Urban Martial Saint

Cui Yu looked at the corpse of Li Wenyuan on the ground without the slightest pity or sympathy in his eyes, saying, ”Great chaos is upon us, being merciful to your enemies is cruelty to yourself. Ye Qing, you should understand, on the battlefield, it’s either the enemy dies, or I perish. Today you spared him, but he will only seek revenge with increased ferocity in the future; that is human nature. Therefore, you must eradicate the roots when you cut the grass!”

As Cui Yu spoke, he glanced at Ye Qing, saying, ”I hope you remember what I’ve said. The successful stand atop a mountain of bones. Those who fail will become the bones under others’ feet!”

After Cui Yu finished, he turned around and led his men away, leaving Ye Qing still pondering his words.

A general achieves honor as thousands perish—wasn’t that the principle?

Ye Qing looked at the corpse of Li Wenyuan, still somewhat in a daze. He didn’t know what to do. Despite knowing Li Wenyuan would continue to seek revenge after leaving, he truly couldn’t bring himself to kill as casually as those people in the teahouse!

Soon, Du Tianyi and Black Bear walked out. Seeing the corpse of Li Wenyuan on the ground, he paused and quickly inquired what had happened.

As Ye Qing repeated Cui Yu’s words, Du Tianyi pondered for a moment and then shook his head, saying, ”I guess that’s the difference between Judge Cui and my master. Both have been famous for many years; my master has always been revered as the hero Old Tie, while he is shunned like a venomous snake. Those who step on bones are tyrants; those who can stand tall without stepping on bones are the real heroes!”

Ye Qing nodded. Du Tianyi’s words did lighten the burden in his heart a bit.

”However, heroes often meet tragic ends, while it’s tyrants who truly prevail in the end!” Du Tianyi sighed, his eyes suddenly flashing with a cold gleam, saying, ”Still, Judge Cui is right, if you don’t kill them, they will kill you; this is the law of survival in society!”

Ye Qing looked at Du Tianyi, frowning slightly, saying, ”Isn’t that a bit extreme?”

”With the master gone, is my statement still extreme?” Du Tianyi said bleakly, smiling, ”Good people don’t live long, but misfortune lasts for thousands of years. To deal with bad people, you must be even worse than them!”

Ye Qing sighed. Having experienced so many things, Du Tianyi had changed considerably. But, wasn’t he the same? To establish himself in Shenchuan City, he must step on many others, because this was the law of survival that no one could change!

”Let’s go, let’s find Lin Yaqing!” Ye Qing took out the tape from his pocket, saying, ”And find a machine to play what’s on this tape, to see what’s really going on.”

At the time, Lin Yaqing was sitting in her own room in the Lin family’s house, feeling restless since last night. Knowing that Ye Qing had returned and had gained the support of Liu Changping and Zhou Bolong, she was completely flustered. She knew very well that with the backing of these two men, it wouldn’t be so easy to kill Ye Qing anymore.

But if Ye Qing didn’t die, she would eventually be found out. Then, her own life would likely be ruined!

Lin Yaqing was extremely anxious and wanted to consult with Xu Dingjiang on what to do. However, after calling Xu Dingjiang all day without getting through, her anxiety amplified. Could it be that after this incident, Xu Dingjiang had run away, leaving her behind?

”Damn man, I was totally devoted to you, and you dare to betray me!” Lin Yaqing clenched her teeth, her anger reaching its peak, wishing she could grab Xu Dingjiang and stab him to death. But, she couldn’t even see Xu Dingjiang, let alone kill him.

”No, I can’t just sit here and wait to die!” Lin Yaqing suddenly stood up, opened her wardrobe to pack some clothes, planning to leave Shenchuan City for a while. If this matter was really exposed, then she’d hide outside for life and never come back, wanting at least to save her own life.

However, before she could finish packing, there was suddenly a knock on the door. Lin Yaqing turned her head and hesitated slightly, saying, ”Who is it?”

”It’s me.” The voice of Shen Baichuan came from outside.

Lin Yaqing sighed in relief, walked over, and opened the door, confronting the ashen-faced Shen Baichuan who walked straight in through the doorway.

”What happened?” Lin Yaqing looked at Shen Baichuan in surprise, saying, ”Weren’t you dealing with Ye Qing? How did it go? Did you kill Ye Qing?”

Shen Baichuan glanced at her, his frown deepening, and spoke solemnly, ”That Ye has found a significant ally, and all our daredevils likely can’t escape!”

”What?” Lin Yaqing’s face paled as even Shen Baichuan hadn’t managed to kill Ye Qing, which meant there was real trouble now.

”What are you planning to do now?” Lin Yaqing looked at Shen Baichuan anxiously, saying, ”Where is this Ye now? Does he know about our affair? Will he come after us?”

Shen Baichuan looked at Lin Yaqing, speaking solemnly, ”What do you think?”

