Urban Martial Saint

Song Yuanwu was also excited by what Snake had said, and patted Snake’s shoulder, saying, ”Okay, don’t think too big. The most important thing is to do the job well. They entrusted you with the security work, and you must do it well, definitely don’t mess it up. From now on, you can’t be loafing around like before when it’s time to work. Do a good job for them, understand?”

”Dad, don’t worry, I will definitely do a good job!” Snake sincerely replied.

Song Yuanwu smiled slightly, feeling truly warm-hearted seeing his son making such a promise.

”Senior Brother Song, what’s the great news really?” People from six other sects were also listening in, and the Sect Leader of Tiger Shape Sect couldn’t help asking, ”How much is the salary for this security job per month?”

Snake excitedly said, ”The standard salary in the city ranges from two thousand five hundred to three thousand five hundred per month, but Ye Qing told me that his standard would be higher, probably more than four thousand, maybe even up to five thousand.”

”Such good salary?” People from the other six sects exclaimed in surprise, and another person eagerly asked, ”Then… is there any educational requirement?”

”No!” Snake waved his hand, ”For being a security guard, what education do you need? The key is to follow orders!”

”That’s easy!” the Sect Leader of Tiger Shape Sect excitedly said, ”Xiao She, is there still a quota? Both of my lazy kids need to find something to do. Can you talk to Mr. Ye and see if they can come over?”

”No problem, leave it to me!” Snake patted his chest and said, Ye Qing needs over one hundred people, and he’s still considering where to find people, not knowing that people are actually delivering themselves as candidates.

”Really?” The Sect Leader of Tiger Shape Sect instantly smiled and said, ”Oh, that’s great, truly great!”

”And my kid too, Xiao She, can you arrange something for him?”

”My boy as well, Xiao She, do me a favor...”

People from the other sects started speaking up one after another. These sects were all in decline, and their younger generations were not doing well, most of them idle at home. Although they were Martial Artists, in this era, Martial Artists didn’t play a significant role. Moreover, these people were formerly respectable figures of upright sects and wouldn’t engage in crooked ways. With strong martial arts skills but no connections, making a living wasn’t easy. Their younger generations, having spent most of their time in martial arts training, found finding work even more challenging.

Indeed, many jobs now require educational qualifications, and they had few applicable skills, making it hard to find any work. Staying idle at home for long periods, they gradually started drifting towards the wrong path, mostly ending up like Snake, becoming local ruffians, and their elders were truly worried, always wanting to find them proper jobs. However, they were also afraid to let these potential troublemakers out of their sight, fearing they might cause trouble relying on their martial prowess. So, keeping them close by made finding jobs even harder.

Now, with such an opportunity for legitimate work, and being close to their elders who could keep an eye on them, these elders naturally wanted to seize it. Especially since the job didn’t need any educational qualifications, had relaxing duties, and offered a high salary, it perfectly met their needs. Consequently, everyone momentarily forgot about the matters in Western Province and started asking Snake to arrange for their people to come over for the security jobs.

Ye Qing had told Snake that he needed over one hundred people, while these seven idle sects had a total of one hundred fifty to sixty people. Seeing this figure, Snake felt a bit troubled, fearing that Ye Qing might not accept so many people, so he refrained from making promises to everybody and instead called Ye Qing to report this number.

Ye Qing hadn’t yet entered the city area when hearing about this from Snake, he laughed and said, ”One hundred fifty to sixty people? Make it one hundred fifty to sixty then, I initially told you about over one hundred as just for the first batch. We’ll be building more facilities here later, and the demand for personnel is very high. I estimate, just for security, we’ll need at least three hundred people. Moreover, I have another place here that also needs some help, one hundred fifty to sixty people just isn’t enough!”

Hearing Ye Qing say this, Snake heaved a huge sigh of relief. He had been worried Ye Qing might not accept so many people. After all, these six sects had good relations with Snake Form Gate. If fewer people were needed, it would inevitably mean leaving some elder’s children out, deciding which children could come and which could not would be a big problem. But now, hearing Ye Qing would hire so many people, there’s no need to worry—people from all seven sects could completely come over to help!

”That’s wonderful!” Snake laughed, ”Consider it done. Ye brothers, you can rest assured, I will definitely do it well for you!”

Look, in just a short time, how Snake’s way of addressing Ye Qing changed. Previously he always referred to him as just ’Ye’, but now he switched to calling him ’Ye brothers’, showing great change in his mindset. Ye Qing not only saved his life and the entire Snake Form Gate, but also gave him such an opportunity, making Snake extremely grateful to Ye Qing!

