Urban Martial Saint

Li Style Bajiquan is dominant and powerful, being extremely overbearing even among the fierce and intense Northern Fist styles. Last time, when Ye Qing sparred with Chen Si, even Chen Si himself praised the power of Ye Qing’s Li Style Bajiquan.

You should know that Chen Si is a practitioner of the Iron Sand Palm. This palm technique, honed by striking metal and stone, has formidable power and is truly the epitome of domineering martial arts. Even Chen Si praises it like that, which shows the terrifying power of Li Style Bajiquan!

Ye Qing’s Li Style Bajiquan was personally taught by the Northern Fist King Li Changqing, and is absolutely authentic. However, Ye Qing’s physique is not particularly powerful, nor does he have Third Master Li’s exceedingly strong inner strength. Thus, although his punches seem fierce, the actual attack power is somewhat lacking. But it’s different for Black Bear; standing there, he looks like an iron tower, his body incredibly robust. In his hands, Bajiquan is truly terrifying.

On the top floor, Ye Qing taught Black Bear the entire set of boxing techniques from beginning to end. Black Bear has a simple mind and not the best memory. It took Ye Qing two hours to teach him the Bajiquan set, and he still hadn’t fully remembered it. However, the techniques he did manage to memorize, he would never forget. Moreover, the effectiveness when he performed them was startling to Ye Qing. It was as if this boxing technique was tailor-made for him!

Can you imagine, a towering strongman using a wildly ferocious technique like Stick to the Mountain, and the consequences of being rammed by him?

If Ye Qing’s Stick to the Mountain is like a car hitting a person, then Black Bear’s Stick to the Mountain is like a fully loaded truck!

Among the many techniques of Bajiquan, it’s this Stick to the Mountain that Black Bear has become most proficient at. After all, this technique is straightforward, explosively fierce, and when executed by someone with his physique, it’s like an armored vehicle charging forward, perfectly fitting Black Bear’s characteristics. That’s why Black Bear particularly likes this technique and has spent a lot of time practicing it. He may not have mastered all the Bajiquan techniques yet, but he has become very skilled at Stick to the Mountain.

”Captain, I’ve seen you knocking people flying before, which was really impressive. I tried to ram people like you did, but the effect was quite different. I couldn’t understand why at the time,” Black Bear said excitedly, happy with his training: ”Now I finally get it. It turns out ramming people requires technique, and there are so many methods to it.”

Ye Qing smiled faintly. He didn’t know before that what Third Master Li taught him was martial arts. So, he had no intention of passing these things on to others. Later, when he arrived in Shenchuan City and learned the origins of Bajiquan, he was even more reluctant to teach it to others, as he didn’t want to draw the attention of the Xihang Shen Family. But now it’s different; with the matters of the Xihang Shen Family resolved, Ye Qing can confidently teach Black Bear the set of Li Style Bajiquan.

”Stick to the Mountain in Bajiquan is the simplest but also the most powerful technique in the set,” said Ye Qing: ”Stick to the Mountain does not only involve ramming with the shoulder. I demonstrated using the shoulder because it’s the most convenient and powerful. However, the downside of this technique is also very clear.”

”Downside?” Black Bear looked surprised and asked, ”Does this move have a downside? I feel it’s very effective. As long as I ram with full force, who can stop me?”

”That’s not the case,” Ye Qing shook his head and said: ”Stick to the Mountain is a technique difficult to interrupt, with considerable power focusing on unbalancing attacks. Charging with the entire body can break through nearly any defense. However, if the timing is not right, it is easy to be counterattacked in the ribs. The ribs are one of the softest parts of the human body. If struck with a heavy punch, you’ll probably lose the ability to fight back. Therefore, although Stick to the Mountain is powerful, it should not be used too frequently. The key is to seize the right moment. If the timing is not right, it’s better to take a hit than to use this move, otherwise, you will certainly suffer a big loss!”

”Oh.” Black Bear nodded, clearly a bit disappointed, and said, ”How can we grasp this timing then? No one will stand there waiting to be rammed. If the opponent is fast enough, this move would be useless.”

”Haha...” Ye Qing chuckled and replied, ”In fact, the opportunity is created by oneself, not intentionally presented by the enemy. Stick to the Mountain is not as simple as you think; in fact, Bajiquan primarily strengthens the body’s toughness. Stick to the Mountain, also known as leaning on a post, involves using various parts of the body to ram a stake. When I practiced this move, I had a specific training method: find a tree and ram it with different parts of the body. This not only strengthens the toughness of your body but also improves the impact force. Most importantly, after much practice, you will realize that any part of the body can be used to ram. Therefore, Stick to the Mountain does not have to rely on the shoulder. Every part of the body can be used to strike the enemy. For example, the back, the elbow, can also be used.”

As Ye Qing spoke, he took a step forward and circled around to Black Bear’s back. Before Black Bear could turn his head, Ye Qing suddenly rammed him with his back shoulder, hitting Black Bear’s back and making him stagger back a few steps before he steadied himself, showing that the power of this blow was not weak.