”What… what did I say?” Lin Yaqing became even more anxious, clutching Shen Baichuan’s clothes, urgently asking, ”Where is he now? What does he know?”

”He doesn’t know anything yet, but, I think, he will soon find some clues from Li Wenyuan and Shangguan Tian,” Shen Baichuan looked at Lin Yaqing, his voice grave, ”How many people know about our connection?”

”No… nobody knows…” Lin Yaqing replied. She was actually lying to Shen Baichuan, afraid he would find out about Xu Dingjiang.

”Is that so?” Shen Baichuan stared at Lin Yaqing for a while. Lin Yaqing tried to maintain her composure and nodded.

”That’s good!” Shen Baichuan nodded, then suddenly stood up and grabbed Lin Yaqing by the neck, sneering, ”Since that’s the case, I’ll have to inconvenience you!”

”Baichuan, what… what are you doing…” Lin Yaqing struggled desperately, but she was no match for Shen Baichuan and soon found it difficult to breathe.

Shen Baichuan sneered, ”With you dead, no one will know I collaborated with you to kill Tie Yongwen. In a couple of days, when the Shen family arrives, I will still be the heir of the Shen family. Then, I will see who can do anything to me.”

Lin Yaqing’s eyes almost popped out. She finally understood what Shen Baichuan meant by his earlier question. But by this time, it was impossible for her to retract what she had said. Shen Baichuan pinned her down on the bed, covering her head with a pillow. Lin Yaqing kicked and flailed, but she could not break free. In the end, her movements became weaker until they ceased altogether—she was smothered to death by Shen Baichuan!

Shen Baichuan could not afford to be careless. He checked her breath and pulse to make sure she was truly dead before he felt a bit relieved. However, he did not leave immediately. Instead, he searched the room to see if Lin Yaqing had left any evidence behind.

Unexpectedly, although he had not intended to search, he found several photos. One of them showed a cell phone displaying a text message sent by Lin Yaqing to that private investigator instructing him to kill Ye Qing. It was with this message that Xu Dingjiang had blackmailed Lin Yaqing. The other photos were similar, apparently documenting how Lin Yaqing was blackmailed!

Shen Baichuan held the photos in silence for a while, then placed them next to Lin Yaqing’s corpse on the bed. He deliberately left them there so Ye Qing would know how Lin Yaqing had been controlled, hoping Ye Qing would not investigate further. As for himself, with Lin Yaqing dead, who else knew he had meddled in this affair? As long as he could survive the next few days until the Shen family arrived, he would be worry-free!

Having managed everything, Shen Baichuan left Lin Yaqing’s room quietly, unseen by anyone. Lin Yaqing, a woman of many evils, ultimately received her just desserts, ironically at the hands of her own kin!

Meanwhile, Ye Qing and Du Tianyi drove to the Lin family and directly explained their purpose to Lin Zhen Nan.

Upon hearing that Lin Yaqing was also involved in this matter, Lin Zhen Nan was greatly shocked and surprised. Old Lady Lin was so furious that she trembled all over. This time, she did not stop them, but directly allowed a few people to go and bring Lin Yaqing over.

Since the last incident, she had confirmed that Ye Qing was truly a good person and believed that Ye Qing would not lie. So now, she would rather suspect her own family members than doubt Ye Qing!

”Ye Qing, don’t worry!” Lin Zhen Nan said gravely, ”If someone from the Lin family really is involved in this affair, we will not cover up for her. No matter what, we will give you an explanation!”

Ye Qing nodded. Among these people in the Lin family, Lin Zhen Nan seemed to be the most reasonable one. It seemed that this matter would not be troublesome this time.

However, not long after, the people who had gone to call Lin Yaqing ran over, screaming in panic.

”What? What?” Old Lady Lin demanded furiously, ”What is all this screaming about? No manners at all, what kind of behavior is this?”

”Gr… Grandma, something has happened…” a young man said with a trembling voice, ”Auntie… Auntie, she… she’s dead…”

”What?” Everyone in the room immediately stood up. Ye Qing and Du Tianyi, their expressions greatly altered, rushed ahead.

When they arrived in Lin Yaqing’s room where quite a few people had already gathered, many of them in tears—it was, after all, a relative of the Lin family who had died.

Ye Qing and Du Tianyi walked into the room. Seeing Lin Yaqing lying on the bed with her eyes wide open and unseeing, they too were shocked. They quickly discovered the photos left by the bed. Du Tianyi picked up the photos, looked at them, and handed them to Ye Qing, ”Look at this!”

Ye Qing looked at the photos, and his expression changed once again. Through these photos, he finally understood why Lin Yaqing had moved against him.

”It seems she was killed by the person who was blackmailing her,” Du Tianyi said gravely. ”The person knew we would trace this clue here, so they killed her to silence her, truly malicious indeed!”
