Urban Martial Saint

Seeing the busy and anxious look on Zhao Chengshuang’s face, Wu Yian was also full of surprise, and he asked curiously, ”Captain Zhao, what’s wrong? Has something happened?”

”It’s nothing, nothing,” Zhao Chengshuang hurriedly waved his hand, not wanting to worry the old man about Ye Qing’s situation. However, he didn’t dare to neglect his duties, and quickly instructed the police in the car to contact Li Lianshan. He then got out of the car himself and carefully asked Wu Yian about those people from before, especially for their license plate numbers. Zhao Chengshuang immediately called the traffic police with these numbers, asking them to find out where these three cars had gone without delay.

Soon, Li Lianshan was reached. On hearing that Ye Qing had been taken away by someone impersonating an inspector, Li Lianshan was also taken aback and quickly inquired what exactly had happened.

Zhao Chengshuang didn’t have time to explain in detail and simply ran through the events briefly, then he asked Li Lianshan to immediately gather manpower, ready to set off to rescue Ye Qing. On the other hand, he kept calling the traffic police, urging them to locate the three vehicles as soon as possible.

However, the results were disappointing for Zhao Chengshuang; the traffic police couldn’t find any trace of the three vehicles. The only explanation was that the cars did not enter the urban area but drove on rural roads, or they had changed their license plates, which was why they couldn’t be found.

This situation made Zhao Chengshuang very anxious. If he could pinpoint Ye Qing’s location, they could find a way to rescue him. But now, they had no idea where Ye Qing had been taken, and that was a big problem.

Zhao Chengshuang left several police officers to search for any crucial clues, and he himself hurried back to the city to meet with Li Lianshan. The abduction of Ye Qing was a matter of great importance, and he dared not delay.

Li Lianshan also contacted Chen Si directly. When Chen Si heard about the matter of Ye Qing being impersonated and taken away, he was shocked and immediately informed Chen San.

In the past two days, Chen San had been wondering why Wang Tian’an had not made any moves. Hearing from Chen Si about this incident, Chen San was shocked and immediately suspected that Wang Tian’an was behind it.

There had been no movement from Wang Tian’an during these days, which very likely meant he was brewing this scheme. Using the name of the inspection team to take Ye Qing away, no matter how cunning Ye Qing was, he never would have anticipated that Wang Tian’an would tamper with this matter.

”Tell all the brothers to keep a close watch on Wang Tian’an’s side!” Chen San ordered immediately, ”If it really was Wang Tian’an who took Ye Qing away, they will definitely bring Ye Qing back. The moment the person returns, we’ll charge in to rescue him!”

”But… what if it wasn’t Wang Tian’an who took Ye Qing away?” Chen Si asked anxiously, caught off guard by the suddenness of the incident.

”If it isn’t Wang Tian’an’s people who took Ye Qing, then there’s nothing to worry about!” Chen San said, ”Now in Shenchuan City, aside from Wang Tian’an, who else has the capability to kill Ye Qing? Besides, who else wants to kill Ye Qing?”

Chen Si had a sudden realization, immediately turned, and went out to give the orders, instructing their subordinates to pay even closer attention to Wang Tian’an’s movements.

Within less than half an hour, the news had spread throughout Shenchuan City. Everyone in Shenchuan City sprang into action, starting to search for Ye Qing everywhere. Just the police force alone, Zhao Chengshuang had mobilized an entire division. And the whole traffic police force of Shenchuan City was almost entirely deployed by Zhao Chengshuang, all out to trace the whereabouts of those three cars. However, the vehicles seemed to have vanished, making Zhao Chengshuang feel helpless.

Meanwhile, Ye Qing was sitting in the middle car, discussing in detail the situation at the orphanage with Huang Boxiong. Huang Boxiong’s performance earlier, as well as things like his work ID, didn’t make him suspect the identities of these people at all. Thus, sitting in the car, he was without any worries, reporting in great detail to Huang Boxiong, hoping that it would win him favorable comments when Huang reported back. This would greatly increase the chances of the orphanage getting approval from the province.

Ye Qing was not someone who could be easily fooled, but this time, he was too eager to get the province to approve the orphanage. Hence, his eagerness overshadowed everything, he harbored no doubts towards the inspection team. For the sake of the orphanage, he truly had not given it much thought. Especially since the provincial inspection team had also just arrived, it never crossed his mind that there could be anything amiss with this group.

Huang Boxiong seemed very interested, asking Ye Qing a variety of questions along the way. To each question, Ye Qing responded in great detail. The two talked for nearly an hour, and as the sky gradually darkened, Ye Qing still didn’t sense anything unusual. However, when he noticed the darkening sky outside, Ye Qing couldn’t help but look out and was puzzled, asking, ”Where are we headed?”