Seeing Black Bear grasp the move, he suddenly understood, ”Captain, I know now. The timing you mentioned is like this, right? As soon as the opponent shows an opening, immediately ram them with the body part closest to them!”

”Exactly!” Ye Qing nodded, Black Bear had grasped the concept very well, which was indeed beyond Ye Qing’s expectations.

”Fantastic!” Black Bear was exceptionally excited and said: ”No, I have to practice this move well too. Team leader, how about I also find a tree to practice against?”

Ye Qing smiled and responded: ”There are a few trees in the backyard, you can give it a try. Remember, wrap some cloth around the trunk first to protect your body.”

”Got it.” Black Bear replied and eagerly rushed downstairs to look for those trees.

Ye Qing stood on the upper floor, watching Black Bear run to the backyard, pick a few trees, and use various parts of his body to knock against the tree trunks, practicing with great enthusiasm. However, Black Bear, being thick-skinned and tough, didn’t bother wrapping the trunks with cloth and rammed into them directly. Even though it caused some pain, this method of practice was indeed the fastest and most effective one to enhance the body’s toughness in the shortest time. Even if his Bajiquan techniques were not yet proficient, at least he would be much more resilient in a fight!

Although Black Bear was not very insightful, fortunately, the Li Style Bajiquan was quite suitable for him. It was estimated that in no time, he would be able to make some initial achievements in Bajiquan. Even if he didn’t become a martial arts master, at the very least his strength would increase considerably, which was a good thing for Black Bear.

However, Ye Qing was very clear that it was not enough for Black Bear to train alone. First of all, it would take some time for Black Bear to become proficient. Moreover, Black Bear was already past the prime age for martial arts training. Currently, he was incapable of practicing Neijia Kung Fu, and even if he could master Bajiquan, he definitely couldn’t become a master. Therefore, Ye Qing didn’t hold much hope for him. Considering the current situation, Ye Qing realized he must recruit some more skilled martial artists to his side.

Though Sha Men members had been assisting Ye Qing, they were, after all, affiliated with Sha Men and had their own matters to attend to. Moreover, in the confrontation with the Chen Family in Western Province, they might need to get involved, preventing them from aiding Ye Qing daily. Hence, how to enhance his own strength had become a somewhat complicated issue now.

This issue was quite a headache for Ye Qing, but despite the headache, he had no immediate solution at the moment. After resting at home for a night, he rose early the next morning, called upon reliable subordinates like Chen Jun Hou San, Mad Dog, Da Fei, and headed straight to the Xingyi School.

The South and North Xingyi Gate were thoroughly united into one Xingyi School, and today, they were to change their signboard, signifying the complete merger of the Xingyi School. It was an important event, and Ye Qing naturally came to offer congratulations. Moreover, Ye Qing wanted to discuss allowing Mad Dog, Chen Jun, and the others to practice Xingyi Quan here to enhance their strength.

Ye Qing had two sets of boxing techniques: Bajiquan was too fierce and not suitable for Da Fei, Chen Jun, and the others to practice. The other was Wing Chun Fist, taught to him by the Southern Fist King Shen Tianjun, which he couldn’t just impart to others casually. Hence, he set his sights on the resources of the Xingyi School.

When Ye Qing arrived at the Xingyi School, the place was festooned with lanterns and decorations, bustling with various preparations. Everyone was busy and filled with excitement and anticipation. The Southern Xingyi School was pleased because their Sect’s strength had increased, and no one would dare to bully them now. People from the Northern Xingyi School, on the other hand, were aspiring for a better future after experiencing the delightful life in Shenchuan City over the past few days.

Liu Yuan was also there, leading a group of people to help with the room renovation. Seeing Ye Qing coming, Liu Yuan immediately hung up the phone and greeted him from afar: ”Ye Zi, over here, over here!”

Ye Qing walked over and smiled, ”Big Brother Liu, you’re here early too.”

”It’s the official sign changing day today; it’s a big deal, so I naturally had to come over early to make arrangements,” Liu Yuan laughed: ”Besides, I knew you would come, so I specifically came to meet you. I’ve been saying, you’ve been quite busy recently. You’ve been back for quite a few days; how come we don’t see you often?”

”Got held up by some minor matters,” Ye Qing casually mentioned. Although he had a good relationship with Liu Yuan and entrusted many tasks to him, Ye Qing didn’t want Liu Yuan to be involved in these violent affairs, considering Liu Yuan had a clean reputation.

Liu Yuan knew that the ’minor matter’ Ye Qing referred to was certainly not trivial, so he did not pry any further, simply chatting and laughing with Ye Qing. Despite not meeting often, Liu Yuan had helped Ye Qing during his difficult times, and Ye Qing was very grateful to him. Now, having received Ye Qing’s assistance, Liu Yuan had climbed to the ranks of Shenchuan City’s elite, and he was also very grateful to Ye Qing. So even though their conversation was brief, their friendship was strong.