”Right, Ye brothers, what place were you referring to just now when you mentioned ’another place’?” Snake asked, ”Is it convenient to disclose it a bit? I could arrange some people as per your needs.”

Ye Qing paused slightly before replying, ”Actually, it’s that orphanage of mine. However, it’s hard to say as it might not be needed. I’ll contact you about the manpower needed there once things are settled.”

Since the orphanage was last bombed, although no one died, Ye Qing has become highly vigilant about the situation there. Even though those children have no disputes with the world, they are connected to Ye Qing, and it’s not impossible that someone would exploit those children. Especially with this incident involving Snake Form Gate, which shows that people from Western Province are also targeting the orphanage, this has made Ye Qing even more alert. No matter what, Ye Qing must ensure the absolute safety of the orphanage, so he has assigned nearly a third of his manpower to guard the orphanage to prevent any accidents.

However, Ye Qing knows very well that this is not a permanent solution. Moreover, he doesn’t want the orphanage to be involved in his affairs, so he wants to find a group of capable people with clean backgrounds to ensure the safety of the orphanage. Meeting the people from the seven sects of Snake Form Gate this time gave Ye Qing a sudden idea; wouldn’t it be better if these seven sects could protect the orphanage?

Of course, this idea is just temporary. After all, whether the orphanage can continue operating depends on the decision made after the provincial meeting. Moreover, according to Liu Changping’s opinion, the prospects might not be very promising, so Ye Qing has only proposed an idea and has not made a final decision.

Snake, however, was very excited and said, ”That would be great, I’ll wait for your news!”

Just as Snake hung up the phone, the elders from the seven sects immediately surrounded him, bombarding him with questions about whether it was feasible or not?

”Xiao She, all the elders present are your seniors, you should take their matters to heart!” Song Yuanwu said, ”If it really doesn’t work out, discuss with Boss Ye to set a lower wage for everyone. The key is to let your brothers find proper jobs!”

”Yes, yes, that’s right, we can’t let them idle around all day!”

”Xiao She, what exactly did Mr. Ye say?”

Everyone was anxious, fearing that the plan might fail.

Snake feigned difficulty, seeing everyone’s hearts rise to their throats. Just when they could hardly bear it anymore, Snake suddenly burst out laughing loudly, saying, ”It worked! It worked! It worked!”

”It worked?” Everyone was taken aback at first, and then very excited, Song Yuanwu stood up and said, ”What... what worked? Did Boss Ye agree?”

”Dad, Mr. Ye said that one hundred and sixty people aren’t enough. He wants to expand and needs at least three hundred people. And...” Snake paused, then continued, ”His orphanage also needs protection, and they might need to hire people in the future. Don’t just think about our one hundred and sixty people; even an additional two hundred wouldn’t be enough!”

Upon hearing this, everyone sighed in relief, and the weight hanging over their hearts finally settled. This was followed by an excited round of discussions. Li Lianshan’s hotel was very close to their sect, and they could watch over their children at any time, which made them feel most assured.

Song Yuanwu also showed a face full of happiness, nodding slowly, ”Boss Ye is a good man, Xiao She, let’s visit his place some day. This time, he really did a huge favor for our Snake Form Sect!”

”I was thinking the same thing,” Snake nodded, ”If not for Brother Ye, I might not have survived this time. Speaking of which, he even saved my life!”

Song Yuanwu smiled gently and nodded, knowing that his son had always been very proud and never grateful to anyone. This time, he was truly grateful to Ye Qing, which showed his deep admiration for Ye Qing. That was good; Song Yuanwu felt Ye Qing was excellent, and it would be best if his son could learn from him.

”Ah, the only slightly disappointing part is that his path is not good!” another Sect Leader sighed. ”He is a good person, but unfortunately, he took the wrong path, mingled with gangsters, ah!”

”You can’t say that, Uncle Yang. What does it mean by the wrong path, and what is a gangster?” Snake hurriedly said, ”All this talk about gangsters or wrong paths, it’s all relative. I think, although Ye Qing’s business is in entertainment and his money might not look honorable, you have to see how he uses it. I heard that all of Ye Qing’s money goes to the orphanage, and all those orphans are adopted by him. Raising so many children with his own earnings, is that an easy task? Regardless of whether he’s involved with gangsters or not, he’s not a bad person if he can do this!”