”To a small school in a village nearby, it’s quite remote and is one of the targets of our inspection,” Huang Boxiong smiled and said, ”I apologize, Mr. Ye. This visit was really abrupt, and we have to trouble you to come along with us. But it’s also an opportunity, if you’re not otherwise occupied, to join us and take a look. The conditions of this small school are very poor, and if possible, we hope to close this school and rearrange for the children to study elsewhere!”

Ye Qing, most interested in topics like this, nodded repeatedly, ”You’re absolutely right, the teaching conditions in some of these small mountain villages are indeed poor. If it really could be done that way, that would be wonderful.”

”Well, exactly how to go about it, we still need to go there and assess the situation,” sighed Huang Boxiong, ”Although the province has this idea, putting these things into practice is not that simple.”

”That’s indeed the case,” Ye Qing nodded repeatedly, and casually took out his phone to check it.

Seeing Ye Qing do this, the others in the car immediately tensed up, all looking at Ye Qing. Huang Boxiong gave them a look, and they calmed down a bit, turning their heads to the side, but their attention was still focused on Ye Qing.

Ye Qing did not notice the oddness around him and checked his phone, saying, ”It’s almost 7 o’clock, when can we get there? Director Huang, this mountain road is not easy to travel. If it gets dark, I’m afraid the speed will be even slower!”

Hearing Ye Qing’s words, the expressions on the faces of the people around him relaxed. They originally thought Ye Qing was going to make a call, but it turned out he was just checking the time.

”No worries,” Huang Boxiong said with a smile: ”We are almost there, probably another ten-minute drive. Mr. Ye, you don’t have anything else to do, do you?”

”No, no,” Ye Qing hastily waved his hand, smiling, ”This matter is the most important right now; everything else is not as important as this!”

”That’s good,” said Huang Boxiong with a smile. ”For education, Mr. Ye, you have really given a lot.”

Ye Qing smiled and replied, ”As long as the children can live well, I will be at ease.”

”Ah, nowadays the society really lacks people with a caring heart like Mr. Ye,” sighed Huang Boxiong, ”Mr. Ye, to be honest with you, before coming here, I really did not have much hope for your orphanage. But, having seen the construction situation over there, and after having talked with you so much just now, I have gained much more confidence in your orphanage. These children would definitely be better taken care of by you than by our public orphanages here!”

Huang Boxiong’s words overjoyed Ye Qing, who thanked him repeatedly and began discussing the matter again with Huang Boxiong.

Huang Boxiong turned to a few people nearby with a faint smile; his words to Ye Qing were meant to reassure him. And indeed, his words worked very well; Ye Qing was indeed very interested in the matter and did not have any doubts.

After another ten minutes or so, the vehicle truly entered a dilapidated primary school. Looking from the outside in, the school seemed almost abandoned, with not a single light on late at night, revealing how poor the conditions of the place were.

”Mr. Ye, we have arrived!” Huang Boxiong got off the car first, smiling at Ye Qing, ”The conditions of this school are very poor, I’m sorry for the inconvenience, Mr. Ye!”

”No problem, no problem!” Ye Qing followed and got out of the car, where several people were standing at the school gate, waiting for them.

Huang Boxiong walked up, exchanged pleasantries with these people, and then led Ye Qing and the others into the school.

After entering the school, Ye Qing finally realized that the conditions here were truly rudimentary beyond simple explanation. The headmaster took everyone around for a tour, which was actually just a brief walk. The school was almost decrepit and there was hardly anything worth seeing.

After the tour, the headmaster warmly invited everyone to have dinner there. Huang Boxiong, with a populist demeanor, immediately agreed to dine there, emphasizing again and again that there was no need for anything special, and that a simple home-cooked meal would suffice.

The headmaster was indeed obedient; the dinner was very ordinary, just simple home cooking. Huang Boxiong and Ye Qing sat together, and he said with a smile, ”Mr. Ye, I apologize for letting you eat such simple fare.”

Ye Qing’s face was full of gratitude as he said, ”Director Huang, please don’t say that. In fact, it’s you who are being inconvenienced, having to endure such hardship while coming down for inspections.”

”It’s all for the children!” said Huang Boxiong with a kindly face, warmly encouraging Ye Qing to eat.

Ye Qing did not refuse and ate two bowls of rice, which made those around him look at him with glowing eyes. Especially Huang Boxiong sitting next to him; his originally calm smile had gradually turned into a sneer.

After finishing two bowls of rice, Ye Qing’s expression was clearly a bit dazed. He tried to stand up, but as he got halfway up, his body swayed and he fell directly to the ground.

”Mr. Ye, what’s wrong with you?” Huang Boxiong hurriedly supported Ye Qing.

Ye Qing held his head, puzzled, ”I... why am I feeling so dizzy?”
