t dare think of five like this. If really drinking it all, wouldn’t instantly collapse?

After pouring five glasses, Ye Qing picked the first one up and smiled at Zhou Yong, ”Zhou Yong, I’m really sorry. I truly didn’t know the rules, came empty-handed without bringing any gifts. This one’s to apologize to you!”

As Ye Qing spoke and lifted his glass to drink, suddenly Ding Yue spoke in a low voice, ”Wait a moment.”

”What’s wrong?” Gao Shibao stared at her, not knowing what this woman suddenly wanted to do.

”Let me take a look!” Ding Yue took the glass from Ye Qing’s hand and carefully sniffed it, as if identifying if it was real wine.

Seeing Ding Yue like this made Gao Shibao angry, ”What are you doing? The wine was brought by Zhou Yong, prepared, and opened by him. You’re not doubting Ye Zi, you’re doubting Zhou Yong!”

Hearing this, Lin Haoqi glanced at Ding Yue with displeasure. Embarrassed, Ding Yue realized the wine was indeed real. Unwilling to meet Zhou Yong’s eyes, quickly placed the glass back down.

Ye Qing picked up the glass, smiled, ”Since Zhou Yong’s provided wine is fine, I’ll start then!”

As Ye Qing spoke, he tilted his head and drank the entire glass as if it were water. After downing the glass, his expression didn’t change at all, without any sign of discomfort, as if he really drank water.

Seeing Ye Qing like this, Lin Haoqi’s expression shifted. He knew Ye Qing had considerable drinking capacity; he might actually finish the five glasses.

Everyone else was equally amazed, knowing in today’s dealings and events, alcohol is like currency. Everyone’s drinking levels were comparable, but Ye Qing’s capacity was truly rare and impressive.

Having drunk one, Ye Qing picked up the second, ”This one, for coming late, as self-punishment. Haoqi, I’ll drink first!”

With that, Ye Qing tilted his head again, just like before, drinking it all directly, without a single pause, leaving everyone around stupefied.
